I'm not content because I always hear the same excuses:
"At least we didn't lose"
"At least we got 1 point, that's good"
"We don't need to sign any players in january"
"Milan is Milan"
"Milan is still Nr.1 in Europe"
"Everything's okay, everybody has to go through rough times"

a 2-2 draw away from home finishing with 10 men i would say is a good result no matter who you are(and with 9 prima squadra players missing)
you can't keep comparing ourselves with inter as there summer was completely different to ours.
i am hopeful for a 3rd or 4th place finish because other than the top 2 everyone is and has been capable of beating each other. the way things are a good run of 3 or 4 results and we're back up there, so i haven't given up hope of getting something out of this season which might end up being a top 4 finish and winning the coppa italia! and the way things are now i would accept it biggrin.gif

Weren't that the traditional-Inter main targets? 3rd place and Coppa. wink.gif

I don't want Coppa. Just the top 3 in League.

We drew against Cagliari. Not against Palermo, Roma, Juventus, Lyon or Inter... (well, at the moment we would be smacked by those).

I dunno what to think. We started with -8... now it's the triple: -24 to the leader.
And 8 behind the 4th place. I know about the injuries and everything... but it's becoming how can I say "too usual" getting bad results. We can understand against Roma and Inter, but Siena? Atalanta? Cagliari? Lille? rolleyes.gif

We're doing a Treviso-like league. And in the CL, we're going to the last 16 'cause we were lucky as hell with the draw (groups).

Well, I'm tired of this League. I wish we were already in May.  rolleyes.gif

Why do you always compare our points to the leader's? I mean, it's not like we're going to win the Scudetto, what's the point? As for the rest, as you mentioned, we started the season with -8, now we would have 20 points and 4th place if it wouldn't have been for the deduction. I have faith in this team, and I'm pretty sure by the begining of 2007, when most of the injured players would be back, we'll start flying high again.

I compare 'cause in September Carlo said "We want the scudetto" and many people in this forum said it was possible. Just for that.

I really hope you're right. rolleyes.gif

Yeah, but I doubt Carlo predicted all these injuries, posts and referee's decisions against us.

3rd or 4th place is the same, sure thing is we're gonna reach it, I'm pretty sure about it.

i totally agree, this has been a disaster of a season already but these situations should make us stronger and more determined for furture challenges.
3rd place should be our target and we should be concerned what the points total is to that position, and if we can win the coppa italia well thats a nice bit of silverware anyway smile.gif

Hey dude we're not inter we are MILAN!!!
We always play the top positions, so don't say it's OK with the draw or we'll get the cup so it still OK, no one cares about the coppa in Italy, it's actually for the losers like Inter & Co.
We're not OK, we need to win and to win fast to reach the top of the table! We can't afford to play well, hit the woodwork every game and lose or draw in the end!!!
It's just enough mad.gif

I'm sorry, should I mention it again? WE HAVE 9 PLAYERS INJURED. Damn, is this so difficult to understand? Just look at today's match, perfect example: Pirlo was sent off, another midfielder had to take his place and remove one of the strikers. But? THERE WAS NO OTHER MIDFIELDERS CAUSE AMBROSINI, GATTUSO, SERGHINO AND KAKA' ARE ALL INJURED. Does Inter have any injured player at the moment?
han2503
First of all how the hell was that a penalty?? Last wekk against Messina Pippo and Gila had their shirts practically taken off in the box, the players got the yellow but no penalty for us. Now this week Suazo CLEARLY dived, Kaladze never took him out, and they are awarded a penalty??? Did the rules suddenly change in a time span of 1 week??

Fact is we got royally screwed AGAIN by the refs, that was NOT a penalty and Pirlo didn't deserve a red since he wasn't the last man.

This just keepes getting better doesn't it?? Now we have Pirlo suspended.

The only posistives I can draw from this match is that we scored 2 goals without Kaka being on the field, and both goals where from our strikers. btw Boriello should be killed for missing those t golden opportunities.

Suazo's pace was just killing us when they hit us on the counter, Kalac made some great saves however, that's another positive.

btw, blaming Seedorf because of a couple of bad passes? What's up with that. He played a good game.

