From the Brazilian training camp in Singapore, Milan's new super star spoke to Gazzetta dello Sport about the Brazilian NT in the Olympics and about his new experience with Milan.
Q. So, is it true, what Carlos Dunga said, about you finding your happiness again ?Ronnie: "Of course it's true. To go to Italy, to Milan, makes me feel like I'm reborn. I feel fine in my new city. And amongst other things, in the city of which I was born, Porto Algere, there are a lot of Italians, and ever since my childhood I learned a lot about the Italian culture and their mentality which holds a lot of similarities with ours."
Q. You have lost a lot of kilograms, now what is left is for you to make a come back.Ronnie: "I work hard. I follow a personalized program, I truly feel better both physically and mentally. I feel that I am close to 100% from a physical aspect, and that day by day I am improving. On the 7th of August, (start of the Olympics) I will be in peak form."
Q. In the first morning training, with the hot and humid weather, you seem tired. Ronnie: "Yes. But it is best to suffer now, this means that I will be in better shape down the road."
Q. Ancelotti said that he is pleased with you participating in the Olympics.Ronnie: "Before everything, I want to thank him and thank Milan for allowing me to go to Beijing. Ancelotti knows that my participation in this tournament will be good preparation for the coming Italian championship. And from another point of view, after being out for 4 months without a game, I restart in the right timing, just before the start of teh Championship."
Q. What are you awaiting from your new adventure with Milan?Ronnie: "It is a new and beautiful phase in my life. I hope to bring success of which I had with other clubs in teh past, and that I remain happy and present the fans with the same entertainment of which I had presented in teh past."
Q. Dunga said that he might play Ronaldinho - Pato as his striking force, what is your take on that ? And will it be a solution which could be used in Milan too, could Ancelotti consider such a partnership ?Ronnie: "I have no problems with playing in that role. In all honesty I have played in it in the past, the best solution for the coach, is the best solution for me, and I am here to help Brazil. Even if Ancelotti wanted to test me in such a partnership, I am ready. Whether as a forward or a midfielder, I am ready!"
Q. Brazil hasn't won the Gold in the Olympics. What does this experience mean to you ?Ronnie: "In the mean time, I find myself as a lucky player because only a few were allowed to participate in this tournament twice. I was there in Sydney, and now I am here again. If we win, then that would be a dream come true. This current team has the ability to make Brazilian footballing history."
Q. In Sydney you were young, and now you are a great player.Ronnie: "The feeling is different, but you have to take caution the Brazilian NT is the youngest but it is equipped with such experience. Moreover, the whole group here is of high quality. Me, in simple terms am just an element of thsi team, maybe older in a few years, but from the desire we are all the same."
