QUOTE (X-Offender @ Dec 23 2011, 02:56 PM) But we already know Mexes is a top defender. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Who is prone to rare howlers. I personally still trust Nesta more in the event that they are both fit. Next season we'll have to see whether Nesta will stay on and if he does his fitness would have to be assesed carefully in order to determine how many games his body can handle.

QUOTE (William405 @ Dec 23 2011, 05:13 PM) And,Nesta is also prone to howlers at this age.But when he's 100percent fit,and focused(and he will be in special CL matches),he's one of the best out there ofcourse. I don't think I've ever seen Nesta commit a howler. Slight mistakes here and there yes, the ones where we say "Nesta should have done better there". Maybe it's because I'm a bit biased towards Nesta, but I don't think I've ever seen him commit big howlers

Well, with Roma, which still wasn't the top-top level. With France also never on real highs. I'm not telling Mexes isn't quality, I just think Nesta was, is and will always stay better while Mexes has still to prove himself on top level with Milan.

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Dec 23 2011, 06:14 PM) Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Who said anything different? QUOTE Personally, I consider him a top CB and by next season he'll be the main choice alongside Silva. I'm not necessarily disagreeing, I'm only warning that we should try him out more properly. Not so long ago some of us here considered Taiwo as a absolute starter LB.

QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ Dec 23 2011, 08:04 PM) Who said anything different? No-one, just saying. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ Dec 23 2011, 08:04 PM) I'm not necessarily disagreeing, I'm only warning that we should try him out more properly. Not so long ago some of us here considered Taiwo as a absolute starter LB. You can't compare Mexes to Taiwo. Mexes has been playing his whole life in Serie A. The guy is super reliable. Taiwo had only proven himself in France, and my and others' considerations were based on his performances in Ligue 1. Likewise, Tevez might not adapt to Serie A. But we all consider him an absolute starter, don't we?

Well, I knew you'd say it's a bad comparison - and it really is. My point is, people tend sometimes fixate certain players as "starter material" or proven class, but in reality almost nothing's for sure. QUOTE Likewise, Tevez might not adapt to Serie A. But we all consider him an absolute starter, don't we? Nope, I never said anything about it. But, considering how painfully bad Robinho was for most part of this season, and that Cassano's out - yes - Tevez could easily become a starter. He has to battle with an off-form Robinho, while Mexes battles with an (maybe injury-prone, yet) world class defender.

QUOTE (William405 @ Dec 24 2011, 01:08 AM) I think it's when he become physically tired, that it happens to him.Yes,it's very rare though... And those are usually small mistakes not big howlers imo.

Mexes is a good 7-8 years younger than Nesta, Nesta is WC no doubt but he isnt exactly irreplaceable nowadays, im happy to see that mexes has had a run of games in defence - hoping this trend continues. Personally id rather see nesta filling in fewer games and mexes playing more regulary especially in serie A, is yepes on holiday ? (IMG: style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

QUOTE (William405 @ Dec 24 2011, 06:51 PM) Yes,but it's Nesta!I tend to overcriticize because of how good he is. Agreed, I'm usually shocked by any mistake, big or small. It's something so unexpected, because even last season, he was better than the majority of the top CBs around imo. Only a few could come close to him when he's in form and fit. Even Thiago can still learn a thing or 2 for the future, as he is an obvious future leader in the team, plus already being given the arm band at this club says a lot imo
