You're only mentioning the chances Pippo missed now after I brought them up a million times, but before that they didn't seem to matter to you, you only saw Sheva's chance as the reason we lost. Big name players miss great chances all the time, Sheva's wasn't a miss, it was a great save from the keeper. Plus it wasn't only Sheva that missed chances, Seedorf had a great one, R10 missed another great one, Pippo hit the double digit mark of missed chances. This is why it's irritating me that you only chose to look at Sheva's chance as the sole reason for our loss.

Sheva 3 years ago used to miss chances, Van Basten in his time missed a couple, rarely but he did. Same goes for Pippo who's convertion rate compared to the chances he gets has become shocking. But this doesn't mean you wanted either of these out of the club just because of missed chances. You're only seeing what you want to see from Sheva's performance, and other then that miss he had a good run out, considering fitness and the position he was played in.

He's wearing our shirt again, so until it's really clear that he's way past it (to me we'll only see if that's true once we're in May) O think we should all get behind him and support him. It's for the good of the team, wanting him to fail just to prove that you're right is childish imo.

But heres where i stand. Inzaghi missed a sitter in the match and so did everyone else with a lot of chances but what my real beef with him is that he also ruined a lot of chances he was fouling like a madman and also he missed a sitter, kurt would have scored that.

Well he ruined one chance, Pippo is the one that ruined a dozen out there. The fouling thing, again coming from the EPL, he will have to learn again that he can't be as physical, but to be fair he made about 4 fouls and 3 of them were really soft, in one of them when I was watching the replays closely he didn't even touch the player (the one were the ball was bouncing and it fell to Dinho in the box).

As for how much time needed to see what how Sheva is going to do. 5 games is good, but that would depend on if he's a starter. If he get's for example 20 minutes in every match that time should be extended by 10 matches

Well guys, both Pippo and Shevchenko deserve time. They have class no matter what and that makes them very different to Gilardino. Just look at yesterdays match against Juve. Before hitting the 1-1 goal he presented some embarrassing moments. He tried to kick the ball but hit it meters wide from Buffon or the post for ex.

We should not get Van Basten into this thing. At this period (Fillipo must hide now probably ) I'm not certain he would also score. We must be honest and say Pippo is 35 years old and Basten never made it to that stage. Same for Shevchenko, also past the Van Basten age. The only positive side Van Basten's injury has is that it made him stop in his prime, were he was top of the world football, which made him even more legendary and even more untouchable. The only thing that now can ruin his reputation is maybe his coaching (btw. Ajax lost their league match also).

Anyway, not that the roster for strikers counts 4 (Galliani mode off - always), we have to accept both Pippo and Sheva cannot be the 2-something prime-years strikers they used to be in 2001. They are old, but world class old players which means they still can do some magic, only not constantly. Pippo has an obvious problem, that he demonstrated even last year at the season opening. But - Pippo linked very well with Ronaldino. That's why I don't think we should easily change his position.

In my live I haven't really seen a team that relies more on veterans then Carlo's Milan. This makes my feelings mixed...

Milan Strike Scudetto Fear For Moratti

Inter president Massimo Moratti admits that Milan are the team to fear for the Scudetto despite the Rossoneri’s poor start to the season.
The Nerazzurri chief saw his side draw against Sampdoria on Saturday but, as usual, his attentions have focussed on the hated cross-town rivals, Milan.

Moratti believes that teams should not underestimate Carlo Ancelotti’s men and he has tipped them for Scudetto success.

I'm back from the game and apologize in advance if I'm repeating things that have already been discussed in detail earlier in the thread. I'm too tired to read through 42 pages at this point. Herewith are my observations from the game.

1. The crowd. I'm going to guess that there were around 70,000 people there - the stadium wasn't quite full but it was awfully close to it. And man were they loud. Interesting notes: applause given to Dida when he came out with Abbiati for warmups (the keepers come out a couple of minutes before the rest of the team makes its entrance to 'We Will Rock You'.)
2. Shevcheno's reception. I was thinking the Curva might not have been too welcoming but when he came out for warmups (the starters did their regular warmup stretching etc, the other guys (Sheva, Pato, etc) played a sort of keep-away game - every time the camera/screen focused on him there was applause. There was also applause when Sheva did warmups during halftime. The Curva sang a 'Sheva Song' too. All is apparently forgiven.
3. I leave Kaladze to whatever fate dst wants to devise for him. He was totally at fault for the second goal.
4. The heat. If the game looked slow to viewers, it's probably because it was about 85F and humid. There was a bit of a breeze but I was very happy that my seat was in the shade. A kid fainted on the metro on the way back into town. Was a little scary.
5. Ronaldinho impressed me. I wasn't thinking much of his performance during the olympics, but there were moments of pure magic on Sunday.
6. Connected to 5., the attack. Things were uncoordinated but I am going to ascribe this - for now - to the fact that the guys aren't used to playign together and haven't actually practiced much as a unit. When things DO gel (and I feel fairly certain that they will), they're going to be devastating.
7. Flamini. He doesn't have the flash that Ronaldinho or Shevchenko have but I get the feeling he's going to be the most valuable purchase of them all. Slotted into the LB position after the break without a blink.
8. Tactics. We ACTUALLY changed tactics at the break. The 4-2-3-1 didn't quite work but see 6. Give 'em a little more time and they're going to be scary.
9. The defense. WE NEED A NEW CB. A good one. Hold up the Elkann family and make them give us Chiellini. Please.

So...not the best of beginnings (THANKS A LOT, KALADZE) but tremendous potential. Given that none of the other title contenders took full points this weekend, I'm not too discouraged. (Side notes on other weekend games: looked to me and the Italian tv commentators that Ibrahimovic's goal was a handball and shouldn't have been permitted; Di Natale's goals were wonderful; and goodness gracious, Gilardino actually did something useful at the end of Fiorentina-Juve).

Good to see you had a nice trip. I was expecting a tad more luck since the Fishdoll were there, but no worries, at least it was a result. Good or bad doesn't matter, as long as we learn something from it. We as in us, excluding Carlo, Seedorf, Kaladze - they were the slowest players on the pitch in that match.

Actually, fishdoll's lack of luck is dst's fault. He'll understand when he gets his mail but dst made fishdoll's eyes bleed - went past something really horrific on the way to get dst's postcard.

I don't think tha formation can work well with Pirlo. It needs two defensive minded midfielders.

I've mentioned this before but no one belived me at that point - Carlo will use Flamini as a RB/LB. Flamini did that part many times while he was a Marseille player.

As far as this game, I was impressed by Ronaldinho, Flamini and Zambrotta. I thought they all did well. The defense was suspect and slow to react (particularly on the part of Kaladze). Nonetheless, I was very happy to see how Ronaldinho was playing. He certainly has some of the magic back. In addition, I'm happy to see more attacking intent from our team. This isn't the same lazy Milan we saw last season.

Glad you had a good time in Milano and i know how you feel with the loss i remember in 06/07 Milan - Palermo the first time i'd been to the San Siro , who scores Amauri and Bresciano my heart sunk literally just remember Maldini on the touch line talking to Nesta and the rest of the team telling them to calm down , Grande Capitano !
