Daily Mail "Beckham seems to have his heart set on finishing his career with Milan". I would take him. He's better than most of the midfielders we have and if nothing else, you're going to get absolute 100% effort with him. He has a knack for helping his teams get the job done as well, no matter what.

I agree. In this setup, we lack of someone like him.

I'd be happy if we got Beckham. He's a professional through and through and has always done good things with us. If signing him means selling a couple more shirts then so be it.

Still I fail to see how this could be anywhere near enough. We need a proper attacking mid more then anything else. Although someone like Beckham who can take over that Monto position comes a close second, because I feel that this De Jong loss will force Monto into the anchor position as time goes on. Ambro won't be able to keep it up, as we've already seen when he was needed to play 3 times in a short time span.

As long as Sneijder does not sign with anyone else, I'll still be hopeful that the management open their eyes and see what a huge opportunity they have in front of them.

A few years ago and Beckham at this age I would have opposed it. But let's face it, we need all the money we can get right now!

Beckham won't demand ridiculous wages, so I don't see that being an issue. And hey, Beckham just pushes everyone's favourites Muntari and Traore down the pecking order at the very least.

But how would Allegri integrate Beckham in his system? Fullback? Striker? I think Max is already preparing his big plan (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Currently better option at CB: Beckham or Acerbi?

QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ Jan 16 2013, 12:42 PM) *
Maybe. But I'm frustrated by another thing: the fact that after so many years, for the first time they (management) failed to "sell" me their plan. I was on board with most of their moves, but this time I'm not convinced their plan has long-term potential. Why? I already explained - to put it simple - I don't think a club of legends and senators can overnight turn into the next Porto or Arsenal.

And even if we turn into Arsenal, I don't find it particularly good. We are Milan and we should be keeping our best players and not turning into a club that creates and then passes on their best players.

True, even I am finding it difficult to digest. Once upon a time we used to rule Europe and command a presence.

We should lower our expectations going forward. This is the path the management has chosen, and despite how frustrating that makes us or nostalgic on the past we get, we have to at least comprehend that this is not something to be judged now. However, something that should be judged after two years, while keeping in mind that not everything is done to perfection.

People on here call the management names, like baboons, and stress that the management is clueless. Yet they do not comprehend the fact that this management is what brought Milan to our attention in the first place. Given their strategy at the time.

Today's strategy is different, it is a radical shift whereby our focus is on developing, scouting and integrating youth into the first team setup. Galliani has been saying this since 2009, when FFP was first drafted.

Like all projects, it needs time to perfect and finalize.

Seems like Beckham won't be coming after all. Galliani said so (mediaset).

Many of your points are correct. But we must keep in mind that success, and even history, can be forgotten. If we accept this new role Milan is aiming at, we are accepting they faith of many rich, once famous clubs who are now playing mid-table roles in their respective leagues.

Where did Berlusconi pick up Milan? At the bottom. And this fact shows you how easily even a giant can fall.

My opinion is that we need a fresh perspective and a new management that is willing to invest, make sacrifices and put winning on top of their priorities. Because right now Galliani and Berlusconi have "damage control" and "crisis management" written all over them and I think they've lost their hunger for winning.

We can debate this, but I think you will agree with me that a young Berlusconi would have made different choices, even now.

The issue is related to FFP, Fillipo, so yes in general I agree with you that we are AC Milan a once powerhouse of European football and a trophy cabinet that would trump any other in comparison ... But that was not through AC Milan's income, it was through funds sourced from Berlusconi. AC Milan for all its history does not make that much money to field a top-class team.

FFP was put in place to stop the Berlusconis of world football from doing exactly that, and if Milan is today classified as a mid-table team as that is what the team can afford, then that is only 'just'. Even with a younger Berlusconi or new investor, we will only be able to build a new training ground or Stadium, funds can not be routed to pay for player wages and/or transfers.

I believe the management has put in a lot of effort with a strategy going forward, but they do not disclose much (they never did). Just that our focus is on youth.

you cannot build a footballing club without youth, it is unsustainable, feasily impossible and just plain stupid. What is happening now is a result of our neglect of youth in the last decade.

Its okay having big name players in the team but when your paying someone like flamini 4.5m for 3 years and hes not playing thats a flaw in your business plan. That player could be replaced by a youth and you could save a lot of money over time.

I couldn't say no to Kaka' returning, so long as it worked financially for us.

Two summers ago I didn't want Kaka at all because I naively thought we were en route to having a great young team built around the likes of Silva, Zlatan, Pato, etc. I thought we'd sign a good trequartista/AM for sure. right now I'd take Kaka in a heartbeat because we're too ****ed to say no to a player of his caliber (who's still not too old).
