I like Napoli for now. They're one of my fav Italian teams. Perhaps 3 or 4 years later when/if they become our regular title challengers, I'll start hating them. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Well the way I see it, Napoli is going with a 3-5-2. They're going to try to outman us in the mid-field. Reja already said, their tactic is going to be to isolate the forwards, which in this case means the front 3 for us. And they're depending on our DMs to screw up. They know this tactic is very efficient because they know there is no Pirlo. Napoli will stifle us by trying to pressure the deep 3 who are not too proficient at keeping possession, and then try to make a quick ball forward for their fast forwards to latch onto. Milan on the other hand might depend on counter attacks once again. We might not play the possession game without Pirlo in our side (and with Seedorf not fully fit). We'll depend on the DMs to limit the effectiveness of their fast forwards, while relying on Emerson's return to awesomeness and Rino's possession by Pirlo's poltergeist to launch a quick ball through to R80 or Kaka while Marco makes a nuisance for the 3 man defence. I hope we win, but neither a loss nor a draw would surprise me too much. I would be disappointed, but not surprised. Napoli are not Genoa. They're pretty good and have great momentum. What would surprise me though is if Milan wins and does it convincingly. Carlo will go with the stock diamond with Marco/Pippo at the head of it. If I were manager I would like to try putting a 4-4-1-1 instead, with Ronnie playing deep as well. If Seedorf were fully fit, I would have no qualms in the 4-2-3-1. |

Reja said the other day they will try to limit our striker(s) and yet we're going to play with only one striker up front. can Borriello (or whoever is going to play) really do something?!... I doubt it. |

Depends. If it's Borriello whose playing then in the words of our management he will 'sacrifice' himself for the team's cause. Make a nuisance of himself and try bringing our goalscoring treqqies into play.
If it's Pippo then I think Kaka and R80 will 'sacrifice' themselves by taking turns to track back and leave Pippo to tap in. If we had Pirlo back, I would say we can win with confidence, but since we don't and Zee isn't fit, I'm a little worried about this match. In fact very worried, since it's a long time since we built any momentum. To be honest, I'll take 3 points even if Napoli have 90% possession and we win coz of an offside goal or a dive penalty. There's good news and bad news from today's training.
The good news: Nesta, Senderos and Kaladze followed the entire training session with the group. Pirlo ran laps around the perimeter of the pitch. (first time he's noted as having been outside the gym since his injury, I think). The bad news: Borriello trained separately. |

I just managed to watch the highlights of our Siena game. man, Pato was great. what technique he possess! too bad he will be mostly judged by the number of goals he scores [I'm not one of those people but I have to have Pato reminder in my sig for some reasons...]. What surprised me is that he wasn't exactly playing as a striker. he was a winger most of times! like a true #7. I think I have to take my dream of seeing Pato score a great number of goals every season to my grave. Carlo doesn't let him be a pure striker, it seems. @ Darunia Call it wishful thinking but if Borriello doesn't make it I expect Pato to play for a number of reason. it's Napoli (deja vu) / he was great a few days ago... It'll be a confidence boost for him if Carlo lets him play again, against a team he has fond memories of! |
