and surely he would have never, never, ever ... I repeat ever score that essential opener.

biggrin.gif Careful Warchant.

Next I'll hear a press release with Galliani saying, that Milan do not need any transfers. We have identified the problems with our team, and it is because of an American fan, who has assured us he shall not watch Milan games this season.

We have essentially paid him a million euros to not watch Milan games again, and so by winning his support, in a way he is our summer signing. tongue.gif

Kalac 5
Bonera 6
Kaladze 6
Jankulovski 6

Favalli 5.5
Ambrosini 7
Pirlo 6.5
Seedorf 7
Gattuso 6
Brocchi 6
Kaka` 8
Pato s.v.
Inzaghi 8

Interesting. Datasport doesn't beat around the bush. Pippo's 8 is a bit high, though, considering all the sitters he missed in the first half.

I don't care who he plays for, I will ALWAYS like Materazzi!

Glad he had a bad game today though. As for the ratings, Pippo - 8? Scoring an easy goal and mising 5 eay chances doesn't mean you'ev had a good game. The Ambro - 9 is about right though, otM easily for me.

Ambrosini bullied Viera into submission. It was his tackle which and pass which led to Kaka's goal

Your second point, is a glowing example of why (some) people on this board have double standards. Maldini is 40 so its okay if he makes mistakes? When did we allow sentimentality cloud our judgement.

Comparing the two captains is not tenuous, they are both leaders, both command their fields of play and both have undying loyalty to the club. They have more in common than you would like to admit.
*

So what is your point then? Ambro is better Paolo tongue.gif LOL that is one of the funniest things I have ever heard.

Ambro made that silly foul which led to the goal then, not content with that, he did it all over again later(almost same position as well). Now if that doesn't make him a liability then I'd hate to see one of your bad players.

as for ambro setting up the goal, I've seen Brocchi, favalli even kaladze set goals up does that make them better than Ambro?

I feel your point is rather tenuous as it's obvious you are an Ambro fan and refuse to see any mistakes he makes.

I don't know about you guys, but I won't forget the period of one year when he didn't score one single goal in the league. for me consistency is worth more than showing up in a few big games... few out of dozens of equally important ones. to be successful in the league you need a consistent goalscorer and Pippo IMO isn't one. he's been on ideal form only in our last 5 [league] games... he scored 1 goal in 14 games and then suddenly 9 in 5... I won't get carried away with it. I'd rather have a striker who consistently scores 0.5 goals per game. wink.gif

And for that we had Gilardino aka 'the flop' and Ronaldo (injured all season long).

Pippo Inzaghi is 34 yrs old. He drove us into the CL spot. He scored the crucial goals in Athena. He was fundamental in the 2003 CL triumph ... I mean, he isn't getting any younger, but he remains to be SuperPippoInzaghi. Name one striker in the world that does what he does wink.gif

I didn't say he didn't score in Athens, etc etc etc. I just said he hasn't been consistent in the league for the last few years and he hasn't been! it's undeniable. it has nothing to do with the fact that he is SuperPippo.

Again, he is 34 years old !! He is not 30 or 28 or 27 ... He was injured for the most part of the season. He came back for the Arsenal game, but it was clear he wasn't remotely as fit as he is now.

So yes .. You cant expect him to do what he used to do when he was 28 or 30 ... Rather expect him to be SuperPippoInzaghi when the pressure is on devilsmiley.gif
Jack Sparrow
Err yeah...when he's fit, he's still one of the best to lead an attack.

I do hate it when people point out, that he takes 5 attempts to score one goal. The fact is another striker might not even have made it to the position Pippo got in, for those attempts. biggrin.gif

I hope he can play on for another 2 years. Would be good to see him hold on to the all time European scoring record, and not lose out to Raul. I'd like another Milan player to break that record, if it does happen.
Zed.D
I know he is 34yo and I didn't say I expect him to score in every game. I just think our best player was Kaka and yet Pippo is getting all the credit for scoring with a simple header [after wasting a few fairly good chances, including a one on one] on Kaka's great move and cross. I can't even count the number of goals he's scored thanks to Kaka's assists...

Well of course Kaka', it is too easy to say Kaka' because he is the creative spark to our attack. But if not for Inzaghi, I doubt Milan would be in 4th place today 96.gif

And he missed the one on one yesterday ... he missed over 400 goals in his career. So what ?! He remains to be the European all time top scorer. Just say 'thank God we have Inzaghi on our team' king.gif

You really think Pippo is the one driving us towards the CL spots?

Personally I think that if Kaka had stayed in his slump of form he had been going through this season we would be in 6th place right now not 4th.

Fact is that this team revolves around Kaka and if he doesn't play well then the team suffers. Who has been feeding Pippo goals by the kiddy spoon these past few weeks? Fact is that Kaka has assisted on 95% of the tap-ins that Pippo has scored.

I agree with 2003 CL triumph because Pippo was amazing that season, but these days unless you put the ball infront of him 5 yards from the goal he won't score.

Again reason why we should look to the future and not rely on our past. This season has already been difficuilt for Pippo in terms of injuries so I can only imagine that next season will be worse.

Fact is we need to take players like Pippo and R9 as added bonuses rather then a part of the team that you can rely on.

Wait R7, what do you care about more, the sentimentality you hold towrds a player that is fading away fast aside from a couple of purple patches here and there or the actual success of the team?

Because when Milan needed a good consistant scorer the most this season and the last one Pippo certainly wasn't there. Either he was on the treatment table or in terrble form.Fact is, this is the reason why Milan are in the situation they are in now.
