ITALY/ AC MILAN, Closing in on Fabregas

Italian newspaper Tuttosport is reporting that AC Milan GM Adriano Galliani could soon sign Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas from Arsenal after recently meeting with him and the Gunners coach Arsene Wenger. The Spaniard could join AC Milan on a five-year deal at four million Euros per season. More developments are expected in the coming days.

Silvio Berlusconi will arrive at Milanello today to discuss the club's transfer policy with Leonardo and Adriano Galliani.

Milan have made just one signing this summer, much to the disappointment of the Coach, the players and the fans.

They expected a lot more, especially after the club sold Kaka to Real Madrid for £56m last month.

Leonardo has asked for reinforcements on several occasions this summer and enjoys the tacit support of Galliani.

They would like an experienced target man to lead the line up front and another body both in defence and midfield.

However, Berlusconi has other ideas. He would like the club to only sign players who are under 23.

La Gazzetta dello Sport believes the summit marks a turning point that could well see Berlusconi open his wallet.

That said, it is a delicate moment for him in politics and he cannot be seen spending vast amounts of money in football when the economy is grinding to a halt.

Pirlo deal gets complex

Milan are trying to work their transfer magic, selling Andrea Pirlo to Chelsea in return for cash plus Claudio Pizarro who will be exchanged with Sevilla for Luis Fabiano.

To the dismay of fans who thought Kaka's £56m sale to Real Madrid was enough to kick-start a summer spending spree, it appears Pirlo's departure is now crucial to Milan's transfer strategy.

Chelsea are prepared to increase their offer for Pirlo to £10m, which should give Milan the means to up their own bid for Fabiano.

By getting Pizarro as well, the Rossoneri will be able strengthen their hand even further as the Peru international would provide Sevilla with a good short-term replacement for Fabiano.

Any money left in the kitty looks set to be spent on Real Madrid's Mahamadou Diarra who will take Pirlo's place in the Milan midfield.

The Mali international was a target for Juventus earlier this summer, but the Turin giants ended up buying Felipe Melo instead.

Silvio Berlusconi is due at Milanello at 12:30pm BST where he will hold talks with Leonardo and Adriano Galliani.

Discussion will focus on the club's transfer policy, the direction of which has caused a great deal of friction this summer.

Milan are planning to sign Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas, with Rossoneri club president Silvio Berlusconi having given the move the go-ahead.

According to Tuttosport, vice president Adriano Galliani has a pre-agreement in place with Berlusconi over the Spanish international, and Gunners coach Arsene Wenger has promised he will sell Fabregas to the Italian giants.

The report suggests Milan will offer Arsenal around €35 million for the midfielder. Fabregas will be tempted with a five-year deal worth €4m-per-season. Just weeks ago Berlusconi claimed he wanted players who were under 23-years-old, and Fabregas fits the bill.

A meeting that was scheduled for 12:00 CET today between Berlusconi, Galliani and Leonardo to discuss Fabregas has been cancelled. It has been rearranged for Wednesday.

During the meeting, which has been labelled as a 'G3 summit', the trio will discuss plans for Fabregas, Andrea Pirlo's future and Luis Fabiano's possible arrival.

Lets get serious for a second i think we all know Arsenal wont let him go for anything under 20mil that said they will probably ask for 30+mil imo this is all fantasy league stuff never going to happen
