England: It's good to dream

One things for sure, we make the best tv ads for a tournement. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

That was a good ad. The Guy Ritchie one is still the best footie ad ever, but that one wasn't at all bad. And I'm Scottish (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Yeah that ad is superb. I love the Materazzi bit, smacking him in the face. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Wasn't he playing CB at Roma this season?

Frankly I'd trust a one legged De Rossi at CB over the nuckle heads Barzagli and Bonucci

I actually saw those games when he played as CB and I thought he was pretty solid. Wouldn't mind him alongside Chiellini in defense, and Nocerino in midfield instead.

I would. It's pretty much comical for a NT like Italy to be degraded to a midfielder acting as starting CB.

As solid as a makeshift CB can be, yes. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) When I saw him at Roma I thought okay. Stuff happens. But on the NT level, in a competition of this caliber, well, let's just say that I'm with Fillipo in the view that it has a potential of backfiring. But then again, it says more about Italy's lack of quality defenders, then anything else.

Exactly. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Pity how sad things have become for the Italian NT after the talents of just a decade ago.

According to Prandelli's choices in the training today, this could and should be Italy's starting line-up against Spain:

Buffon
De Rossi - Chiellini - Ogbonna
Maggio - T. Motta - Pirlo - Marchisio - Giaccherini
Balotelli - Cassano

That's not the worst thing in the World against Spain to be honest. 3 CBs and 3 CMs will shut down everything down the middle which is where Spain are at their best.

As I previously said, the most shocking thing isn't the violence/racism, it's the higher ups attitude of "Errrr, they're not doing Nazi salutes, they're ummm pointing at the opposition? Yeah, that's what they're doing." (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

You won't want to read this then...sounds eerily similar to your quote.

QUOTE
Concerns over potential racism from fans at Euro 2012 came to the forefront Thursday when black players for the Netherlands heard monkey chants at an open training session, one day before the tournament opens.

According to a report in British newspaper The Guardian, hundreds of the 25,000 people in attendance in Krakow, Poland, targeted players Nigel de Jong and Gregory van der Wiel with monkey noises and loud jeers.

After hearing the chants, the players moved their drills to the other side of the stadium.

"It is a real disgrace especially after getting back from Auschwitz that you are confronted with this," Dutch captain Mark van Bommel told The Guardian. "We will take it up with UEFA and if it happens at a match we will talk to the referee and ask him to take us off the field."

The Dutch squad visited the site of the former Auschwitz concentration camp Wednesday.

"At least now we know what we can encounter," the Netherlands coach, Bert van Marwijk, told The Guardian. "Very atmospheric."

UEFA, the governing body of FIFA in Europe, later denied that chants were racially motivated, and reported the Dutch squad said it was not racist is nature, according to The Guardian.

UEFA said the crowd was protesting that Krakow was not one of the host cities for the Europe's largest international tournament, which begins Friday.

"You need to open your ears," Van Bommel told The Guardian about UEFA's response. "If you did hear it, and don't want to hear it, that is even worse."

And yet some wonder why I have such strong opposition to UEFA and FIFA? Disgusting.

June 8 games

Poland-Greece - 5pm (GMT)
Russia-Czech Rep. - 7:45pm (GMT)

I'm going to predict 2-1 Greece and 1-1.
