Udinese's backups draw Celtic in the worst reffed game i do believe i have ever seen. aside from the Pen at the end for Udine, The ref was Celtic's 12th man... All's well that ends well (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) .

Why do clubs rate the Europa League that low? I mean, most of the teams are starting with reserve squads, which shows how much they care?

Because it's a load of shite? It's truly the bowels of European football. Any tournament with a country's second tier playing in it (Birmingham) plus with shite like Maribor and Malmo is not exactly the creme de la creme. Udinese and others would rather qualify for the CL by prioritising Serie A than deploy a strong team for this garbage cup. |

Teams who don't take it seriously generally aren't good enough anyway.
Villa got to the KOs a few years back and put out a bunch of kids. We went out to CSKA who fielded the likes of Akinfeev, Dzagoev, Krasic, Vagner Love et al. We were never good enough to win the thing. To be honest, I can't remember the last time a bad team won it, Parma maybe? The rest were pretty damn good. |

I dunno, Porto ('03), Valencia ('04), CSKA ('05) Sevilla ('06/'07) and Atletico ('10) were very good teams and it's not so easy to say that the only reason Italian clubs didn't win it is because they didn't try. even if they did try, they probably wouldn't have beaten these sides.

I meant Porto is one exception during one tournament. Italian sides should be able to reach the finals, and who knows even win a time. Now they are not even (or rarely?) in the QF's or so for how long?

The UEFA Cup was full of Shellbournes and Maribors, but never then less presented a respectful tournament most of the teams tried to go as far as they can. I think a big stupidity was inventing the league system. Small clubs cannot play the 2 match rhythm (no depth) as clubs like Milan or Madrid can, and that's a part of the problem. I don't agree with this they are not trying business, we could all make that excuse. England don't try in World Cup's, Milan don't try in CL etc.
