The goal we conceded was down to favalli not picking his player up.

the fullbacks and D mids pick up a player when theres 2-3 guys in the 6 yard and in the box... when theres ONE guy one of the CB should be marking him. but obviously favalli dint look good at all on the goal.

I don't know what is missing from this side really. I mean it was almost the same team that took the pitch in Athena. But there is something missing .. The goal we conceded was down to Bonera's poor marking really ..

It is clear that we face problems against these weaker teams as the defend with 8 men and then counter attack with 3 or 4 men ... I don't know, I just hope the team can get it together as they did last year and get back to climbing the table.
*

What is missing is passion and drive from some of the players who see that they are a goal down and still stroll around the field like we are 5-0 up rolleyes.gif

As for some of the subs who rarely get chances but still when they do get a chance they still don't give their 100% to the cause. That just p!sses me off to no end.

As for Catania's goal, first of all, we never should have allowed them that much space to counter, secondly I think it was more Cafu's fault, wasn't he the one that backed off the catania player who made the cross?

As for the whole weaker team thing, it's not a sure fire theory since so far we haven't faced any big teams, and to tell you the truth I'm not looking forward to it really, because with the way we're playing we will get beat pretty easily
misha
Let's hope that this year ,somehow, would make our board understand that big changes are needed. And they cost money and if they wont to continue with their cheap, narrow minded policy then that's what they are gonna get.
bigmacmtl
hey dont worry it's still early in the season... i mean we're only what 7 pts off the leaders? or wait how can you mange do that early in the season rolleyes.gif the fact of the matter is the only reason the top 4 arent further ahead of us is because they've already played games each other.
do we see a similar theme developing? it was around this time of the season that everyone started to see the scudetto fade away just like right now.

No, it wasn't Cafu .. It was Kakha, he backed off to cover the near post while Kalac got back up to cover his goal.

Dida right now won't be of any help really since he's probably playing worse then Kalac atm. Imo Ronaldo is the one we're missing the most our strikers haven't even gotten One single goal in the league! How sad is that??!!

Of colurse Athens was as special for me too. I'm not devaluing that win, it was probably one of our most special wins because of who it was against.

BUT with that said, we all knew that once we won that cup Galliani wouldn't make the VERY NECCISARY changes he needed to make in the team. And surprise surprise that is what happened

you mean a big match in the CL.

This is start of a new era and we are in a very scary phase: "Realization"

Meaning after a string of results like this, the management will start to accept the situation as it is and leave denialville. There is a chance we won't finish top 4 this season, so I see a new era of younger, not so prolific Milan. Kind of like Juve this season. About at least 10 players in our squad need to be shown the door. And new blood must be injected. This is modern football, and we need to role with the punches until we get it. We won the CL? Great, let's build on that. We learned our lesson and this early into the season.

whats sad is we had the perfect situation to build on our CL win. look at liverpool since they've won the CL, right away they got ride of the useless players that had the odd good game and only played well in a few CL matches. then finally got financial backing... look how much better they are now, they arent clinging on like we're doing with these old players.

Like last season, I think our problem is motivation.

Carletto can't motivate them anymore. That's why they, logically, just perform in the Champions League when half of the world is watching.

Serie A? Yeah, right. rolleyes.gif

Sack Carlo and prepare a new era in the club. 10 players out 10 players in, new coach, new staff....

This team is just pathetic. So are those "let's be supportive" people.

Well, we can't draw any conclusions about that han ... I mean, this team did well last season, despite all the difficulties.

With that said, the management and the coach agreed to keep the same team, with minimal changes. Now, is that the best decision from our management? It is still early to conclude anything really .. It is easy for us to point fingers as we are the on lookers, if u know what I mean ..

Exactly, motivation!!!! In the first half I couldn't believe what I was watching, 1-0 down and people strolling around the field.

And ,aybe you're right Carlo might be the problem but I'm not entirely convinced on that. Players who play for the club should just be motivated enough by putting on that shirt!!!!

Players like Cafu, Favalli, Kaladze, Serginho, Inzaghi, Simic and Brocchi all need to be shown the door by next season and should be replaced by younger, talented players who will actually show some passion for the shirt. (I'm only referring to a few about the passion thing, because I have no doubt in my mind that players like Inzaghi have a passion for the shirt but he is simply not good enough) Even Gila, if he doesn't at least get close to 20 goals in the league this season he need to be shown the door.

As for the support thing, I'm still one that will support this team no matter what, but there are different ways of showing it, you can either curse everyone involved or criticise the team in a constructive fashion without resorting to bashing everyone from the president to the ball boys.
bigmacmtl
anothr problem that no one talks about: WIDTH... we always have to play in our fullbacks they have to runt he whole pitch to get forward and run back to defend. wouldnt it be easier to have WINGERS!?!?! that can dibble and beat defenders and CROSS!?!? one reason i'd like to see carlo leave is he is so closed minded with his tactics, open up man.
dst
We do need to create a new project! This team is going nowhere... maybe they can do well in the CL again but that will only be because they never really competed for the scudetto! This isn't Milan... we must fight for everything, every year!

