It's cos we've got wing backs not a flat back 4 (even 3 at the back would be safer). Bonera & Maldini did very well today but it was only them in the centre. As it always is - only 2 in defense! And I think subsequently 3 in midfield looks empty as well, even if Rino & Pirlo did great. Seedorf put a lot of effort in as well. I think all this can be changed with 3 at the back and Oddo & Jankulovski external MFs!

Yeah I thought we where really good also, but the lapses in concentration in defence need to be assessed. We can't conceed soft goals like that one now that we need to win each match and no more mistakes cannot be permited.

Oli was simply great his speed and movement was perfect. Gila was really working hard olso and had some great shots.

R9 was simply great, came on and almost scored 3 goals if it wheren't for some great keeping from Amelia. His bullet shot from 30 meters was more of a super save from Amelie more then anything else. If Dida leaves in the summer we should really go for this one

Eurosport.com There's the full table. Only a win away from leap frogging Empoli into 4th. Our game against them in a few weeks will be crucial.

Oddo put in some great crosses and was really putting Livorno under pressure everytime he put one in. He hit the post with one of his crosses that was looping into the net devil.gif

Seedorf was also good

And R9 was great, Kaka was playing better once he came on and really looked like he was enjoying himself

Phew! That was close, well done to Livorno, they have a bright future ahead. As for our game, we were decent offensively but quite shite defensively. Bonera was MOM in my opinion, I'm starting to fall in love with this guy. Oddo needs to improve his crosses a little and Kakà is slowly gaining his form back, he was more consistent in the 2nd half. Same with Pirlo. Dunno about you guys but I think Andrea had a very good match. Seedorf was zero, while Rino was... well, Rino. Oli and Gila moved very well, while Roni showed he needs to catch his pace up. Still, his combinations with Ricky and the others were brilliant and his shots were bombastic. Hopefully the guys will work a little more on concentration, cause if we develop that then I think we can beat any team easily. Only 2 points shy from the 4th place now, FORZA MILAN! devilsmiley.gif

I can understand bringing a defensive type player on when we're winning and the game is tight, but sometimes bringing a player on who can run at people is just as effective. It would have been better to bring Yoann on instead of Ambro, as bringing Ambro on meant we had three DM's when two would have been sufficient. That is probably why we struggled towards the end.

Milan 2 - 1 Livorno

Gattuso 29 (M), Lucarelli 31 (L), Jankulovski 68 (M)
Stadio Giuseppe Meazza

Ronaldo made his Rossoneri debut and Gennaro Gattuso scored a rare goal as Milan continued their revival.

Emergency work on San Siro saw 28 turnstiles installed overnight, bringing the stadium up to the standard where at least the 37,000 season ticket holders could be allowed in despite the drastic new security measures to view Ronaldo's debut. Milan were closing in on a Champions League spot and took on a Livorno side without a win in nine.

With both Dida and Zeljko Kalac injured, January signing Marco Storari was given his Rossoneri debut in goal. Serginho, Alessandro Nesta, Giuseppe Favalli and Cristian Brocchi fleshed out the injury list. Marco Amelia returned from suspension for the Amaranto with new signings Stefano Fiore and Cesar Aparecido.

Livorno had only ever won here once in Serie A - a 2-0 result in June 1942. Amelia has been heavily linked with Milan and showed his talent after six minutes by fingertipping an Alberto Gilardino rising strike out of the top corner.

Kaka dummied a defender only to drill wide, the Massimo Oddo spotted the goalkeeper off his line and clipped the crossbar with a splendid lob.

Livorno also threatened with new signing Fiore testing Storari's reflexes from just inside the area. A powerful Paolo Maldini volley from a corner kick was well held by Amelia.

When the goal finally came, it was from an unusual source. Ricardo Oliveira turned provider down the left with a taut cross that Gennaro Gattuso came sliding on to for a finish from six yards.

It didn't last long, as Livorno had a furious reaction. Within seconds Storari had parried a Cristiano Lucarelli strike, then he pushed away a Dario Passoni missile, but only into the path of Lucarelli.

It was a very entertaining game with chances for both sides, as Amelia required a double intervention to keep out Seedorf, then Gilardino.

Livorno went very close on 54 minutes when Stefano Morrone got away from two markers and Fiore pushed on for Cesar, but he fired over from a tight angle. At the other end, Gattuso's diving header was well held.

Ronaldo made his return to Serie A - and his Rossoneri debut - for Oliveira at the 63rd minute, receiving a warm welcome from the local fans. Within minutes he had created a good chance, combining with Gilardino, then a deflected Andrea Pirlo strike dipped on to the roof of the net.

