That could have been a potential red card and we are out of subs. Very stupid.

What would happen then? Would an outfield player be allowed to switch to a keeper or would we have no keeper?

Ronaldinho MOTM without a doubt.

oh a not so easy win but a win with a clean sheet which is awesome (even if we could get some goals). Boateng just proved that he is very good and that he is really fighting for the team and this is a thing that our midfield really needs, so boateng forever biggrin.gif biggrin.gif . Nice work from Ibra and nesta should play alone in the defence biggrin.gif biggrin.gif . Lets go ahead, more wins and we can make a lot of things .

Yeah... I don't know how Prince can't be a first choice MF at this point. He has to be in there most of the time.

Better in the second half, but I didn't think we were great. Auxerre were absolutely terrible, and they could of got a draw.

We were just too slow - hopefully we freshen up for the weekend. Strange results in Serie A so far...
elcordobez
VERY VERY sloppy....

That's putting it lightly

Boateng worked very hard in midfield, his positioning is still a bit off imo but connecting well with the attack which is exactly what we need.

Seedorf had another mare...he just came back from injury so won't be too hard on him.

Pirlo needs a rest! towards the 2nd half he was @ walking pace and started spraying wayward crap passes.

Ibra...Good haul

Zambrotta looked really good,he's definitely our starting RB for the rest of the season, too bad his crossing is meh...atm

I think the scoreline is deceptive we played some terrible patches, the whole team was just static,i wonder if they're confused still about what Allegri wants them to do because it certainly didn't seem like they had the confidence in attacking or communication in defense, there was like 3 times where Bonera or Nesta was just confused about who was going to get a 50/50 ball between them lol....

I'm glad we won but we better sort this crap out soon,Serie A won't be as forgiving.

He provided much needed energy in midfield and probably should have scored.Just needs to work on his positioning when defending, that can be learned.
Does that flick on count as an assist? Not quite sure if he got a touch, looked like it grazed his hair.

^^ I'd give Boateng a 7. He did well, got an assist, and could of grabbed a goal. Some nice touches, good passes, and won the ball back on numerous occasions. Yeah - he wasn't outstanding, but it was a good performance. He stood out for me today.

Com'on guys.

He was supposed to be a DM, not an AM .

It's his fault we were risked.

He left Pirlo in DM's position and he had to cover all his zone. I don't want to see him again in our formation. Not without Ambrosini or Flamini in the game too.

Boateng DM? Dude, Boateng is a box-to-box midfielder. He defends and attacks at the same time. It's the same thing our stupid DMs tried to do and miserably failed against Cesena, because it's not in their nature, whilst Boateng has it in his blood. I don't care who he plays instead of, the guy must be a starter from now on.
han2503
Boateng needs to learn how to hold his position more, ys his performance was eye catching, and imo it was a good performance, but an erratic one.

We can't really play without a DM in Serie A, today we had no option and fortunetly Auxerre were pretty spineless in the final third. So the question is, should we play Boateng instead of Seedorf, and who should be the other DM on the pitch? Ambro imo has been struggling in the last 2 games he's played and was struggling today before he was subbed off. I think it would be really interesting to see a Flamini-Pirlo-Boateng midfield, it would be a lot faster and dynamic. Plus we'd have 2 really strong players coming off the bench in Seedorf and Ambro who can both change the flow of a match.

Zambro was great tonight. I think that answers the question as to who should be the regular RB, a natural RB is always better then a makeshift one.

Pato imo is getting a bit frozen out on that right side, I think Allegri needs to figure out a way to have him play more centrally while still getting the best out of Dinho. Robinho was good as well, lacks a bit of sharpness, Ronnie slipped him through in the last minutes and he could have done better if he was more sharp to react to it

Boateng was just what our midfield needed, pace, energy.
Like mike said, good performance. Not faultless, but improving.

Agreed on everything. I'd really like to see a Boateng-Pirlo-Flamini midfield at this point, though I'm certain Allegri will keep playing Seedorf. Every coach that trains Milan falls in love with Seedorf. He must have a special charm or something.

I think in certain matches Seedorf is irriplacable, havign said that when he's not on his game he tends to hold the entire midfield back.

Also Pirlo cannot be exposed anymore, I saw it happen tonight a couple of times as well. Imo the DM needs to play in front of the defense, Pirlo cannot play that position anymore, he doesn't have the legs for it.

We'll see in the next game who Allegri chooses to start, hopefully Flamini is fit so he can choose a regular 3 for the midfield. We need some stability in that area.

Michael Essien scored twice for Chelsea,he worked his way into the box for a header mind you...

That's similar to the roll Boateng plays, what he did was perfectly fine because Zambrotta wasn't an idiot like Bonera and held his position,i think he got caught out once the whole game when he actually had to chase down the guy running down the flank otherwise he was on top of it.

