Milan next for Mourinho?
Friday 12 January, 2007
Milan and Inter could turn to Jose Mourinho if the Coach leaves Chelsea at the end of the present campaign.

The Portuguese boss is reportedly set to quit the Blues in the summer after growing tension between himself and the Stamford Bridge hierarchy.

That was evident in midweek after the ex-Porto tactician lamented the fact that he would not be handed any new players during the January transfer market.

Now the Sun newspaper suggests that Mourinho has told both his agent and some close friends that he will depart England in May.

Cesar Peixoto, a former Porto player and a good friend of Mourinho, also revealed to the newspaper that the Coach is looking for a new home in Milan, which would confirm the links with both San Siro outfits.

Inter are favoured in the race to sign the former Barcelona translator and were already paired with him recently given that Roberto Mancini has yet to extend his contract which expires in June.

The Independent claims that Nerazzurri owner Massimo Moratti, who had initially contacted the tactician while he was in Portugal, is now willing to offer him a £5.2m contract.

Milan may also be interested in his unique services despite having confirmed their faith in Carlo Ancelotti.

However, the former Parma and Juventus boss may be shown the door if he fails to lead the side to Champions League football next season.

If he came to Milan and was successful you'd love him wink.gif

IMO it would be good to have someone in charge with a bit of backbone, someone who would demand Milan quality players and not just be content with freebies.

The problem is that Van Basten proved nothing as a coach. And a dutch coach in Italy... would be tatically ***** every single week.

Mourinho... well, I don't know. He's the best coach out there. It's up to Berlusconi. Ancelotti is for many years in here, probably his motivation is not the same as before... maybe Mourinho would be the right man to "renew" Milan.

Mourinho's an excellent coach but he's not a man I respect...

yes Mourinho is a great manager but he gives the media to much lip . i know he is probably trying toget the attention away from the players but that also makes him an aragant person which is not the kinda of image i want in Milan

And what has Van Basten proved as a coach? How many CL and UEFA Cups he won? Nothing. Zero.

Not trying to offend, just speaking my mind. Milan has history, culture, image kind of like a cult. Look at the players at hand; we have no trouble makers amongst Milan's squad members, a very profesional team. You bring on someone like Mourinho, sure he'll win the Serie A and CL .. With players like Kaka, Nesta, Pirlo, Seedorf, Dida, Inzaghi, Gila, Oli PLUS reinforcments .. He'll I'll win them too rolleyes.gif .. To put it short, his attitude wont hold well with Silvio cool.gif

Who knows? Probably is that type of leadership, and a bit of arrogance that is missing sometimes in Milan. But that's my opinion of course.

PS: I really hope he doesn't go to Inter. If so... some club will continue to end the season without trophies... rolleyes.gif

He isn't a wizard .. Unless Moratti pulls another calciopoli on Juve and Milan, Inter will always come in third, I'm guessing u forgot the curse rolleyes.gif

Let me tell you something about Milan, all the players you see in that club were brought by the management not the coaches, and this is why you can still see someone like Maldini and Costacurta on the pitch with the Milan shirt, it's like a family thing!

This is the way it works at Milan, coaches are here to use the players they have not to demand some name they want to get!

Mourinho Bemoans Luck Over Lack Of Bench Strength

Jose Mourinho believes that he has not been as lucky as other managers in the Premiership, and is having to do things the hard way.

Having had to make do with a make-shift centre-half pairing in the absence of skipper John Terry, the Chelsea coach has interestingly bemoaned his luck for not having players on the bench ready to step in.

He started Paolo Ferreira and Michael Essien at centre-back against Wycombe - a game Chelsea could only draw - and is unhappy with his lack of bench strength.

"I'm not even as lucky as some other people, because I don't have in the reserve team defenders with the quality and ready to play for my team," said Mourinho.

"You look at other teams - Glenn Roeder had (Paul) Huntington, and the boy who scored against Manchester United (David Edgar).

"Other teams have an answer. We have no quality defenders and players ready to play for the first team. They are too young or not good enough to play at this level. I don't even have a second squad to go and pick players."

To conclude, he admitted it was a battle for survival at the moment: "The situation was difficult and we are surviving. We are surviving, but we know it looks like it never ends. We have problems, but this is about surviving and waiting for a better squad situation, and we are surviving well."

@ Porto, you think Galliani or Silvio would actually tolerate him ?! Cuz, look at Carlo, he has no choice but use these youngsters at a time of need and is very effective with them, even thougth our prima vera arent as dependable as Ajax's or PSV's .. Yet, Mourinho is confesing he cant do without first team players.

It's nothing against him, I admire what he did at Porto, but he seriouslly has been basing his success on expensive signings left, right, and center what he and Abramovic wanted. At Milan, he say's sometyhing like that .. Mmm he wouldn't even be given a chance to wink.gif

Well yeah... defence doesn't always win. Also... offensive football can be intelligent too!!

Plus that does not represent every Dutch coach... in fact the best one of them (Hiddink that is) is not exactly the attacking type. Neither is MVB. Even Rijkard has seen reason compared to two years ago!!

What you say sounds the most likely thing to happen to a Dutch coast but I just can't be so sure about it.

OK. Tactics and the school of the coach MEANS NOTHING. rolleyes.gif
So, let's go for results/wins/titles.

What did Van Basten win as a coach? Rijkaard (without the UEFA and La Liga refs)? When 1 of those win a UEFA Cup and a CL with a Ajax or PSV... then, I'll say "They're great coaches".

Benitez, Capello, Wenger, Mourinho and Ancelotti are top level. My top 5 at the moment.

First of all, I hate his stupid hair. Second, is on my previous post.

Take out the diver (R10) and his freekicks + penalties in La Liga. Same scandal in the CL. If you take out that, he's nothing. The one behind the great Barcelona is Ajax coach at the moment - Ten Cate.

Benitez is a genious. He won La Liga with Valencia. That means a lot when you compare Valencia to R.Madrid or Barcelona.

Then he won... coff coff ... something at Ataturk with Liverpool. In that competition they kicked - Juventus of Capello and Chelsea of Mourinho - out.

The main problem at Liverpool is the $$$ he has for transfers. But I believe, if this DIC-Liverpool deal is confirmed, he's going to have a better future at Anfield.

Benitez, Wenger and carlo???? ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif

Benitez - makes strange decisions and is always looking for excuses. He was in the press this week saying livefool needed to spend more money even though they have spent countless millions since he's been there.

Wenger - is one of the best at finding young players and bringing them on, but IMO he gets too emotionall(spat with Pardew, Fergie winding him up etc) and I don't know whether he could handle the pressure of Serie A.

carlo - good manager but makes far too many strange decisions, never seems to have a plan B and can be too cautious. He also needs a bit of arrogance IMO as he seems to be a bit spineless.
