I hope he gets the timing right. At the moment he's still playing well and he has no need to retire, but I hope he doesn't put it off to the point where he's declined so much in his last season that it becomes hard to watch him. Maldini was a little like that.

Maldini was actually needed until his last day. Mostly because our defense being awful back then. So I disagree. When he retired he was missed a lot.

They'd have run riots the way we played our game back then, the state of our DMs, and whatnot. If anything, I knew Paolo could have played another 2 years at the top level, maybe not as a direct starter, but a super sub. I am of the firm believe that not every Tom, Deck, and Harry should play till ~40, most just can't keep up. |
