QUOTE (Jack Sparrow @ May 2 2013, 08:38 AM) Dude...the expression ad nauseam is really relevant here. I don't know why you're on this 'wages BS' kick. If you're going to sit on your high horse and go on about how foolish our management were 6 to 7 years ago, then that's fine. But it ends there. Nothing's going to change that is it. What R7 and I and Filippo and even that fraud Birminghamer is interested in is the way forward. The Milan way of managing was over the day people with deeper pockets came into the game. We could no longer play for scraps at the same table. Hence we've changed our management style and it takes time and some deep sacrifices. A bit like going from corporation to start-up mode. No more company cars and free/unlimited coffee.
So stop being all depressed and complaining. You have great points in your posts at times, but 80% of your total posts are on how 'retarded' Galliani and Berlusca are.
Now, I've mentioned this before I'll spit it out again. I'll keep it short.
- Silva: Sold for the transfer fee. NOT for his wages. Unless you had a better plan to plug in a close to 60 MM operating deficit. - Ibra: Let go primarily for his wages.
The combined deal would make it look like Ibra went for a really low transfer fee. But that's just normal football transfers. Ibra went for a low fee, the same way Eto'o went for 'only' 11 million to Inter. They were on their last year of contract and their current club could not afford to renew. In such cases, the player's transfer fee by rule of thumb is equal to his year's wages.
Hence ~ 12 million was paid for Ibra, PLUS the 12 million we saved from his contract wages.
I'm sorry we had to sell Silva. Defenders are harder to get, and in the long run Silva would have helped rebuild a spine.
I think Ibra not being there will be tided over in the long run, but has hit us hard in the short term- this season. We would not have had such a bad start to the season, or be struggling to keep third.
But from a longer view- At the price of a less impactful Boateng, and a virtually useless Noce - we have gained SeS and Balotelli and possibly some space for Niang to play as well. And there's still room in the wages. First of all, if you'd been more observant you would have realized that I have nothing against the way the club is going. If anything, I welcome it. But you must understand that we did this to ourselves. Secondly, I do not complain about Galliani and Berlusca all the time. I could say I complain about Allegri, Muntari, or Niang 80% of the time, but I only speak about our management when the situation requires it. Thirdly, Eto'o was sold for €30 million, not €11 million, everyone knows that. That's why people kept saying that Ibra cost more to Barça than Kaká to Madrid. Finally, you're right, Silva was not sold sold for his wage. But what really made that scenario unbearable from a fan's point of view was the whole stay-go-stay-go BS. At first Galliani was 99.99% certain that Silva would stay, then PSG make an offer and he's as good as sold. Then Silvio "steps in" and cancels the deal: Silva is staying and we even raise his wages, only to sell him a few days later. How is that not infuriating? And this is where R7 comes in. He believes in the crap that we sold Silva because we raised his wage to match that offered by PSG and then we couldn't afford it anymore. Then why the hell raise it in the first place? I think we all can affirm that Silva would have stayed with us without a raise, despite what his tw@t agent was saying at the time. Everything regarding Silva's sale was a plan orchestrated by Galliani in order to make Berlusca look good and justify Silva's sale in the end, but it was poorly elaborated and everyone saw right through it.

QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ May 2 2013, 09:25 PM) Correction X-Off, I believe we raised TS's wages to match PSG's wage offer, and thus the player was staying. Then PSG proposed a counter offer of 60MM+ and Galliani flew him in his private jet off to Paris. If you pay more attention you would learn a thing or two (IMG: style_emoticons/default/innocent.gif) This is THE biggest load of bull you've ever said, and the worst excuse for the worst bit of business our management have made probably EVER!

QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ May 2 2013, 09:37 PM) Why? Explain. I think me, x-off, kurt, Filippo, etc, etc, etc basically every poster on this forum aside from jack has explained this over and over to you when we get into it. I'm basically tired of repeating myself trying to explain to you the huge f@ck up Galliani made in the sales of Thiago and Zlatan. It's pointless to go over this with you again and again

QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ May 2 2013, 09:54 PM) So what are you saying? I should not post my opinion on a forum? I never said that, but your condescending replies to try to excuse the constant terrible decisions of the management have become grating to a level where I usually don't bother to reply anymore. All those people I mentioned above to you have repeated themselves over and over again when it comes to the mess Galliani made with the transfers of Silva and Zlatan. Everyone knows that it was an idiotic deal. And for you to keep saying that we HAD to increase Silva's wage because PSG simply made a transfer offer for him and consequent to this we had to sell him after increasing his wages - of the management's own free will might I add - is just ridiculously condescending of you. No one is stupid here, everyone can see what a terribly awful deal Galliani came out with. Everyone knows how the story unfolded during the summer. The sheer idiocy of it all would be funny if it wasn't so sad. And no, I'm not even talking about the merits of keeping them or not. If we had to sell them like we did with Kaka and Sheva then so be it. The club is bigger than the players, always has been always will be. But the fact of the matter is that we basically gave them to PSG for nothing when they're out spending ridiculous sums on much lesser players. We actually managed to LOWER the price we were going to sell them for. Now what great business man wouldn't be proud of that achievement? (IMG: style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

(IMG: style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Look han, you don't need to sell your assumptions to me, I know what Milan's financial state is like and keeping those two into the first monitoring period of FFP would have us not collect UEFA income first and potentially being disqualified. 60MM, 70MM, or 80MM transfer fee? PLUS wages crazy numbers, Milan cant afford the wages .. Previously Silvio would cover our losses, now he can only cover 45MM - getting them off our wage budget has reduced our losses to sub 7MM (from some 70MM). It was a HUGE blow for us, and Galliani has taken the heat. Now that the dust has settled, think a little. Sometimes you need to make decisions that is highly unpopular with the fans. I understand the frustration in that you cant make sense of it all and justify it by claiming Galliani is an idiot. In years down the line from today, Milan wont be a wealthy club when peered with Arsenal, Bayern, United, Barcelona, Madrid ... These are teams that have high-to-sold out attendances in their 'own' stadium, they have HUGE sponsorship deals, they have lucrative domestic/int'l tv rights packages, they have merchandising, and they have the # of fans to back it. We don't even own a stadium, and our attendances are 50% or below, our tv rights is a collective one 'not as lucrative', we cant attract the biggest of names anymore so merchandising will suffer, taxes? And the snowball is so big, I am amazed how the boat has not sunk, let alone compete for 3rd. Going into FFP, it will need shrewdness and a longterm vision. Again many of that wont necessarily be digested lightly by fans. So if it helps, go ahead and take your shots I was merely adding something factual that justifies the actions. Why he didn't claim a better deal than 60MM? 60MM is not something to be sniffed at. But again, if you respectfully believe we could have gotten better, then thats fine, it is your opinion.

But again, if you respectfully believe we could have gotten better, then thats fine, it is your opinion. I think you misunderstood. My last paragraph in particular speaks of what you're saying. It's just like with Cassano, our hands were twisted behind our backs and we had to sell these 3 players for variously different reasons. But the stupid deal that were struck is what's the problem here. I understand we were losing bucket loads of money and something had to give at the end of the day. But don't try to make an excuse out of Thiago's wage when he would have been more then happy to stay while earning what he was previous to the "sarcastic" contract extension we gave him for no reason a week before shipping him off. And this is pretty clear as the player himself still speaks of Milan with utter reverence almost. That's how much he loved behing here after basically being betrayed by Galliani. Zlatan as well who has had nothing but great things to say about Milan but has admitted to not talking to Galliani because he's still p!ssed at him. My point is that even if we had come to a point where we absolutely HAD to sell them, we went about it in completely the wrong way. We basically got ripped off by a team who spent only slightly less for players like Pastore for example. And this has not just happened this once but has been a constant running theme of how Galliani has done business in recent years
