QUOTE (Dracoris @ Jun 6 2010, 02:49 PM) *
Alves is extreme quality same as Marchetti, we would be lucky to get either one.

For what it's worth, the press conference of the opening day of training is going on right now and is being reported in real time on tuttomercatoweb (you do need to hit F5 to refresh):

link

EDIT:
Things said so far (paraphrasing here):
* He's spent 1.1 billion euros on the club in the last 25 years; it's not true that there's no money
* Nice words about Allegri
* Nice words about Yepes, Amelia and Sokratis.
* The club's investing a lot in its youth setup
* Real has asked for Thiago Silva; he has said no
* After some of the high-wage contracts expire at the end of this year (in June 2011), there'll be a turnaround with attention to the youth
* Ronaldinho's staying, his contract will be renewed, he's the most decisive player Berlusconi has ever seen (this fish just oy at the last statement)
* Nice words about Leo but a comment that they disagreed on how the team was lined up and Berlu thought he was on the wings too much.
* He hopes to see Ronaldinho in a more central position because he has goals in his blood. He's convinced that the squad's already good and it's hard to find better players on the market. The team will continue to work on its youth setup for the future. Nobody's leaving Milan but if there are possibilities on the market, we'll see (not sure if he means possibilities of sales or purchases here)
* He didn't like seeing Huntelaar fielded as a winger either.

And continuing on:

* He likes Rino, would like him to stay, but Milan never keeps a player against his will. (Fester pipes up and says there have been no official offers for Rino).
* He's against putting Milan on the borsa (stock exchange) as he thinks it is too risky.
* He doesn't think Ibra'd fit in.
* His kids aren't interested in running the club and have other stuff going on; he's counting on his grandkids to pick up club leadership.
* Fester says there haven't been any actual offers for Ronaldinho submitted to the club.

He's really lost touch with reality, hasn't he?

Not it's an average of 65 million a year. And no that does not involve only transfers. Our wage bill alone is 100+. He's not lying. But he is taking credit for something that is nothing unusual.

Of course he spent 1.1 billion for the club, the question is how much has he earned from the club ?
I'm sure that the value is much higher than 1.1 bil.

Actually, probably not. Football clubs don't usually earn much profit.

It doesn't mean anything. It's like me driving at 120 kph on the road..and then saying something like, "I cover 33 metres ever second!!" It sounds impressive..but it isn't.

EDIT: This might be Zee's last season!! 8 years...I'll cry for this one too! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cry.gif)

If what he said is true about spending more money on the youth setup then I'm all for it. I mean I would really love to see some of the young players be promoted to first team. It's because we do have some talented players in the primavera like albertazzi, verdi, beretta, strasser, de vito, merkel etc.

Our first team:
Ronaldinho, Borriello, Pato
Ambrosini, Pirlo, Flamini
Antonini, T.Silva, Nesta, Papastathopoulos
Abbiati

Our second team:
Oduamadi, Huntelaar, Verdi
Strasser, Seedorf, Gattuso
Zambrotta, Yepes, Bonera, Abate
Amelia

And then we also got others including Oddo, Kaladze, Inzaghi, Jankulovski and Onweyu. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Question: comes this close to anyone's ideal Milan for 2010/11? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/innocent.gif)

I have to say we are good in central defenders. We got a lot of depth in defense, but our depth in fullbacks is not from high quality. Defense including goalkeepers worries me the least. We got enough strikers, but if Pato is out then we might be in trouble again. Though my biggest worry is the lack of some attacking midfielder with pace (who can go wide on the right side). I feel like we have a problem if any of our starting forwards is out. Anyway, I hope to see some chances for youth like Verdi and Strasser. I have more faith in Strasser than Gattuso actually.