So it's all fine so as long as he's not stupid about it like Gattuso was...he can go forward

Well...

1) The guy who scored two fantastic goals was MOM... Not sure why people keep putting up other names. Easy choice here.

2) I really liked what I saw from Boateng overall, but I agree he got sloppy in the last 15 minutes or so.

3) As for him being a DM - yes, but isn't this exactly what Rino ended up doing last game? I cant help but wonder if Allegri is insisting on these guys playing box to box style... its a mistake, IMO, if that's what is going on... but I do think Boateng did pretty well in that role. I just wish we had another solid, stay at home DM/water carrier for Pirlo to put on the other side of him. Flamini as another strong box to box guy might work...
X-Offender
Playing Flamini next to Pirlo and let Boateng roam more freely would be ideal. Ambro has been disappointing so far, Gattuso can't play anymore. The only problem is Seedorf. I can't see Allegri sitting him on the bench.

was it me or was Pato in the first half playing way to deep i mean he was in there half but in the middle of the pitch...hes an amazing player but cant beat everyone shouldnt he have been further up the pitch blink.gif
d'Arc.LP
The problem is not Rino. I'm not defending him, no way. He's old and not the guy he used to be. He's not in for discussion.

---------------------------------------------------------

I had no problem playing with Boateng in our midfield, but not before Ambrosini or Flamini. But since they were not available it's okay Allegri decided to let him in.

I was very curious to see how he's going to play, I saw he's physically good, better than all our midfielders. I saw some of his games before he camed in Milan. Ambrosini was playing as DM , or ball-winning CM, he got injured and Kevin was the best choice. This was a Champions Leauge game and I expected him to be more careful. The first thing he did was running in the attack like he was a striker. By doing that Pirlo was uncovered, left without options and like against Cesena he could easily be blocked. That was a schenario I didn't want to see again. But he did it and becouse of that Auxerre was getting a lot of opportunities and also Pirlo had to cover his space too.

It's not wise to let him play in first formation without Ambrosini or Flamini in formation too. Why ?

'Cos Inter and Real are not Auxerre and they can easly "eat" our midfield.

Ambrosini is my first choice for DM position. Flamini second (even he plays as CM), Strasser third...
Flamini/Boateng can play as box-to-box midfielder.
Pirlo our playmaker.

Boateng MOM ?

Give me a break, all he did is one assist if we can even call it an assist.

Ibra was the best thing on the pitch tonight. He was everywhere. He helped his team mates, sometimes he even went deep in the defence to help Nesta-Bonera.

His position in the pitch is VERY bad and he is selfish.

END of story.
elcordobez
Dude..but that's pretty much how a 433 formation is supposed to work, the formation isn't set up to babysit Pirlo and nor should it,if we want to provide adequate cover for him we should just go back to the Xmas tree or 4312,we'll win midfield 99% of the time but we're not doing that anymore. Also Ambro attacks just as much as Boateng does when he's supposedly playing DM,Lecce game he gets into the box numerous times to try to link up,the first goal was Ambro through ball to Pato,Ambro also missed from a Bonera cross near the penalty spot....So you have to understand there's really no "DM" role in this formation,we're already too static as you can see from our build up play more movement inbetween midfield and attack would be welcomed by me smile.gif

The problem with the Cesena game Bonera and Gattuso were both attacking at the same time, that's what ultimately left Pirlo 1on1 most of the time, but today Zambrotta stayed back when he needed to cover the counter, while Boateng had time to run back and help.
Most of the danger came when we were just being sloppy and giving away possession in bad spots not really because we got caught out of position. We got caught out once from a corner i think or a freekick, but pretty sure it was a corner...

And Boateng's positioning wasn't THAT bad,it needs improving when he's pressing because they worked the ball around him a few times and he was trying to chase down the play but generally he won that midfield battle and he was in the right spot 9 times out of 10.

In a 4-3-3 formation there is one box to box midfielder, one playmaker and one defensive midfielder. Take Barca as an example... Marcherano is the DM, Xavi the playmaker and Iniesta the btb midfielder.

We have the best creative player in the world but he is physically not very good. Of course you have to cover him.

Read this for our game against Cesena - http://acmilan.theoffside.com/champions-le...as-counter.html

It seams that we haven't see the same game tonight...
amancik
I can understand d'Arc's argument about Boateng's position / role on the pitch. I have to admit there were a few times when Pirlo was practically alone in the midfield as Boateng and Seedorf moved further up the pitch and that left a lot of space for Auxerre to go on counter. That being said, he played well today. I'm not sure what's the best midfield line-up we should put but if it were up to me (depending on the opposition & competition), It'd be Ambrosini-Pirlo-Seedorf or Flamini-Pirlo-Boateng or Strasser-Pirlo-Merkel devilsmiley.gif