Yet it was another defensive player who restored Milan's lead with a stunning goal. Marek Jankulovski found space on the edge of the area and unleashed a sudden left-foot snapshot that near broke the net between the near post and Amelia's hand.

Livorno never gave in and a free kick found Fiore's header just over, while Morrone's goal was disallowed for a tight offside position.

Ronaldo stung Amelia's gloves with a fierce drive from 30 metres, but Morrone only failed to volley in an equaliser because he lost his balance in front of Storari.

Milan: Storari; Oddo, Bonera, Maldini, Jankulovski; Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf (Brocchi 75); Kakà; Ricardo Oliveira (Ronaldo 63), Gilardino (Ambrosini 79)

Livorno: Amelia; Grandoni, Kuffour, Galante, Pasquale (Paulinho 83); Filippini, Morrone, Passoni, Cesar (Balleri 69); Fiore; Lucarelli

First of all, Chill man.

About Oddo.

What I saw him do was make a few bad passes. His crosses where not bad, everytime he put in a cross Livorno where scrambling it away and having trouble, that means it's a good cross.

Yes they wheren't perfect but they wheren't bad either, the important thing is that he was constantly running up the flanks and putting the ball in.

About Seedorf and Kaka

No one said Kaka was good, in fact I think everybody said that he was bad again, but he did have flashes and he was more consistant in the second half then he was in the first.

Seedorf had a good game, like it or not. If he did have a bad game I would be the first to point it out but he wasn't bad.

About the game.

First of all you need to give Livorno some credit, they are a good team, secondly we where better and where controlling the game most of the time. The chances Livorno had where mostly being given to them by our defence having concentration lapses.

Imo we where better going forward and where actually somewhat fluent when passing the ball around, we created sevral good chances that Amelia saved (btw, I want this guy for next season if Dida leaves). Our problem was again the defence, it might have been because they where a bit rusty because Bonera and Maldini have been very solid in every game lately

I agree, Oddo's corners where bad but his crosses wheren't as bad as you are making them out to be. At this point I don't know who should be taking our corner kicks, we seem to have a million of them in a game and manage to waste all of them.

Pirlo and Seedorf where once good at taking them rolleyes.gif Kaka has never been much of a cornerkick specialist either.

No, Kaka needs to play as much as he can, we need him at his best against Celtic, and he needs to play to get back his best form. Imo Carlo should have taken off Gila for R9 to come on. He and Oli could be devistating with eachother. Plus I thought Oli was one of our best players today.

Look a couple of weeks ago we couldn't string 2 passes together. Our play is becoming more fluent, we are controlling the tempo of the game again and apart from the chances our defence GAVE Livorno, they wheren't that threatening when they where trying to attack us. Right now we should just be thankful for the 3 pts, this isn't the season when we should be whining about how we played the match, the win is all that matters. And we got that, so let's be happy about it

The defence was pretty bad today though, the lack of concentration at times was horrifying to see. The soft goal we allowed demonstrated this quite well.

I'm sorry han but when he left for Brocchi you could hear half of the San Siro booing and half of it applauding him. I personally thought Seedorf today was our worst player on the field. Good game.

Nothing special .. The closing minutes, Carlo was hanging onto the 2-1 lead .. And that could have cost us the 3 points; but in the end, it was a good game.

R9 looked weired in a Milan jersey .. I cant get it out of my head he was a merda.

Oddo did good, well and Janku .. Apart from the goal, I want Sergio back !!

I don't think Milan played all that poorly. In fact with the exception of a few defensive lapses we dominated possession and (more importantly) when R99 came on we could've scored at least 2-3 more times.

More than anything else I was really encouraged with Ronaldo's play. I think it won't be as long as many think before he starts to show sustained periods of brilliance.

If the defense improves its play i don't see why Milan can't win each one of its remaining league games.

The problem with our defence was because they where playing as individuals. And for a defence to work well it needs to work as one unit.

Janku, apart from the goal was pretty bad, made a lot of bad passes and didn't really try to cross the ball as much as he could have

But agree with you on everything else you just said.

We're 2pts shy of 4th spot and if Palermo keep slipping up and we continue to improve we might just slip into the 3rd spot

What do you mean again? Our strikers have been very consistent this start of year.

Milan 2 - 0 Arezzo: Gila goal, Pippo goal
Milan 3 - 1 Reggina: Gila goal
Milan 2 - 2 Roma: Oli goal, Pippo goal
Milan 1 - 0 Parma: Pippo goal
Roma 3 - 1 Milan: Gila goal

Our attack's been doing great so far.

This probably is just a matter of coincidence and may not mean much of anything, but did anyone else notice Arrigo Sacchi in the stands with Berlusconi and Galliani?