Listen, don't compare us with Inter right now, Inter have got a bench that has enough depth to keep them going even if they have as many injuries as us. Pirlo was sent off today and we had no one on that bench that was a midfielder. Carlo has his hands so tide down right now, he only can make substitues with strikers or defenders, that's how much depth we have on our bench rolleyes.gif

Just because you say we are MILAN doesn't change the fact that we are going through a seriously rough time right now. We didn't play a bad game, even when we where down to 10 men we where better then Cagliari.

Anyone here can call me what they want to call me but this situation with the refs is getting far too ridiculous!! I think that we have already gotten cheated out of a total or 12 points this season.

Well it seems that we didn't see the same game huh.gif
Were our problems coming from the midfield? I'm well aware of how many players are injured, but it's not the point, it's all about the attitude, we can't keep thinking that a draw is OK cause we have 9 injured players! and when I look again at the game, and all the opportunities we gave away, I keep thinking this is unacceptable from MILAN players!
The way Seedorf was walking on the pitch is just too reckless for me, even if it was Kaka that would be too much mad.gif

Why the hell are you singleing out Seedorf?? He was probably our best player and was involved in both our goals!!!!

Imo our players showed haert today, first we went up, then we conceeded because of a penalty that should have never been given, the second was our fault, Suazo was a constant thorn, I can't see why they let him get away like that. And ofcourse the injuries have a lot to do with it! When Pirlo got sent off Carlo didn't EVEN HAVE the OPTION of choosing what type of player he wanted to field, because all he had left on the bench where defenders!!! That's how dire our situation is right now.

If Inter had Viera for example sent off they have a rich bench of class players to choose from, that's why you shouldn't compare us to them.

Cagliari 2 - 2 Milan

Stadio Sant'Elia

Milan only picked up a point in Sardinia, but had Andrea Pirlo sent off in a tense and controversial encounter.

The Rossoneri entered the Stadio Sant'Elia with an injury crisis ruling out Dida, Gennaro Gattuso, Alessandro Nesta, Serginho, Giuseppe Favalli, Massimo Ambrosini, Alessandro Costacurta and Kaka. Carlo Ancelotti fielded a classic 4-4-2 with Clarence Seedorf and Yoann Gourcuff on the flanks. Their results seemed to have turned with a 1-0 victory over Messina last week - their first since round 8. Marco Fortin stepped in for injured Cagliari goalkeeper Antonio Chimenti, while Daniele Conti returned from suspension.

Seedorf stung Fortin's palms from distance, but David Suazo - a summer transfer target for Milan - went on a trademark sprint up the field and D'Agostino incredibly fired the finish off target at the back post with only Zeljko Kalac to beat.

Gourcuff's long-range left-foot effort tested Fortin, but Ricardo Oliveira wasted a good opportunity by going for glory and ignoring the unmarked Alberto Gilardino.

The unstoppable Suazo ran on to Capone's long pass to leave the Milan defenders for dead, testing Kalac with a right-foot finish.

Gourcuff cut back for Seedorf only for the Dutchman to blast well over from a promising position. Kalac flew to pluck a Daniele Conti free kick out of the air.

An Andrea Pirlo set-piece from almost 30 metres whistled past the top corner of Fortin's net,

Ancelotti introduced Marco Borriello for the disappointing Ricardo Oliveira in the second half and he almost immediately earned a corner kick. Moments later Milan took the lead, as Gilardino rose to nod in Gourcuff's cross from the left. The Frenchman combined brilliantly with Seedorf in the lead-up, but there was more than a suspicion of offside.

However, soon after the referee pointed to the spot for Kakha Kaladze's challenge on Suazo. The Honduras international was running between two defenders and Kaladze was stretching to get the ball, but it didn't seem as if Suazo would've reached it anyway, as Kalac gathered. Suazo converted, sending Kalac the wrong way, and celebrated with a T-Shirt marking his little son's birthday.

Suazo caused more problems with his pace for Ferri's shot, deflected over by Christian Brocchi.

Cagliari turned the game around completely, again inspired by Suazo. He turned Paolo Maldini and brought a tough save out of Kalac, but Capone followed the move and his looping header slotted into an empty net.

Substitute Borriello equalised for Milan with an acrobatic volley. A Gourcuff corner kick took two touches before the ex-Treviso hitman spun round from six yards to thump it in at the near post.

Matters got worse for the Rossoneri, however, as Suazo won back the ball from Gourcuff and sprinted forward. Pirlo's tackle from behind was late and he saw a straight red card.

The Sardinians were furious when Lopez was on the ground inside the area - keeping everyone onside - and Milan kept playing with Borriello firing over from close range.

