same here!
tricky 1 this 1 if we score early then i think palermos lack of confidence should let us go on to win by a couple of goals. but i predict a close 1-0 win just because of our lack of goal scoring prowess at the moment. goal scorer will be Kaka

hard match... if we win we'll earn the 3rd place at the end I'm sure about it. But if we dont win than I hope we draw. Coz, dont think that'll be easy to beat them in Sicily.

Yep it;s going to be so strange for a midweek game to be played at 3 in the after noon.
Luckily my last lecture on wednesday is at 2:30, so I will have enough time to get home and watch the match.
And I really hope we win, if we manage to stay with 11 for the entire 90 I'm confident that we can score goals. R9 might sit this one out, he was getting knowcked about a lot against Samp.
I think we'll either see Oli and pippo or Oli and Gila, with maybe Ronaldo coming on as a sub

Ronaldo shouldn't play 3 games in 1 week, so I would start Gilardino and Oliveira for this one, then Ronaldo and Inzaghi for Chievo.
If Maldini is fit, I'd start him then rest him on Saturday.
My lineup:
Dida
Cafu - Bonera - Maldini - Jankulovski
Gattuso - Pirlo - Seedorf
Kaka
Oliveira - Gilardino

This will be a tough match, no doubt but if we manage to win it, we will be only 5 points away from the third spot with a game in hand
So like all the others this is a must win match and the fighting spirit we showed in these last 2 games was really good to see. That means we will fight until the end this season. If what happened yesterday had happened 3 months ago we would have folded like a book and lost the match, but we fought it out and got the win

Palermo - Milan
Stadio Barbera
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Milan make the trip to Palermo’s Stadio Renzo Barbera for what is set to be a mouth-watering encounter in the race for Champions League football.
After a superb start to the campaign, Palermo have lost their way a little. While the Sicilians showed spirit to fight back and earn a 1-1 draw away to Atalanta last weekend in a game they could easily have lost, they have only won once in their last five outings.
Although outspoken club President Maurizio Zamparini has been quick to publicly criticise his side, the Rosanero still have a nine-point cushion in the Champions League qualification zone and could hardly have asked for more. Second-placed Roma’s eight-point advantage may be unassailable, but it’s crucial that Francesco Guidolin gets the best from his men here against a Milan side hot on their heels.
Milan are on scorching form and will see this clash as a great chance to reduce Palermo’s lead and heap pressure on Lazio. After a shaky start to the campaign, the Rossoneri are back on track and have racked up seven wins from their last eight games in an unbeaten run that stretches back to November.
The Diavoli’s recent success has seen a number of unlikely heroes emerge. Czech wing-back Marek Jankulovski is enjoying a purple patch and super-sub Massimo Ambrosini made decisive contributions against Sampdoria and Siena. Carlo Ancelotti will have been delighted that his men managed to swipe maximum points against Samp with 10 men on Sunday evening, but must be concerned at how draining their recent schedule has been.
Palermo shocked Milan 2-0 at the San Siro in Week 7 but Milan were a little unfortunate as they hit the woodwork twice. Not only are the San Siro side on excellent form, they also have an enviable away record having lost just once on their travels and conceded only 10 times.
Guidolin has a shortage of defensive options for the test as Andrea Barzagli is injured and Mattia Cassani is suspended after picking up a caution against Atalanta. Aimo Diana is likely to move back into defence to cover, but young Argentine wing-back Paolo Dellafiore is an option. Eugenio Corini and David Di Michele return after serving suspensions. Goalkeeper Alberto Fontana will undergo a late examination after suffering whiplash following a collision with Simone Loria.
Milan’s injury problems continue. Serginho, Kakha Kaladze and Alessandro Nesta are joined in the stands by Paolo Maldini who has a knee problem. Cristian Brocchi is suspended as is Massimo Oddo who was dismissed for a professional foul against Sampdoria. Ancelotti is likely to field an all-Brazilian strike line of Ronaldo and Ricardo Oliveira again leaving Alberto Gilardino and Pippo Inzaghi to cool their heels on the bench.
Man on fire: Mark Bresciano (Palermo) – The Australian midfielder injected life into a sluggish Rosanero side last weekend and deserved a goal to show for his efforts.
Last season: Palermo 0-2 Milan
Form guide: Palermo (L W L D D) Milan (D W W W W)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Palermo (probable): Agliardi; Diana, Zaccardo, Biava; Pisano, Guana, Corini, Simplicio; Bresciano, Di Michele, Caracciolo
Milan (probable): Dida; Cafu, Bonera, Simic, Jankulovski; Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf, Kaka; Ronaldo, Oliveira

Serie A Team Of The Week: Round 25
Simic (Milan): His performance was quite a surprise, and for the Rossoneri this is good news as they know they can count on another player for this final rush of the season.
Ambrosini (Milan): One of the unluckiest players with regards to injuries, but when he’s fit, he’s brilliant and in this case even scored the winning goal for the Rossoneri.

