I personally don't see him as a DM.

He's a bit of a weird one. Plays like a play-making type player, but is positioned where a DM would usually be. So it's your call I guess. tongue.gif

the "D" in DM stants for 'deep lying' lol....he does come back to make thoes challanges but it just convenient for him becuase hes used to gracefully walkin the ball up the field biggrin.gif....hes too skillfull to be a defensive midfielder like gauttso hes just much better at defence than players like clarance...but either way hes the back bone to this milan side and i woulnd trade him for anyone. king.gif

Just imagine this team we saw tonight but with Paolo and Nesta in the middle (no Kaladze), Janku and Oddo as full backs (they will give us much more needed width in the flanks) and with Rino instead of Ambro.

Oddo---Nesta----Paolo---Janku

-----------Pirlo

------Rino--------Seeedorf

------------Kaka

-------Pato--------Ronaldo

Can't wait for the Fransenal game!!
Darunia
Just realized Pirlo will be suspended for the big Udinese match next weekend, a big loss. That game against Udinese is huge since they are a direct competitor for 4th place. Still, Rino and Ambro can fill in.

Oh sh!t....ohmy.gif

Well...do we see Yoann?? Or do we see...

Rino---Emerson---Ambro

fresh_prince7
What do you think Jack. rolleyes.gif

No Pirlo is a massive blow. With the diamond formation Kaka' has alot more space so hopefully that'll be enough. Add Ronnie and Pato and should cruise to win. IN THEORY!

Just for those who were curious Sheva did score on debut against Lecce. Like Kurt mentioned Oli scored and debut and was rather impressive. Will be interesting to see how he backs it up in his next game.

I agree bring on Arsenal, were going to be in mint touch in few weeks time, bar no injuries.
misha
I think Carlo will play Emerson in the Pirlo role, though I'd put Seedorf there. He has the creative skills to do the job.
Zed.D
Oliveira scored on his debut, but I wasn't impressed by his game that much. because that goal was scored from a header, from every 10 corner kicks, 1 might land exactly on your head and you score. but I remember Oli screwed up some chances in his debut, and he was a 26-27yo and was considered an already proven goalscorer with a decent goalscoring record in Spain... I don't want him back no more!

QUOTE (Porty @ Jan 14 2008, 04:01 AM)

His first touch is ridiculous good. His tecnique is impressive, even for a brazillian - specially at 18.

From the first moment I saw him in Internacional de Porto Alegre I had no doubt he'd be a phenomenon.

Legend in the making.

I was happy with Pato the same as with Ronaldo.

R99 is the one who can make us win CHL this season.

But, PATO OMG..... he has EVERYTHING!

BTW, the commentator of the channel I was watching said that Pato is engaged to that brazilian actress (I though they are just dating) and additionally they'll soon get married ohmy.gif

It seems that he's a matured men off the pitch too laugh.gif

I'd also like to point out that Oliviera scored on his debut, I'm not going to get carried away yet. The first few months are the easiest, it's when the league gets used to the way you play and stops you doing what you do best that you find it more difficult, but I'm confident the youngster will continue to play well.
*

I agree with you on that. But I would also like to point out that Pato just by the 90 minutes he played showed amazing class, his touch, his movement, finishing. All exceptional and point to real class player. Oli never showed us that, not on his debut, never. He scored from a corner, not a goal like Pato scored.

I agree with what you said, but sometimes the class of a player shows through no matter what and I think Pato showed us that, Oli never did. And also Spain has had some weird league top scorers, I don't have the list exactly, but it's not like in England or Italy where you have a handful of players that you expect to always be fighting it out for top scorer spot. And also Spain is a much more lightweight league then Italy and England are, and Oli was used to that. He's just not made for Italian football imo

Pirlo is a pure playmaker, when he was at Inter and Brescia he used to play in the position Kaka plays in, the whole behind the strikers. But Carlo moved him to a deep lying position and he made his name there. He only plays in the DMF position on the pitch so he can pull the string from deep.
han2503
Well here are my delayed ratings for the game, I wrote them yesterday but didn't have time to post them

Dida: 7 - Didn't have much to do, and dealth with everything else with ease. Couldn't do anything on the 2 goals conceeded. Hopefully a step in the right direction for him

Bonera: 7.5 - Defensively sound and made some good attempts at going forward. Imo he should be the one to partner Nesta in the center until we find a world class CB to replace Paolo. Kala should not be on the pitch anymore

Nesta: 8 - As cool as you like with everything. Not his fault he has a dimwit playing next to him.