Despite playing in 10 men, Milan continued to have the best chances at a winner, Borriello bringing a save out of Fortin from Pippo Inzaghi's assist. Conti's touched-on free kick for Suazo was deflected wide.

Cagliari: Fortin; Ferri, Lopez, Bianco, Agostini; D'Agostino (Langella 79), Conti, Colucci, Esposito (Pepe 64); Capone (Del Grosso 82); Suazo

Milan: Kalac; Bonera, Kaladze, Maldini, Jankulovski; Gourcuff, Brocchi (Inzaghi 68), Pirlo, Seedorf; Ricardo Oliveira (Borriello 46), Gilardino (Simic 76)

Just look at it this way, had Cagliari not been given that utterly ridiculous penalty or even if we still had 11 men on the field for the entire 90 minutes we would have won this one.

Our bad period however mostly comes from the fact we have a long injury list and practically no cover because of the lack of depth on our bench, the only thing that I can see fixing this situation is the christmas break and making good use of the January transfer window

Yes Boriello was good, but he missed to GOLDEN opportunities!! And I'm usually one who comments on the fact that Seedorf likes to walk around, but come on!! He has a good game and wasn't walking around in this match. He was the one that was involved in our best chances and wasn't even slowing up the game like he usually does. The fact of the matter is we werent winning games when we had these guys. from what i've seen we continue to play poorly no matter whos on the pitch(poorly in the sense we are rarely outplaying anyone, and when we do win it's never by 2 or more goals). i think we all have to face the fact that we are not even in the top teen clubs anymore and we arent even in the top 10 in italy! we're what 15th? with the ressources we have at our disposal that is a disgrace. immediate changes are needed, like 3 or 4 players should leave right now and 3-4 new guys should come in so they can all settle in and be ready for the next season, yep it's time to TRULY recuild.

We definitely need new blood, but also pace, speed and accuracy rolleyes.gif
han2503
The killer instinct we had last season is definately gone. And that is mainly down to Pippo losing his form and us losing Sheva.

And for Seedorf, again, pace was NEVER seedorf's game, it's not something that is just coming into our view this season. And I still can't figure out why we are discussing him, he was one of our best players today, didn't slow up the pace of the game and unlike most matches he was working hard in the midfield instead of walking around like he usually does.

As for the 3-3-3 formation, if we couldn't score when the ball was practically hovering over the line and when Boriello was alone with the keeper then playing a 3-3-3 wouldn't have changed anything only increased the possiblity of getting caught out by Suazo's pace again.

Last time I remember we had all of our players on disposal was against Lazio. Since then our injury list has kept growing. First it was Serghino, then Ambrosini, Favalli, Gattuso, Dida and so on. Our current squad can't even compare for a UEFA Cup spot to be fair. When we'll have all the players on disposal and Carlo can make his decisisons in pure calmness, I'm pretty sure you'll see another Milan.

Sure, and if we take in account the fact that we hit post in almost every game, plus the referee's decisions and the fact that we hadn't our penalty point reduced, we surely deserve to be ranked n°1 in the league rolleyes.gif
Rossoneri7
This match was an improvment, the team played w/ humility and were hungry for results .. You could see it in Maldini: he was pushing so hard to keep up with Suoza .. Gilardino scored, that is a positive, and that is what is needed for us to start winning. If ONLY Oli didn't get injured, the result might have been in our favour.

In anycase, it's a draw, and a well deserved draw .. We played well, w/ what players we had left .. (Borrielo ?? I didnt expect much from him, a goal was more than I could ask for.)

TBH, we did really well w/o Kaka, now if Kaka was in the equation .. Well, if he only was, lets leave it at that cool.gif

By the way, why didn't you people talk about Gila goal?
He was obviously offside tongue.gif
So may be the ref gave them a PK just for compensation happy.gif

He was offside by a few inches. Roma scored a goal against us that offside by at least a yard. It should have been compensation for that.

Considering we have already been denied THREE obvious penalties already, then I wouldn't count on us getting one rolleyes.gif

Played well with ten

Carlo Ancelotti took plenty of positives from the draw at Cagliari especially when the side was reduced to ten men.

