The only time I can see that happening is napoli-inter and napoli-juve. They used to be poor away from home but it seems very different now

A draw at Napoli-Inter would be fantastic. I can't see Napoli beating Inter anyway.

I would not rule out Inter, plus the match between Napoli-Inter is on 37th week. I would rather we win the title before that match.

Wanna bet? 96.gif Inter know the way to stop Napoli. just like we know the way to beat Fionretina. or Palermo know the way to beat us at their home!

It'll take something special for Napoli to beat Inter.

I would take that bet wink.gif This Napoli at home vs Leo's merda? Inter will get 1 point there in the best case scenario IMO.

Napoli faces Udinese next week, I know Udinese have lost 2 previous games, but they are still more than capable of topping Napoli. Hopefully they'll at least stop Napoli from winning.

Probably two of the best attacking teams. Will be a good game

Di Natale vs Edinson Cavani, 2 most in-form strikers in Serie A. It'll be a great battle. For me the match will be won by who's got the stronger defence on the day.

So if we're 3 points ahead of Inter in the last matchday we're going to win the title no matter what happens right? Because of our head-to-head record.

So Ibra has three match ban confirmed.

The League's disciplinary commission has come down hard on Zlatan Ibrahimovic, banning the Milan striker for three matches.

The Sweden international was given a straight red for dissent in Sunday night's 2-1 win away at Fiorentina.

It means that Ibrahimovic is not only to be punished for swearing at the linesman, something he denies, but also reaching the yellow card limit.

Incidentally, it was Ibrahimovic's first game back after serving a two-match suspension for violent conduct against Bari.

Milan are expected to appeal, but for now Ibrahimovic will miss Milan's games against Sampdoria, Brescia and Bologna.

Like I said before, Leo's wheels have come off at Inter just as they did for us. He can do well for a while but then totally loses it and can't get it back.

Inter, barring an astonishing resurrection, are out the title race now.

Juve with another draw

Zed.D
It's a shame neither Juve nor Roma seem to be making it to the CL. because no matter how shitty they are (form-wise), they have more class than the likes of Udinese and Lazio. these teams cannot represent Serie A in Europe and do a good job at it. we saw what happened with Sampdoria. last season's top 4 finisher are now battling relegation...

That said, I still hope Juve somehow make it. they may still go and **** it up in the CL, but simply being in CL means a better future for them with all the money they can earn from it.. they're Juve - they will have to become a top side sooner or later. while with Lazios and Udineses it cannot really happen.
kurtsimonw
Agreed with all of that.

100% Agree with you

Usually these teams like Lazio, Udine even Napoli, are one season wonders, where they have nothing else but Serie A to focus on and they have a good season while one of the top teams struggles, they get into the CL, and they go downhill from there. Usually the next season is terrible for them. They don't have a good enough squad for both compeitions, they end up getting shown up big time in Europe, etc, etc.

For Italy to do well, we need Roma, Inter, Juve and Milan all in the CL, not Udine or Lazio. Napoli, I'm still not convinced by them and I believe next season will be a huge struggle for them due to the CL and they won't last long in Europe either, group stages at best.

As for the title, let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet, I'd hold out until we get past atleast the next 2-3 games with this point advantage and then I'll agree that we should all go out in the streets blowing the car horn like there's no tomorrow, at least that's what we do in Malta when there is a WC or an election biggrin.gif
Zed.D
@ han

Napoli, I'm willing to wait and see. there's something about them.. can't put my finger on it, but I think they can surprise people and make it out of their group (unless it's a group of death or something). but Lazio and even Udinese.. meh. dry.gif there's no way Napoli won't be in the CL but there's still a hope for the 4th spot. Juve/Roma better get their act together asap.

As for us, I hope we don't leave it all to the last game. Udinese are very much capable of taking this gift back.

@han - do we really need them? I'd say yes if it was 5 years or so ago. But now? Roma has been in CL for years, what did they manage to do? Did they move from spot zero? A few times, only to get crushed by their next opposition. Juventus played with such indolence in the Europa League, it looked as they'd care more for the Coppa then those matches. Why not give a chance to Lazio and Napoli now? The can't do it much more worse then it is right now.

+1. sleep.gif They have no one else to blame but themselves, particularly Juventus. If both Roma and Juve miss out on CL football, or even Europe totally, then so be it. That reality won't be undeserved. If a team like Lazio or Napoli earns their place, then personally they are more than welcome from my end to taste the Champions League pie. At the very least, a season or two away from the top flight European football will get their heads in the order - at least Roma and Juve.

We did not make it to CL a few dozen moons back, and I did not see any other Serie A team crying for us.

I agree, imo I think Brescia can prove to be a slippery slope for us. They're very strong at home, plus they're battling relegation, so they're going to be going out there to get points. Samp are a team that is totally defeated beyond repair at this point, so we walked all over them. I'm hoping the players won't let it get to their heads and take the Brescia game easily.

Imo, in terms of the CL spots, yes, we do. Roma might not go very far but they usually get out of their group and even managed a QF here and there. Juve usually do wel as well, it's not lke we lit the UEFA Cup n fire either. Napoli I'm ok with, they have a strong first 11, Udine and Lazio would most likely tumble at the first hurdle, just like Samp did. That hurtsthe Serie A immensely imo.

Sure Roma and Juve have seen better days, but you can't expect them to continue to struggle, and even at their worst they'll do better in the CL then any on the other second tier teams.

And yes no one cried for us when we were in the UEFA Cup, I'm sure most had a good laugh at our expense. But look at where the league is now due to the big 4 struggling the way they have in the past few years and the smaller teams not caring about the UEFA Cup

You raise valid point, Han, but my opinion is that it is time for a new big 4. wink.gif If you are going to have Roma leak in 7 goals, Juventus lose after being 4 goals to the good, and all that, then we could very well let the other guys like Lazio, Napoli in. They aren't going to do much worse, and even if they do, will learn something from the process, because one thing which these smaller teams do have is desire - which sadly seems to be missing from both Roma/Juve. And that usually is the difference between humiliation and a graceful exit from Europe.

I strongly believe that the final standings in a league at the end of the last round of matches is almost always justified. Almost always, though there may be strange cases once in a while. smile.gif I am not sure either of Roma and Juve will make it to the 4th/3rd spot, but if they don't then that's their making. Maybe a few years in the Europa will make them manage their expectations on real grounds.
