Wll, i haven't read all the four pages in the thread but this is why Cagliari sold Suazo to Milan and not to Inter.

Moratti and Cagliaris president Cellino had agreed on a transfer, it was all set, except for one thing, and that is that Inter was supposed to get Aquafresca as a replacement to Suazo in the next two days. Said and done Cellino thought, but nooope.
He called Moratti last night and asked about Aquafresca and all he got for an answer was silence. Cellino got pissed off, he called Galliani and said that he could buy Suazo instead. Galliani made a quick phone call to Silvio who gave Suazo "his blessing". Galliani and Cellino worked things out fast, 14€M for the transfer and give Suazo 3.5€M per season.
And now in the morning everything was official.


In the Gazzetta where i found this it also says that Milan still want Eto'o.
I really don't know what we need him for now, although I would get really dissapoited if Inter got him.

It also says that there are 6(!) clubs interested in Oliveira, among those we find Atletico Madrid, Espanyol and Marseille.

I agree, he's all of these things, but I still think 14m is too much.

I was watching his efforts against milan, his pace could really be hot to handle especially with the likes of pirlo and kaka' playing him through. Dare say that shuts the door on eto'o coming unless we let gila go.

Nice to see that were actually 'active' in the transfer market as someone rightly pointed out, especially when were constantly linked to this player and that player. Haha and then from right field BANG, slip in and snake suazo. Just that action makes it a wonderful trade. Is 14 million alot.. depends what currency I guess, but if thats the same currency as 30 million for sheva, then I tend to agree it is rather high.

I agree with the price-tag being too much. I really don't think he's worth it at all. He will certainly not solve our goalscoring problem. Maybe he'll prove me wrong and shove this all back in my face? I really hope he does.

Milan confirm Suazo swoop Tuesday 19 June, 2007

European champions Milan have announced that they have agreed a deal with Cagliari to sign David Suazo.

The Rossoneri were rumoured to have pipped city rivals Inter with a late bid yesterday and that has been noted as reality by the club this morning.

“The Honduran attacker David Suazo will wear the Milan jersey next season,” a statement on the club’s website noted.

“His transfer from Cagliari into Rossonero was concluded after negotiations which took place last night.”

Cagliari chief Massimo Cellino has also confirmed the move. “I’ve signed a deal with Milan,” he simply noted at the Lega Calcio offices this morning.

Suazo is understood to have cost the Champions League winners a sum in the region of £10m.

As long as he's better than Oliviera I suppose it's a plus. R9 is clearly our number 1 guy, and who knows maybe real competition both in the league and in Europe will push Gila to be a better player?

I just hope you and I are wrong about him and he replicates his 05/06 season with us. Hopefully it doesn't mean we're giving up interest in R10/Henry/Eto'o.

He has no European experience. Is he just going to be another Gila to us? Quite prolific for a lower team, but doesn't cut it at a big club/Europe?

just because a player hasn't played in CL.. doesn't mean he'll get dumb struck when he does play next year! you can't compare Gila to him... Gila's been doing sh!t because of self-confidence and his mental approach to his game... it doesn't mean Suazo will follow his path.

IMO it's a huge difference. Playing the CL and the League are two very different things. The Refs, the atmosphere, the clubs you're playing. When Gila arrived he seemed very confident to me. Why do you think he lost that confidence?

Haha and heres the other side of the coin. He just might rise to the occassion when he gets his european chance, alternatively he could flop. Basically just have to wait and see, it certainly provides us with a new dimension in attack which in itself could be useful to change a game up. The pace of kaka' and suazo could be very fun for defenses to try handle. At least we can say we have 4 strikers now and oli and borriello.

I watched him and think he is really good. He and Gila can be very good partners to R9. Our team has much more depth with Suazo because Pippo is getting very old.
Furthermore, having Suazo in the team will open space for the transfer of R10. We could forget Eto'o.
I wonder why Galliani does not try for Barzagli? He is his type of player.

That is the main plus side. How many times have we asked ourselves this season in Europe. Is it going to be Pippo or Gila? Next season we don't have to, we don't even need either because we'll have R9 and Suazo.

In the league he'll add depth, too. If one guy is injured or tired we'll still have a decent level forward on the bench. The only question is whether he'll perform or not, there's no question he needs to improve to start for Milan. Maybe he will, maybe he won't. Only time will tell.

He will, certainly he will. I watched him several times and you will see that he will be more valuable than Ronaldo next season. I am confident he will score at least 25 goals next season (in all competitions).

i'm not saying it's not different... i'm saying the difference doesn't mean that he can't perform his best! we've seen what he's capable of and really as i said before it'll mostly depend his mental approach to the stage. and for that reason every player is different and comparing him to Gila just doesn't work

Can't share your optimism guys. But of course I hope your right. One last word about my Gila comment. Of course I know that both play a very different. But the point is that both came from small teams which they prevented from relegation. Teams in which they didn't have to fight for a first team spot. This new situation will be a whole new one for Suazo. I dunno if he can handle it.

I don't know how we're going to manage our striking disposals this season but i sure as hell hope that we move away from the christmas tree or having to rely on Kaka supporting. Maybe Carletto is finally going to switch to an offensive approach, despite being an Italian team!
I think the signing is great, needed some spark and more importantly had to piss Inter off even more after winning the CL!!
I hope to god that we dont chase another striker though, that would be insane. I dont know about the rest of you milanisti but i also feel that our midfield is relatively complete so i personally wouldnt be over the moon to see R10 here either, we already have the two best attacking Brazilians anyway!