Carlo Ancelotti had this to say after Milan's 2-2 draw at Cagliari:

We could have won the game and it could have finished in a different manner. We had our chances even when we were down to ten men so I am satisfied about that. The team played well and went ahead through Gilardino. Then, we were setting up the match to control the tempo and force Cagliari to open up more. But the penalty was non-exsistent and that changed things and made it more difficult, but the players did well to bounce back. Kaladze was elbowed by Suazo, thier penalty was uncalled for as was Pirlo's sending off, he wasn't trying to foul but was going for the ball. I expect Andrea to get only a one-game suspension, anymore than that would be a joke...
I liked the way we played with four in midfield, I am especially pleased with the way things went after the break. We were playing too many long balls in the first half but the midfielders did well in the second.

Borriello lent a big hand, he helped improve the long balls. He's playing more and will get more space to play. I think it was an important performance for him as it was for us. Brocchi had a bit of a back problem but I think he will recover quickly. Kalac played well and showed what he could do with some excellent and secure saves.

Even if the result only served in terms of the league position, I saw positive signs in the second half. We wanted to win, the team played well on a difficult ground even when they were down to ten men, we got back into the game so that is positive. Now it becomes important that we beat Torino, taking advantage of a positive home result after this away draw is what counts. It won't be easy on Sunday, Torino have won three in a row but we have to find our consistency.

the point is we continue to rely on this old outdated squad, old guys get injured easily. all of these woes are due to our pooor decision and stubbornness and enough with the 8 pts cuz we deserved it cuz we cheated. our position in the tables is 100% our own doings, and theres no way around it. and we wont have a fully fit swuad all season because everyone is old and thats the risk you take when you do that.
QUOTE (X-Offender @ Dec 3 2006, 01:31 PM)
Last time I remember we had all of our players on disposal was against Lazio. Since then our injury list has kept growing. First it was Serghino, then Ambrosini, Favalli, Gattuso, Dida and so on. Our current squad can't even compare for a UEFA Cup spot to be fair. When we'll have all the players on disposal and Carlo can make his decisisons in pure calmness, I'm pretty sure you'll see another Milan.

i think ancelotti has no balls, no balls to admit that we suck and we cant win. this must be the 10th or 11th time this season he's said this and how much good has his positive comments have brought?

Milan never even where Charged of cheating, we where accused of unsports-men like conduct, not match fixing.

The fact that we have all these injuries is due to the fact that we have an old squad yes, I can't argue with you there.

Our posistion in the table is partly us not taking the chances we create because of our lack of sharpness in front of goal and the fact that we have been getting unfaverable ref calls all through the season which if you count have robbed us of at least 12 points already. That ammount of points would see us in the top 4 right now rolleyes.gif And this is not just an excuse, most TV experts who are NEUTRALS all agree that Milan have been cheated out a sufficient ammount of points already this season.

And of course the 8 points count. Look at Lazio who where MUCH more implecated then us, they got off scott free, and had their penalty reduced by a ridiculous ammount.

I missed the game because of work but it seems that we weren't playing so bad and the ref screw us once again

We played a good match over all, even with 10 men we where the better team and had the chance to win the game twice with 2 great chances that where unbelievably missed!

Cagliari's penalty was never a penalty and Pirlo got a straight red when he wasn't even the last man rolleyes.gif

"Milan is still Nr.1 in Europe"

Lazio's goal wasn't an offside. It was (unbelievably) poor defending by Serginho!! Anyway... the ref was bad again today but don't be one-sided, Gila's goal was offside (by a few inches or not it doesn't matter)!!

And the fact that we where DENIED penalties in other games for much worse fouls then the Suazo dive is what's bothering me.

In the Messina match it went past the redicualous stage when a player was shown yellow for a foul in the box and then there was no penalty given

I think we desrve a little of re-embercment considering the fact that Roma scored their winner against us while being off side by a mile.

Gila's goal is debatable. He was off-side while Seedorf had the ball, but Seedorf played the ball to Gourcuff and then it was crossed in. While this was happening Gila was offside then got back in line with Cagliari's defenders.

Still a debatable goal. I know but considering the ref things that have been happening to us this season, I frankly don't give a damn if it was off side or not.

I think Kaka would have definately helped. He is the one that makes our game fast, wothout him we lack any sort of pace.

dst you may hold the value of the coppa as high as a vase but it's gonna be the only thing we have a chance of winning this season. so i say why not give it ago and hopefully end up this season with a trophy and god forbid we don't make the top 4 (which i'm pretty sure we will) we have the uefa cup. all this is worse case scenerio but i can't guess what this season's gonna throw up next!!
