QUOTE Italy defender Marco Materazzi is still waiting for an apology from Zinedine Zidane after his head-butt in the World Cup Final.
“I said sorry when I had to, but there is still someone who hasn’t done the same,†he told GQ magazine.
“I won a World Cup against everybody and I am proud of it. Many people think I am a troublemaker, but they should hear what has been said against me.
“In my life I reacted to a provocation only once and I have paid for it and I said sorry,†added the Inter defender.
“I know what I want in my life and I do my best to get it, but I have never been the ‘evil one’. I didn’t know Zidane had a sister and I publicly apologised to her.
“I didn’t mean to upset Zidane, I was just trying to avoid a goal by holding his shirt and if the referee had seen me it would have been a penalty,†continued Matrix.
“In the last few months I have tried to meet him, but he has rejected my offer. I wanted us to meet in front a photographer who would have taken a picture of him giving me his shirt,†concluded Materazzi.
All attempts at reconciliation between the two players have failed so far. Even FIFA President Sepp Blatter was unable to convince the French ace to apologise and at this stage peace seems unlikely. Football Italia

QUOTE (Locke Lamora @ Mar 2 2007, 09:02 AM) This guy is just such an @sshole. "Hey, Zizou, Marco here. Look, sorry that I ruined a perfect end to your career, tore at your shirt inside the box and said I wanted to bang your sister, but if we could meet, I'd get a photographer, and we could get this nice picture of you, retired and bitter, giving me, scored a goal in the final and still in my prime, your shirt as a sign that I'm the new you! Whadda you think, Osama.Just kidding. Hello...?" matrix did not ruin a perfect end to zidane's career...zidane ruined a perfect end to zidane's career there are a lot of things said on the field...and i'm sure a lot of them are worse than what was said to zidane...it all boils down to how you react in the situation that shows who you trully are

Matrix might be a son of a b!tch, but Zidane is known for these things, world cup 98 comes to mind when he stomped on a player (can't remeber the team they where playing against atm)

Ya think Matrix would do something like that? How is Italian football nowadays vis a vis racism? How's the San Siro specifically?
And if Matrix has made a public apology, I don't think it's right for Zidane to keep mum either. But screw the press.

I'm so sick and tired of people defending Zidane just because he is one of the greatest ever. Somehow, Materazzi has become the bad guy and was suspended and fined nearly as much as Zidane(!), which is an absolute outrage. Provocations has been common for many, many years now and just because such an experienced player like Zidane cannot handle it, he is treated like some kind of saint. I'm sure other players have heard much worse things said about them or family members, and with just minutes left in a World Cup final I think you'd have to be prepared for provocations like these. Damn it, I've heard an interview with Henrik Larsson where he admitted what kind of provocations he uses and what other players often says to him. They are no cinderella stories, believe me, saying you have banged someones mother is very common...not only at the top level.

Zidane was fined and since the couldnt suspend him ( he was retiered) they let him do some community work. What exactly is it ur saying ?

Would you also say that about Christian Poulsen (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) ?
