QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ May 19 2007, 10:05 PM) You don't NEED to take them to the Final to be called a winner. In his 3 years at Chelsea he has been knocked out by great team. 1st season: Liverpool (Eventual winner) in the semi-finals. 2nd season: Barcelona (Eventual winner) in the round of 16. 3rd season: Liverpool (Current finalists) in the semi-finals. His record is as good as Milan's in the last few years. He has done a superb job. Mourinho first season with Chelsea -> Semi final Mourinho second season with Chelsea -> last 16 Mourinho third season with Chelsea -> semi final Carlo first season with Milan -> UEFA Cup Semi Final (this is after picking the team up off the floor from the hands of that Turkish idiot) Carlo second season with Milan -> Winners Carlo third season with Milan -> Quarter final Caro fourth season with Milan -> Runners up Carlo fifth season with Milan -> Semi final Carlo sixth season with Milan -> In the final once again Now don't tell me this can be compared to Mourinho's record. The fact that we have always gone past the last 16 under Carlo speaks volumes in itself

QUOTE (milanista1899 @ May 20 2007, 01:18 AM) As I said above, I wouldn't have played our BEST 11 either, just a few (3 or 4 maybe) that didn't need as much rest as others (or that won't start/will be on the bench in Athens). But not so many primavera either. 3 or 4 who would start from the bench on Wednesday ... Started in this game; Bonera, Broochi, Gourcuff, Sergio, Simic, and Favali .. Enough dont u think (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) I'm sorry, but I dont see the point in ur argument any more.

QUOTE (han2503 @ May 19 2007, 11:15 PM) But if someone got injured in the game then what? would you really trust Brocchi instead of Ambro or Rino in the final just because we risked one of them because of 3 points against Udinese? Just think of this, if we win on Wednesday we will go through to the CL group stages without going through the qualifiers, that's as good as getting to first or second in the league. And in the end 3rd place and 4th are practically the same thing. And winning it today still wouldn't have assured us 3rd spot since Lazio will probably win tomorrow and get back ahead of us in the table I wouldn't have played Ambro or Rino. A lot of people underestimate Brocchi! Agreed, and well thought out (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Not for me! If we won and Lazio win tomorrow, we'd still be on equal points, they wouldn't be ahead of us. If they win now they'll be 3 points clear - almost guaranteed 3rd place!( (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) )

But not so many primavera either. Ok so you mean maybe Cafu and maybe Gila? But the others are all certain starters that cannot be risked. To tell you the truth it would have been better had we played like this Cafu--Billy--Bonera--Favalli -Gourcuff--Brocchi--Sergio- ----------Di Gennaro--------- ------Gilardino--Oliveira----- We would have probably won it, but maybe Calro wanted to give some of the young ones some playing time and didn't want to risk either Cafu or Gila in case of something happening to either Oddo or Pippo. All possibilities need to be considered before such a big game as is the CL final

And with just 1 game to go I can't see much changes going on in the table

(IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I see the starting lineup in Athens as: Dida Oddo Nesta Maldini Janku Gattuso Pirlo Ambro Kaka Seedorf Gila Subs: Kalac, Cafu, Bonera, Kaladze, Brocchi, Gourcoff, Inzaghi.

The fact that we have always gone past the last 16 under Carlo speaks volumes in itself Mourinho first season with Porto -> last 16 Mourinho second season with Porto -> UEFA Cup winners (Won the treble this year) Mourinho 3rd season with Porto -> CL winners (Won double + Cup runners up) Mourinho first season with Chelsea -> Semi final Mourinho second season with Chelsea -> last 16 Mourinho third season with Chelsea -> semi final I'd say that's as good as Carlo's. I'm not saying Carlo is bad, since he's clearly one of the top 5 in the world. I just think Mourinho is number 1. Remembering he's done great with POrto, hardly a European force nowadays.

QUOTE (milanista1899 @ May 19 2007, 11:05 PM) His typical blunder on the cross @ OT, giving Man U their 1st goal after 3mins. He worries me for the final. The mistakes he made last time around.. The Gerrard header was unsaveable. Smicer's long-ranger he didn't push properly and it just rolled over his hands and in. He basically handed Alonso the goal after he saved the penalty, push it away from the goal Dida, not to the on-running player. P.S. Milanista 1899, since you're from Lincoln, what English team do you support (If any)?