Kala: 3.5 - No commenr. Just read dst's posts for this one wink.gif

Maldini: 7.5 - Good defensively, very forceful going forward. Regaining back his form

Seedorf: 8 - When dst puts him down he plays well. Everytime dst wrights something about him being lazy and doesn't do anything he actually plays well. My advice for dst is to keep bashing him smile.gif . Great passing, great movement and a good goal to add to that.

Pirlo: 6 - Was not at his best imo. Amazing through ball to Ronaldo for the first goal but other then that he was really quite and didn't use the set pieces that well

Ambro: 6.5 - Solid game, but the constant fouling because of diving in without thinkking gets on my nerves. I think Rino fits the formation we played last night better imo.

Kaka: 7 - Quite game from Ricky also, had some good moves and made some nice passes but other then that nothing spectacular aside from the amazing goal that is wink.gif

Ronaldo: 8 - Not 100% fit, probably not even at 75% and still he can win you a game, great movement, great passing and 2 goals, couldn't ask more of him.

Pato: 8 - At times I thought he was trying too hard. But at other times he showed us all of his class, his first touch to set up his gaol was pure class. Hopefully we'll see great things from him in the near future. His kiss of the badge and the tears when he scored was moving and showed his passion of the game, and he won me over by doing that. Only complaint are those nikies he was wearing, kept slipping all over the place biggrin.gif

QUOTE (Tennie @ Jan 13 2008, 10:10 PM)
Here are datasport's ratings:

Dida 6 Non puo` fare nulla sui due gol. Per una volta una giornata tranquilla.

Bonera 6 Non scende mai, ma in questo Milan non ce n`era bisogno. Ha la fortuna di trovarsi di fronte Savini, che spinge ancora meno.

Kaladze 5.5 Riapre la gara con un intervento fin troppo deciso su Lavezzi. Molto sollecitato, ha giocato meglio in altre occasioni.

In affanno.

Kaka` 6.5 Di tutti i brasiliani era quello piu` in ombra.

Chi ben comincia...

Ronaldo 8 Quando meno te l`aspetti. L`efficacia e` inversamente proporzionale all`agilita`.
*

Dida 6 Couldn't have done anything about the two goals. For once had a tranquil game.

Bonera 6 Never got forward but in this Milan side there wasn't a need to. Luckily he came up against Savini who pushes up even less.

Kaladze 5.5 Reopens the game with a stubborn intervention on Lavezzi. Helped out a lot he's had better games.

Favalli 6.5 Substituted Maldini, presides the wing with great experience. Gets down the wing when he has to, covers well. Had the pleasure of assisting Pato's goal.

Nesta 6 At the end of the day he knows his trade. In a complicated night, but only for a half.

Maldini 6 Starts by pushing as a wing back like the good old days. After a while he gets hurt and closes his appearance after 45 mins. In breathlessness.

Ambrosini 6 Tries to act as a filter in a night that noone else tries to do the same in midfield. Very isolated he floats but doesn't emerge.

Emerson 6 A good few minutes to show everyone that he's there too.

Pirlo 6.5 Suffers in the defensive part like never before. But he has the lightening bolt that puts Ronaldo through in the 1st goal.

Seedorf 7 Offensive part an 8, defensive part a 5 in the 1st half. 7 in the 2nd. Returns to sacrifise himself as a left sided mid & he's one of the ones that broke the neapolitan rearguard in two. Flavours everthing with a goal and a gifted assist.

Kaka` 6.5 Of all the brazilians he was the most in the shade. Until the shot that put Milan into tranquillity. But the impression is that he can give something extra.

Gourcuff no vote Had few minutes to make an impact.

Pato 8 He was the most waited for. For a half he left the spotlight to his idol Ronaldo. Then he made the scala of football his, bewitching it with rapid, clean & effective movements. With that 7 on his shoulders he reminded of Shevchenko. He ended with a goal. Who starts well...

Ronaldo 8 When you least expect it. The effectiveness is inversely proportionate to the agility. Excellent feet, his weakness for scoring still intact. If the physique holds up, Ancelotti can remain calm.

Yeah his pass was intercepted in Napoli's half, nothing to do with the penalty incident...

Bonera did indeed make some good attempts at going forward but just that, nothing out of the ordinary. He is not a RB and I think for a CB he's rather good at playing in the flank.

As dst said, for a CB he made some good attempts, the penalty was all Kala's fault as you said in a previous post, he could have just stayed with him and the ball would have gone for a goal kick, from the positions they were in Kala had no need to bulldoze Lavezzi. There is only one culprit for that goal and it definately wasn't Bonera
