Mourinho Bemoans Luck Over Lack Of Bench Strength Jose Mourinho believes that he has not been as lucky as other managers in the Premiership, and is having to do things the hard way.Having had to make do with a make-shift centre-half pairing in the absence of skipper John Terry, the Chelsea coach has interestingly bemoaned his luck for not having players on the bench ready to step in. He started Paolo Ferreira and Michael Essien at centre-back against Wycombe - a game Chelsea could only draw - and is unhappy with his lack of bench strength. "I'm not even as lucky as some other people, because I don't have in the reserve team defenders with the quality and ready to play for my team," said Mourinho. "You look at other teams - Glenn Roeder had (Paul) Huntington, and the boy who scored against Manchester United (David Edgar). "Other teams have an answer. We have no quality defenders and players ready to play for the first team. They are too young or not good enough to play at this level. I don't even have a second squad to go and pick players." To conclude, he admitted it was a battle for survival at the moment: "The situation was difficult and we are surviving. We are surviving, but we know it looks like it never ends. We have problems, but this is about surviving and waiting for a better squad situation, and we are surviving well." Source@ Porto, you think Galliani or Silvio would actually tolerate him ?! Cuz, look at Carlo, he has no choice but use these youngsters at a time of need and is very effective with them, even thougth our prima vera arent as dependable as Ajax's or PSV's .. Yet, Mourinho is confesing he cant do without first team players. It's nothing against him, I admire what he did at Porto, but he seriouslly has been basing his success on expensive signings left, right, and center what he and Abramovic wanted. At Milan, he say's sometyhing like that .. Mmm he wouldn't even be given a chance to (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

QUOTE (Portugal @ Jan 12 2007, 06:40 PM) Do I need to explain why? Dutch = super ofensive football. | Italy = defensive, inteligent football. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Well yeah... defence doesn't always win. Also... offensive football can be intelligent too!! Plus that does not represent every Dutch coach... in fact the best one of them (Hiddink that is) is not exactly the attacking type. Neither is MVB. Even Rijkard has seen reason compared to two years ago!! What you say sounds the most likely thing to happen to a Dutch coast but I just can't be so sure about it.

Abra seems like he wants to turn chelscum into another real while Mourinho wants to sign young and hungry players.

Tactics and the school of the coach MEANS NOTHING. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) So, let's go for results/wins/titles. What did Van Basten win as a coach? Rijkaard (without the UEFA and La Liga refs)? When 1 of those win a UEFA Cup and a CL with a Ajax or PSV... then, I'll say "They're great coaches". Benitez, Capello, Wenger, Mourinho and Ancelotti are top level. My top 5 at the moment.

QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Jan 12 2007, 04:57 PM) Not trying to offend, just speaking my mind. Milan has history, culture, image kind of like a cult. Look at the players at hand; we have no trouble makers amongst Milan's squad members, a very profesional team. You bring on someone like Mourinho, sure he'll win the Serie A and CL .. With players like Kaka, Nesta, Pirlo, Seedorf, Dida, Inzaghi, Gila, Oli PLUS reinforcments .. He'll I'll win them too (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) .. To put it short, his attitude wont hold well with Silvio (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) From what I can remember, Don Fabio was very similar to Mourinho, and yet Don silvio respected Don Fabio because Don Fabio got results. If Mourhino does come and does get results I reckon Don Silvio would be more than happy (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
