QUOTE (Zed.D @ Dec 18 2008, 12:42 PM) IMO finishing runners-up in a UEFA Cup group is a shame for Milan, Fillipo. considering we always used to top our CL groups easily.
--
I'm not going to repeat myself anymore. I just have to say, people are not blind. Milan is in deep sh1t and everyone can see it. this is not how a club as big as Milan performs. I'm waiting for changes... a change of coach... a change of philosophy in the transfer markets. otherwise we will remain like this. Milan - Red Star 1:1; 1:1 (second round 88/89) Milan - Aarau 1:0, 0:0 (first round 93/94) 1996/1997 - Milan finishing third in group C with 7 points, behind Porto (19) and Rosenborg (9) 1999/2000 - Milan finishing fourth in group H with 6 points, behind Chelsea (11), Hertha (8) and Galatasaray (7) 2000/2001 - Milan finishing third in group B second stage with 7 points, behind Deportivo and Galatasaray (both 10) Milan-BvB 3:1; 0:4 (semi final 01/02)

QUOTE (Zed.D @ Dec 18 2008, 03:15 PM) If we're looking for a good defender, why do we have to wait until summer? Santacroce and Zapata... wouldn't they leave their clubs for Milan if a big and tempting offer arrived? I hardly can believe they wouldn't. and I just named two. there are more than 2 good defenders in the world that could be useful for us!
It's madness to overlook our defensive problems is January transfer window. we must get a good defender! Because January transfer window usually is a short-term window, which is used to bring instant solutions. It is madness to sell Santacroce or Zapata in the middle of the season. Would you do it? We're having a difficult time finding a defender. IMO he doesn't need to be young. And who really can say Zapata and Santacroce are good? Did they owe Ibra? Stepped Del Piero? Did Zapata shine for Columbia? Do they play CL? Too many question marks. I'm for the slow and efficient shopping when it comes to defenders. Not the Senderos moves.

Milan-BvB 3:1; 0:4 (semi final 01/02) I still think this Milan squad is more capable than finishing 2nd in a UEFA Cup group/getting eliminated from Coppa/trailing Inter by 9 points. I'm for the slow and efficient shopping when it comes to defenders. Not the Senderos moves. Is it madness to sell Santacroce in the middle of the season? of course! but we're not selling. we're buying (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) and buying Santacroce is not a madness as far as I'm concerned. I don't think we're having a difficult time finding good defenders. we don't want to find good defenders because we don't want to dig into our pockets. so far it has been the case but things could change in the summer. QUOTE And who really can say Zapata and Santacroce are good? Did they owe Ibra? I don't know much about Zapata but Santacroce is definitely good [I suggest you to watch some Napoli games]. Did he own Ibra? no, because he didn't play against Inter. but I remember he owned some of our players [including Dinho] when we hosted Napoli (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Fishdoll is rather shocked to find himself agreeing with zd. He likes Santacroce too and would be thrilled to see him at Milan. (He doesn't think it likely Di Laurentiis would sell, however).

Haha. Even Fishdoll is cautious about messing with the Comorra, zd. They're a scary group.

QUOTE (Zed.D @ Dec 18 2008, 05:43 PM) It's simple: we have to make an offer he can't refuse! Gee, it's not Championship Manager you know? I have to start negotiations, you have to do all the things to prepare such a move. What would that offer be? They'll never loose a key CB in middle of the season. And I'm not so certain. I watched Napoli matches. He's good. But he wasn't tested on a high level yet. QUOTE I still think this Milan squad is more capable than finishing 2nd in a UEFA Cup group/getting eliminated from Coppa/trailing Inter by 9 points. I agree. The stats I pointed out were just a response to your suggestion we always finished first in group stages.

Ancelotti looks to bolster squad AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has called for winter reinforcements after his side's disappointing UEFA Cup draw with Wolfsburg on Wednesday.
Ancelotti: Wants new blood
The Wolves twice came from behind to snatch a 2-2 draw at the San Siro and seal top spot in Group E. Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani revealed the Rossoneri are looking to bring in new players in the January transfer window, specifically a midfielder to replace Gennaro Gattuso who has been ruled out for the rest of the season. And Ancelotti admits that cannot come soon enough for his injury-ravaged side. "Considering the moment it seems opportune to me, even if my wish is to recuperate the injured players that I have now," he said. "We're going through a period which is very delicate. "Things have become complicated because of injuries linked to completely random events and that penalises us a lot because we are forced to go out onto the pitch with a formation that is barely tested, barely united and I am forced to position players outside their normal role as happened (against Wolfsburg). "Nevertheless this team has quality, therefore they will manage to score regardless of the difficulty of the moment. "In defence, however, we have a few more problems. Forced to play with three strikers in the second half we didn't manage to fix our defensive line. "Each player went onto the pitch with commitment and desire, but the fact that we didn't manage to play as a team put us in difficulty." The draw meant that Milan finished second in the group and are now set to be pitted against one of the sides eliminated from the Champions League. One of their possible opponents could be defending champions Zenit St Petersburg, but Ancelotti claims he is not worried about facing any side. He added: "The team that we could meet in the last 32 are all sides of a medium level and we shouldn't be worried about the draw because in February we will certainly have a high rhythm."
