If it's true, that would be worst news I've heard all year. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) But I can sense it's just some journalist scavenging some food for his family - meaning fabricating things, as Trini just said. Nesta will be back, I know.

It is great, that Sandro doesn't play for National Team, if he would play, he might retire at the end of this season.

He won't 'quit' football all of a sudden, but saying he won't be able to play regularly again is not bullsh1t imo. I mean, Sergio is there for all to see. he rarely played in his last years with us.

It's a serious back problem we're talking about.

i fear the worst. every time it seems like he's a week away it somehow turns into "injury flames up out for another month..." realistically the rest of his stay at milan will resemble fat-naldo's stay with us..

The most recent theoretical return was that he'd rejoin the squad for the winter ritiro to Dubai. Haven't heard a word about how he's doing in Miami tho.

QUOTE (GOAL)
Nesta Flies Back To Milan… To Go Under The Knife?

The injury-plagued stopper is about to leave Florida, but could be forced to undergo surgery, and the Rossoneri are already weighing up potential January recruits to replace him...

Alessandro Nesta’s injury woes continue, as he looks set to turn to surgery in order to resolve his back problems once and for all.

The 32-year-old has yet to make his official debut this season, as he has only featured in a friendly game in Albania on October 14.

However, just when he seemed on the verge of returning to action, his back pain flared up again and Milan granted him permission to fly out to Miami to undergo a course of physiotherapy.

But Sportmediaset reports this morning that his intercontinental journey was to no avail, and he is expected to skip the Rossoneri winter camp in Dubai after Christmas.

It is alleged that the medical staff are mulling over the possibility of operating on the disc protrusion that has been tormenting him since last July, and the Diavoli are already in the process of scouring the transfer market for replacements.

Their main target seems to be Palermo centre-back Andrea Raggi, who is struggling to settle in at the Stadio Renzo Barbera, but Atalanta man Leonardo Talamonti could also be a viable option.

I don't know how reliable this news is. doesn't sound like BS to me..

If having a surgery means he'll get over it then he should have it even if it means he'll be out until next season. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif)

Damn I want to see him play again! It's so unfair...

Talamonti... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) that's my nickname on the field...

^^ It's a more or less accurate translation of the Mediaset article, zd. While I don't necessarily trust goal.com, Mediaset is usually reliable when it comes to this sort of thing.

The Stampa article is pretty much BS, which can be said for just about any Italian Milan-related news outside Gazzetta dello Sport.

QUOTE (Channel4)
Nesta: Don't write me off

Monday 5 January, 2009

Milan defender Alessandro Nesta is close to returning to action and is in a defiant mood.

The former Azzurri star has been unable to make a contribution to the Rossoneri cause this term due to injury problems.

There have been suggestions that the 32-year-old could be headed for retirement, but Nesta has no intention of hanging up his boots as he prepares to return from Miami where he has been recovering.

“I will be back in Italy on January 14 and the day after that I will be back at Milanello for physical preparations,” Nesta told Il Giornale.

“I know everything that is happening in Italy as I keep in touch and know exactly what is written.

“I know that you journalists have been predicting the worst and have said that I will never recover physically.

“However, the work I have done has paid off. I worked hard during these weeks and I am ready to return to Italy. I will not end my career yet.”