Bonera was having to work twice as hard since Simic was mostly a no show, and if it wasn't for him being no where in sight then Oddo wouldn't have had to cover his area and get sent off in the process.

According to Ancelotti's pre-match interview, there are a whole lot of injuries:
Cafu - back injury exacerbated during Sunday's game
Jankulovski - ankle injury during Sunday's game
Costacurta - sprain during yesterday's training
Maldini - knee pain
Kaladze - tendon issue
Pippo - muscle pull
Looks like Brocchi may start as a RB and (?) Ambrosini in central defense.
On a slightly less alarmist note, Gourcuff is over the flu and both Nesta and Serginho seem to be recovering well.
(Not sure the translation is perfect, someone with better Italian than mine may want to check).

Well I'm sure there were a few blokes who said that when Paolo made his debut when he was 16.

Now I'm being hyper-optimistic.
At least the attack looks decent. By god, Bonera will be quite a player by the end of this season. This is the 4th match in a row, he's had to lead the defensive line.
At least Pirlo and Rino are fine.

QUOTE
MILANELLO - Carlo Ancelotti spoke in a pre-game press conference today before the team’s departure for Sampdoria. He first talked about the emergency in defence: ‘Cafu’s back hurts. This started even before the game against Samp and it increased during the game. Marek Jankulovski took a hit to his ankle and it is still really painful. Alessandro Costacurta suffered a sprain in yesterday’s training. Paolo Maldini has a problem with his knee. Kakha Kaladze has the same problem with his tendon. Massimo Oddo is disqualified. Alessandro Nesta has returned and is doing pretty well. The same goes for Serginho. Pippo Inzaghi has an old scar in his thigh. It’s old stuff. He is going to be ok in the next couple of days.’
Ancelotti spoke about tomorrow afternoon’s game: ‘We have more solutions. We can move Brocchi to the right full-back position or Massimo Ambrosini to the central defender position, seeing that he has Caracciolo’s characteristics. As for Ronaldo, it is unlikely he will start. But, if he does, it will be him and Gilardino. Otherwise we will only play with one striker. We are experiencing an emergency in defence, but it’s not anyone’s fault. Unfortunately, this is just how fate has it planned out and we must not get down about it. We will be going there to win all the same because this is a really important game. We will be playing against a side that have resolved their problems. We will be playing on a difficult pitch. However, I think that Milan are going through a good moment. The morale, conviction and confidence are all there. Paradoxically, these problems could just be an extra stimulus.’
Regarding the emergency in defence: ‘We have a temporary problem because, for example, Alessandro Nesta has returned and is doing very well. After the doctor’s examine him today he could return to training with the team. He only needs to find a bit a rhythm with the ball and then he is ready. The same goes for Serginho. From what I saw from Nesta today, he could be easily ready to play in fifteen to twenty days. The doctor that operated on him, Taverna, could give him the green light today. Today he played in a training game with the team. He has the desire to play. As for the rest, various players that weren’t here today could recover in time for Saturday like Kaladze and Jankulovski. Nesta and Serginho will return after the break in March. We must pass this round of the Champions League and remain in the fight for fourth place.’
The coach continued: ‘We are trying to find the right balance, this is something that we have lacked many times this season. In recent games the defence has done really well, while in attack we did well in Glasgow and a bit less well against Sampdoria. As for third place, just a little while ago we couldn’t have even talked about it and today we can. Palermo are still far away, but tomorrow’s game is really important in this sense. Our opponents for fourth place? Fiorentina are a very talented side. Lazio are playing really well and they have the advantage of only having to focus on the league.’
Ancelotti then commented on some individual players and Wednesday’s away game: ‘Only some of the fans booed Seedorf and I think that’s just a passing problem. Seedorf has a great personality and he always goes for the ball even if he makes some extra mistakes when he does. Palermo are a team to fear because they are dynamic and quick. They have a midfield that does well controlling the play and they have strikers that are good one-on-one. I saw the game that Palermo played on Saturday against Atalanta and I saw anything but a team that are in trouble. However, I am not settling for a goalless draw. This is not in our nature. We must try to win with all the weapons at our disposal. I think that we will play with only one striker and all in all Ronaldo shouldn’t start. As for the defenders that aren’t available, we would have brought them to Palermo if there was a chance they would recover in time but this just isn’t the case. The solution for defence will be one of emergency, whether it’s with Brocchi on the right or Ambro in the centre. We tried various solutions in today’s training game. Grimi is also a possibility, he is ready and he is very determined and doesn’t have any problems. He is learning quickly. Alberto Gilardino is doing well. Yoann Gourcuff was sick with the flu up until yesterday.’
From the looks of things and what Carlo said, it looks like we will be playing like this
Brocchi--Bonera--Simic--Favalli (slight possibility of Grimi but highly unlikely)
---Rino--Pirlo--Ambro/Yoann---
---------Kaka--Seedorf----------
-------------Gila------------------
I really don't like this at all, we should be playing with 2 strikers if we really want to win since whenever we've played the xmas tree this season we've always struggled to score. Plus Oli deserves to be on the starting 11, especially after being taken off after 10 minutes at the weekend

I like your confidence but sadly it won't be that easy. we've got 8! I repeat 8 of our starting defenders missing, we've got most our midfielders retruning from injury or flu and whoever will be the striker isn't in such good form and R9 will surely not start.

