Not saying they did not contribute (I still vividly recall both Oddo and Janks giving their all), but if Zambrotta was here instead of going to Spain after Juventus went to Serie B, he'd definitely have won the CL medal with us. Now that he's retiring, Zambrotta does seem to have one regret, not winning the Champions League.
Particularly when you consider that he's had a pretty good career. But you can't really foresee these things. I am pretty sure Zambrotta went to Barcelona thinking he would win the CL with them. But it did not work out. |

My point exactly. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) There are some players who hit the jackpot after being at top clubs for decades but never winning the biggest club prize of all, and then in the last year or two, they go to a different one and win it. Like I said, things like these can never be foreseen. Most player will always have a regret or two.
At least Zambrotta won the World Cup, not many can say that they did. And he put in a good show in 2006 too. |

True enough. Like Ronaldo has no CL winners medal, but two World Cups. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif) And at the same time, Maldini has a bucket full of Champions Leaguer medals, but did not manage a World Cup or Euro. It's all part of the greater charm of the game I suppose. I thin you equated it with life, very appropriately. One just can't tell what will happen.
There may be players who have won all these, and still can't be considered as good as either Ronaldo or Maldini. |
