Milan Join Inter In Diego Milito Race – Report
Milan are planning to flex their muscles and fight Inter for Milito...


Milan are planning a move for Genoa striker Diego Milito, attempting to hijack Inter's plans to sign him, according to reports.

Sportmediaset claims the Rossoneri are monitoring the striker in case they miss out on Arsenal's Emmanuel Adebayor. The report suggests sources close to the Milanese club have revealed the directors are intent on raiding the Stadio Marassi ahead of bitter city rivals Inter, who are also after the striker.

Milan are looking to insert Marco Borriello, who played for Genoa last year, as part of the deal to land Milito. However, voices in the port city imply that president Enrico Preziosi wants a cash deal of €27 million in order to part company with their man.

'El Principe' has scored 19 goals this term for his side and he has attracted interest from several clubs. However, landing the hitman will be tough as Preziosi is playing hardball over his star man. The president has made it clear that he will be keeping Milito if his side qualify for the Champions League.

Genoa are currently one point behind fourth place Fiorentina with four matches to go.

To be honost I think it would take a really large pile of money to get the board to sell Pippo. He might be 36, but he's on top of his game at the moment. He has never been a physical player, he's never relied on strength nor speed, he's only ever relied on his 'smarts', and that doesn't decrease with age. If we ignore the fact that he can't play two games a week anymore, then I'd say that Superpippo haven't ever been in a better form than what he is now. I see no reason why he couldn't play at least two more seasons.

In other news, tuttomercatoweb is reporting that Milan have approached Genoa about Milito. (part of me suspects that, if it's true, it may be to annoy the cugini as much as anything)

They're also reporting that Ibrahimovic has put his house in Milan up for sale, which they take to be a sure sign he's leaving.

#11 Marco Storari
Didn't find the space he hoped for at Fiorentina and they're not likely to buy him. Hard to see him staying at Milanello even with Abbiati's injury. Could be used as part of a co-ownership deal, possibly in a trade for Marchetti.

#10 Willy Aubemeyang
One of the biggest flops of the last Primavera. Went to Avellino and had a disaster of a year, only scoring his first goal last week. Little hope for a high profile career. Most likely he'll end up playing in Switzerland like his older brother Catilina.

#9 Luca Antonelli
Does well when fielded at Parma and well liked by their management and fans. Logical to think that he could end up sold to Parma as part of another deal between Ghirardi and Galliani. Not a phenomenon but a good solid player.

#8 Massimo Oddo
Bayern isn't even joking about keeping him. One of the worst buys made by Galliani and the transfer to Bayern had implications: the hope that Milan would find a home for someone ready to pay the high salary of a world champion. Lyon has shown interest in the past, as has Fiorentina.

#7 Davide Astori
Pretty much unknown until a few days ago until Ancelotti commented that he liked him and that they were keeping an eye on him. Not a lot of games for Cagliari -- if he hasn't matured there, would he do so at Milan? Maybe he'd be recalled in case Favalli doesn't renew to have an extra centerback on the bench. He may be recalled, with the much more promising Matteo Darmian going to Cagliari in exchange.

#6 Romano Perticone
After a bad period at Livorno, doing well. His coach speaks well of him and he's matured more than Astori. If Livorno do well in the playoffs, he could stay with them in Serie A.

#5 Pierre Aubameyang
On loan in the French second league at Dijon. 32 games and 8 goals, he's drawn the interest of a lot of Ligue 1 clubs, particularly Lille. His future most likely in France, still on loan, but kept under observation.

#4 Alberto Paloschi
The current thought is to bring him back as someone who won't just sit on the bench at Milanello; a lot of clubs are ready to take him on loan for next year -- Cagliari is first in line (as they're losing Acquafresca). With Inzaghi at Milan another year and Borriello recuperated, another year on loan might be best for him.

The fantasista wants to play in rossonero and he's got the skill. Called up for the U21s. Galliani and Braida like him. Perhaps next year at Genoa (who own the other half of him) or perhaps next year at Milan.

Always the last to give up, the fastest player in Serie A. Torino risks not being able to keep him - not because of money but because Milan may want him back. Very popular with Milan fans. His father is on staff. Ancelotti would do well to consider him in another role instead of the wing position he currently plays. Midfield, trequartista, RB. The important thing is that he comes back.

He's the key to Milan's market and the problem is that the decisions aren't all up to Milan. Bordeaux has until the end of the month to buy him out. The player and his father want reassurances that he'll be more than a benchwarmer. Letting him go (aside from the buyout) would be the worst possible start to Milan's market.

Abate is good but he'll never fit in under Carlo's system, I think permanently selling him would be the best option, same goes for Storari and Oddo, who I can't really see coming back, although I do think we're a fullback short

He's not that good defensively but Serginho was much worse. Then again, Serginho was also much faster. I think we need a LB. Zambrotta can play there and be effective but he's still better at RB.

Can Abate play in the mid-3 on the right? Though perhaps Yoann would be better in that respect. With his speed, Abate should probably be further up the field, playing alongside Kaka/R80. But is he that good?
