Injuries are injuries. Gattuso could be injured right now until may 30. But i bet you he'll be included in the squad. Lippi has his players he likes and it will take a lot for them to be dropped.


Furthemore, i said etc etc. There are other players, who should be included but are not.

From our own team, Antonini, borriello deserve a chance. Especially antonini, he's been playing better than grosso.

When italy won it in 06 they still had the quality players. They had the world's best defender and one of the world's best midfielders at that time. They also had buffon who was a monster in net.


This is the same team only 4 years later. Will Piro, Cannavaro, zambrotta etc etc still be able to pull of a win? I personally dont' think so.

Being a team is nice and all but you have to have the individual quality to be able to win.

I don't really want to get into this argument. it's all predictions and they don't mean anything more than what they are: PREDICTIONS! no one can say theirs are facts. that'd be ridiculous.

FWIW, I think Spain are the favorites this time. but I won't rule out powerhouses like Argentina, Italy, Brazil, Germany or even England.

If you're going to compare two teams, I think it makes more sense to compare each team's attackers with the opposition team's defenders, as they are the ones they will be facing. If, say, you compare Portugal to Serbia, then most will agree that Portugal has the better attackers of the two, but in order to make a sensible comparison you'd have to weigh up Serbia's defence.

I know there are Italy fans here...and I'm neutral to NT competition usually. I pick a different team to support each tournament.

But I have to agree with Bluey's assessment. Probably the laughing at Di Natale vs Villa might rub some people off...but I think everyone realises that Villa is head and shoulders above Di Natale. If you were to keep both on a price tag of 15 million and say you could buy one but only one..rest assured every big club would go for Villa.

Not to mention the most important fact.

Villa is the point of that spear which is the much-feared Spanish attack. Di Natale hasn't managed to translate half his prowess with Udinese into the Azzuri colours. This is a no-contest.

And I think comparing strikers/forwards is the one of the few comparisons in football which can be made objectively...since the job of a striker is mostly to score goals.

So I think it might be a little more difficult to compare defence vs defence AND mid vs mid..since these essentially work in packs rather than solo and contributions are from a overall perspective.

For that matter,I think Bluey is within his rights to 'in his opinion' point out the factors which make the Italian NT inferior to the Spanish NT. And while his tone might be argued as 'presumptive', I don't see any real hatred in his comments. Saying the Italy NT sucks is not the same as saying Italians are cr@p.


For the record, I'm thinking of supporting England this WC, if kurt, m1ke and M_I_B will guarantee they won't go overboard with the gloating in the event they win. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I have no problem against italian players, I like a few them quite a lot actually. I'm just saying Lippi's Italy team sucks and it does. Confeds proved it, Euro proved it.


It doesn't have what it takes to compete with the likes of spain.

Nesta may not play World Cup in South Africa!

but 2006 victory leaded to injury in 2007 and Nesta is thinking about not to play
World Cup this year and Lippi respect that but it's not 100 % that he won't play

Milan Send Alessandro Nesta To Rome Clinic For Knee Injury Examination - Report

Milan have sent Alessandro Nesta to Rome's Villa Stuart clinic so he can see specialist professor Mariani in relation to his knee injury, said the club on Thursday.

Nesta, who missed the Champions League defeat to Manchester United with the problem, faces an anxious wait over the extent of the knock he sustained.

A statement on the club's official website reads:

"Alessandro Nesta will undergo a visit tomorrow [Friday] morning at the Villa Stuart clinic following a trauma to his right knee."

Milan confirmed Daniele Bonera and Luca Antonini will have tests at Milanello in relation to their muscular injuries. Alexandre Pato is expected to return to full training next week.

The rest of the team took part in a light session on Thursday afternoon following last night's Champions League clash.