Until then, I'd like to see Carlo adopt the Roma/Inter way... counter-attacks! We just can't beat these teams playing initiative football! Maybe we can do it another way... and please let Gourcuff play... it's not like he'll ruin our winning streak or anything! rolleyes.gif

We all knew this is gonna happen. But then this is lowest of the low. If there's a positive in this game, it is that at last CA made an offensive sub. True gila and pippo don't combine well, but at least it may have finally got thru Ancelotti's thick scull that you can't expect to play a single striker all the time in seria A and survive. Moreover, it was only when we have two strikers on the field that Kaka had those space to be making those runs. That's before catania brought in player specifically to latch on to him throughout.

I hope Galliani enjoy this. And it is a perfect birthday gift to Berlu.

We go to celtic next. I'm optimistic we will do well. BUt whatever happens, devil.gif

carlo has been getting the tactics wrong all season long. look how effective we are. yet apparently he's supposed to be a master tactician and guys like spaletti and mancini have no chance.

I dont know what to say...

Except Inzaghi should have been taken off for Gourcuff at around the 60-70 minute mark

Please dont bash Gila, whoever was doing it a few pages ago, Inzaghi was far less effective, he is completely useless when outside the box. At least Gila can bring others into play like the Palermo match

Actually these team didn't do well last season, apart from the league we were terrible in the league for the better part of the season.

These problems should have been adressed last summer but they wheren't and we are paying the price now just as many expected.

Carlo might tell the media that he sees the team as fine atm but we don't know what's going on behing closed doors. And it is still early to come to conclusion but this is the time when the league is wonand lost and imo we have already practically lost this year's scudetto. Atm, Juve have a better chance of getting it then we do

I know what you mean, five years with the same team (core team), but that is the main reason for our strength in the long run, isn't it? But I know, we can't cling on to the past, as Milan are protagonists and always look to future successes. fresh_prince7
Utterly disappointing. Only positive is the management might finally understand the situation.

I agree its time for Carlo to go, he's given the fans so much joy over his stint, but he's just coasting (rather than coaching) like the rest of the milan team at the moment. We have one youth prospect in our squad and he can't even get a damn game in a horrendous run of results. Kaka' is struggling due to much tighter and harder marking. Basically only scoring 1 goal in open play besides the penalty rebound from the Sevilla game.

We definitely have to undergo a rebuilding period, which could take some serious time since we've not slowly introduced new younger players into the team to occupy these spots. Besides that we don't have a bench, since the options to inject a change in the match situation are poor at best. Obviously there is yohan, but Carlo refuses to make that move at a stage in the game when he can be influential.

Then theres all the hopes that are resting on a 17 year old kid. Even if he does prosper straight away, which is highly unlikely, can anyone say thats good management.

Its definitely time to show some players the DOOR.

Then the best thing will happen, we'll play a brilliant game against celtic midweek and all these problems will be forgotten AGAIN. Same old story.

Times like these, you can't blame the fans for their reluctance to support the team.

Yes I know that the core of this team is what makes it so successful, but that's what I mean, the backbone of the team can stay the same, Nesta, Oddo, Pirlo, Seedorf, Kaka and Rino but the others that rarely do anything and mostly are sub but when given that chance don't even try their best need to be shown the door simple as that, we are NOT a perfect team, despite the BS that Galliani might try to feed us rolleyes.gif

And yes I had hope for the Scudetto, that should have been our main goal this season, the CL in no a realistic option to base all your efforts on, one bad night or a stroke of bad luck and you're out, so I don't see the logic in completely shunning the league and putting all our efforst in a cup competition, imo it's ignorant at best.

Fact is small changes should have started to come after Istanbul but we stuck around we the same team not for 1 year but 3. Now we'll most likely have to make 5-7 changes in one summer, that is not good planning it's just terrible management at best imo.

yes, certain players should have been shown the door. But what good is this talk now, that is what I have been trying to say over and over again. The season already started, for good or for worse, this is the team that will compete.

I am not putting all my hopes solely on winning the CL this season. For starters we already won a trophy, and finishing off the season with a second or a third trophy isn't bad MO of course (let that be the CL and/or CWC).

I agree with you that 5-7 changes isn't good for the team when it happens at once. But the management are the experts in that field. It is their job and they have been managing this team for over 20 years, they have more experience than anyone on this forum on that matter.

han, it isn't easy to take this draw and neither is it to take the loss w/ Palermo ... But we both know this is just a phase, Milan always pick up themselves and show a different character when the going gets tough. That is why I am laid back (sort of) and believe in this team no matter what the critics like to say.

We all have our strategies after defeats and shameful moments.
Some of us take it offensive, some of us defensive. But one thing we sure should understand. I feel bad about this game, and I feel bad right now. Only a real idiot would fail to see our problems. We had Siena, Fiorentina, Palermo and catania to establish a clear vision what is wrong,..

Right now, I don't need any further settelments about our options. If there wasn't for R7 I would feel even worse right now reading all these critics. They are very true and right, but still,.. sad.gif

"The attackers at my disposal are Kaka, Seedorf, Inzaghi and Gilardino"

rolleyes.gif everything that is wrong with us right now is summed up in the that comment.

we are so desperate right now for forwards that suddenly players that have never been and never will be for forwards are being referred as attackers....

like carlo just shut up and dont call seedorf and kaka forwards mad.gif

dint kaka look great when he was played behind the strikers???

He looked great but the progress still was equal zero,..only with Ronaldo up front this could be good.

Now that is what we need. All that is missing from this team is Ronaldo !!! Had he been on the pitch, we would have been comfortable throughout the game, and not just this game, but all the games that we drew in and the game at the Barbera too.

When is he expected back btw ?! Anyone ?
