QUOTE (Tennie @ Dec 30 2007, 01:41 AM) FWIW, I saw Ochoa a couple of times during the Copa America, where he was playing for the Mexican NT. He really impressed me there. (yes, yes, he's cute, but I'm not having a girlie moment. my heart belongs to Nesta). If we can't find an Italian and can't get one of the German boys, Ochoa may well be worth a look. My first choice would be Rene Adler. He's the perfect goalie for the 21st century IMO. He's playing very very consistent, no goofs, has great reflexes, is good when it comes to open the game. I don't expect us to sign him though. Amelia nad Frey are much more likely. Frey is great too, I'm not so sure about Amelias class.

QUOTE 04/01/2008 17:08 Milan Line Up Flamengo Goalkeeper Bruno AC Milan are tinkering with the idea of replacing the under-fire Nelson Dida with Flamengo goalkeeper Bruno Fernandes, according to Tuttosport. Dida has had a simply disastrous season, costing his side dearly with a huge catalogue of errors.
The most recent of these mistakes came in the Milan derby when Esteban Cambiasso scored the winner for Inter when his harmless shot somehow found its way past the Brazilian.
Milan are certain to replace Dida at the end of the season and this has seen them linked to a host of top goalkeepers, including Sebastien Frey, Artur Boruc, Alexander Doni and Gomes.
However a lesser known name has now entered the equation in the form of Flamengo’s Bruno Fernandes.
The 23-year-old is on-loan at the Rio de Janeiro-based club from Atletico Mineiro and has impressed the Milan hierarchy with a series of fine performances this year.
Rossoneri chiefs Ariedo Braida and Leonardo have both made first-hand checks on the player recently and could soon firm this up with an official transfer bid.
There are already a large number of Brazilian goalkeepers in Serie A, with the likes of Julio Cesar at Inter, Doni at Roma, and Rubinho at Genoa.

QUOTE 05/01/2008 14:22
Landreau To Replace Dida? Paris Saint Germain goalkeeper Mikael Landreau could replace Nelson Dida at Milan this month, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.
Despite their public notes of support, the Rossoneri have finally decided that Dida’s time at the club is up, following a host of catastrophic errors.
It was originally believed that, due to the lack of viable alternatives in the January transfer market, Dida would remain as Milan’s No.1 until the end of the season.
He would then be replaced by either Fiorentina’s Sebastien Frey, Celtic’s Artur Boruc or possibly PSV Eindhoven’s Gomes.
However PSG have now offered France international goalkeeper Mikael Landreau to Milan.
The 28-year-old was once regarded as one of the most promising young shot-stoppers in Europe when he burst onto the scene as a teenager with Nantes in the mid-1990s.
However his career has never really taken off as expected, despite a move to PSG in the summer of 2006.
He has won 11 caps for the national side and travelled to the World Cup in Germany.
Unfortunately he is perhaps most remembered with Les Bleus for a horrendous Dida-like error in Paris last September, which allowed James McFadden to score in Scotland’s famous 1-0 victory.
Landreau is a penalty-saving expert and is also eligible to play in the knockout stages of the Champions League should Milan decide to sign him. I remember a few of us here did mention his name one/two years ago..

They have Vicky Valdes,.. He is overrated !! Just that the Italians are looking for a potential successor for Gigi Buffon, and that lime light had been placed on Amelia. Whether he proves to live up to that standard (Gigi's successor) is yet to be seen. Thing is, he is too young to be considered for a team like Milan. To be a first team regular you have to be extraordinary in what you do, and Amelia is no extraordinary Gkeeper !! p.s. You want a Gkeeper in place of Dida, then Buffon would be the ideal pick !

QUOTE (dst @ Jan 7 2008, 07:06 PM) I don't rate Amelia either but he is certainly better than Valdes! Yeah, he is (but considering all the past Barca keepers - Hesp, Arnau, Bonano, Rüstü, etc. Vicky is the best; with the exemption of Robert Enke)...but altough the Catalans hate Valdes, he's still one of their standard players, and I see no use of replacement for him. Maybe Reina some day,..

The reason Barca are going out for a keeper in January is because their #2 has had a bad injury and will be out til next season. So if Amelia wants to go to Barca to sit on the bench, it's up to him.
There're better keepers out there.
NB -- Some of the training reports and/or news reports out of Dubai have indicated that the Primavera keeper (Offredi) has been in very good form indeed.

Exactly. But I personally can't see us getting Buffon. That window of opportunity was open during the whole Calciopoli thing and we lost it. And I can't see us ever getting a chance like that again at getting him. Maybe we could tempt Cech away from Chelsea, they aren't in a good place atm, and if we push really hard for him I can see us probably getting him. It's a big if though. But there are only a small handfull of really top class goalkeepers out there and Cech is probably the only one we could have a hope of ever getting

Cech...no, he's inviolate. We're dealing with Abramovich anyway. And we can't offer Cech anything, that Chelsea can't. Except the Serie A title. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) I think it's about time, we went about developing our own Casillas. I don't mean he has to come from the youth ranks (though 10ie looks set to call dibs upon Offredi), but we need someone young soon, I don't care what nationality. As long as he can last 10 years. Until then get someone steady. If Dida gets his confidence back (which I suspect he will, if only he'd have a strong defence, which I suspect he will if only we had a confident attack), we should probably stick to it.

We obviously can't sign any of the top 3 GKs in the world. Cech, Casillas and Gigi won't be sold by their respective clubs. IMO they're by a big margin the best in the world. We should sign a promising youngster with the potential to make it to the top IMO...someone like Neuer, Akinfeev or Adler. If there's someone within our youth that has potential...even better.

If we do go for a foreign keeper, my vote is still for Adler. He's quite young (which may mean Milan aren't looking at him) but he's absolutely amazing.
And I've only seen Offredi play once but he actually did look good and hey...it's nice to see a primavera player coming up to the first team. He apparently did well in training on the trip to Dubai too (with no offense to BMW, in the articles I read, apparently Offredi did better than any of the first team keepers).