Playing at the Barbera isnt easy .. In fact its the most difficult stadium in Italy (its Sicilian

) .. But after what happened there, I dont believe Palermo r 100% focused, plus with us coming on the field with 8 of our players out (injured/flue), they wont be playing at their max potential.
BTW .. is their stadium open to the public ?? That would be a factor to consider.
Overall, we will win, maybe shaky in defense, but if Kaka and Pirlo play to their standards, I believe they will move the team tomorrow.
Always be optimistic han

He played bad his last game as a RB. So what? He had there good games also (Maybe not many. He is Simic after all

) But at least he know how to play there

Ok well if he does play there and is horrible once again then we will have you to blame for trusting in him

Like that'll make a difference. If Misha can forgive Sheva, there's not a darn thing Simic could do, that would make misha hate him.

Serie A Preview: Palermo-Milan
This match is going to be a battle between two sides fighting each other for a top three finish.
When: Wednesday February 28, 15:00 (CET)
Where: Stadio Renzo Barbera, Palermo, Italy
BACKGROUND
Palermo are currently third place in the Italian Serie A table. They can further increase their numerical advantage over direct challenger Milan with a win in this fixture. It will not be easy, however. The Rosanero have just two wins in the New Year, and they struggled mightily in their 1-1 draw at the weekend against Atalanta.
Their form in 2007 has been especially unimpressive at home. Two losses out of their last three home matches have put them back in the fight for maintaining their position, rather than challenging Roma for second place.
Milan are now eights points back from Palermo, and just one behind Lazio for fourth place. The prospect of basically getting a six-point swing with a win in this match is very tantalizing. Nevertheless, it will be a very difficult encounter for a number of reasons.
First of all, is the injury situation. For most of the season, Milan have fielded a less than full strength side, and that will be the case again. Alessandro Nesta just this week returned to Europe after having spent an extended amount of time in Miami rehabbing. Serginho also remains out, and he is joined by Kakhaber Kaladze, Paolo Maldini, Alessandro Costacurta and Cafu in the stands.
The second reason this match will provide a tough test is that Palermo’s attack, despite the long term loss of Amauri to injury, boasts several players with a good goal scoring acumen. Two players who have scored seven goals this season, David Di Michele and Eugenio Corini, return to the lineup after being suspended for the weekend match, and they will most certainly be rested and ready to prevent a further climb by Milan in the table.
CURRENT FORM
Palermo (L D D, 44 points, 3rd place in Serie A)
As previously mentioned, Palermo continue to struggle to attain positive results, and they were quite fortunate to get a point from the match away to Atalanta on Saturday. Four losses from thirteen home fixtures is not a very good return for a side with aspirations of Champions League football, and they must be in top form for this match.
Milan (W W W, 36 points, 5th place in Serie A)
The initial aim at the start of the season was to simply get into fourth place in order to give themselves a realistic chance at playing in the Champions League next season, but that goal is now firmly within reach, and they can go even higher. A terrific run which has seen them win seven of their last eight and without a loss since November gives them great hope of taking away at least a point from this match.
TEAM NEWS
Palermo get back the services of David Di Michele and Eugenio Corini after they were suspended on Saturday, but Mattia Cassani heads in the opposite direction for the same reason. Defensive lynchpin Andrea Barzagli is very doubtful to be fit.
Milan are missing a lot in defense, with Nesta, Serginho, Kaladze, Cafu, Costacurta and Maldini all injured, while Massimo Oddo is suspended for his professional foul and subsequent red card on Sunday. Also, Ronaldo may be rested in this match.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
David Di Michele (Palermo) – With the absence of Amauri, he is the main cog in the attack, and will need to play well in order to stop the poor run of form.
Gennaro Gattuso (Milan) – With all of the missing players in defense, his ability to stop opposing attacks in midfield will be paramount to the Milan cause.
POSSIBLE STARTING XI’s
Palermo (3-4-3): Agliardi; Diana, Zaccardo, Biava; Pisano, Guana, Corini, Simplicio; Bresciano, Di Michele, Caracciolo
Milan (4-4-1-1): Dida; Brocchi, Bonera, Simic, Favalli; Gattuso, Pirlo, Ambrosini, Seedorf; Kakà ; Gilardino
PREDICTION
Palermo will have several golden scoring chances, due to the defensive grouping for Milan. However, Milan will also find themselves on the doorstep in certain moments with the absence of Barzagli in the Palermo backline. A draw will suffice for both teams, considering the circumstances.
Palermo 1-1 Milan
