Personally I've never been a fan of Dida, he makes too many mistakes to even come close to being the best in the world.

You know, over time I've found that people who say "too many mistakes" and the like usually have a hard time backing it up.

You are aware that today's goal was not his fault, right?

Yep. Which is why I said This earlier (Down below)

QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Mar 31 2007, 10:37 PM)
Whether or not he could see it, some goals are just great and are destined to go in. I'm not sure he could have done much either way.

CL Final vs Liverpool
1st goal - Didn't even attempt to save it, he mis-judged where it was going.
2nd goal - How the hell he let that one role in I'll never know.
3rd goal - Made a great Penalty save, and pushed it straight back out to the guy (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

And there's some evidence of mistakes.. What a place to do them all too (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

You only watched the game AFTER Mexe's goal, right?  (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

And you obviously missed his awful clearance that nearly ended in Taddei scoring Roma's second.

"knock on wood"...  (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) That's an international saying after all!
*

Actually, I watched the whole match .. Even the interval (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Seriously though, he did very well to keep out Roma; they had 5 shoots on goal, they ONLY got one .. When everyone here thought the score should have been much more higher. In that case, he is the best (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) *knock on wood*

Dida was very good IMO. He even captured some balls than often has problems with.

And than... Alberto Gilardino - 23 million euro :S
YES he scored, but how could he miss that??????
COME ON, people make mistakes but he is a proffesional, he is paid millions just because "he is a great player" and he misses that.

BTW I jumped screaming coz I thought it was in. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

Bayern beat Schalke today, which is a tough ask considering the season they have had. Hopefully that took everything out of 'em!

Shalke have been in really bad form these past 2 or so months and have really been struggling.

In any case we came up against better opposition yesterday then them and the fact that even without counting our eight point penalty we are doing better then them in our league is proof of how unconvincing they are this season.

About Dida, yes he had some uncertain moment but let's face it, if it wasn't for some amazing saves of his we would have gotten trashed by a higher scoreline.

Gila is just a confusing plyer, he scores a goal when a player is climbing all over him and being tightly marked and then misses a sitter. He was too casual in that and really should have scored that.

But I'm n ot going to complain about being unlucky since we probably used up all our luck in the first half when we ket it at just 1-0

Are you challenging me!? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

You know, the keeper is the last player defending the goal so one mistake is usually costly.

Noone can say that Roma's goal was his fault but if you look at it again and also keeping in mind that he saved Totti and De Rossi's headers from point-blank range you can see that he could have got it. In fact, he should have got it IMO... we're talking 'bout Dida, not some "stray" goalie!

And even if he you disagree with me on that you'd be blind to deny the fact that he screwed up in clearing that cross that deflected on Favalli and Cafu only pulled a miracle to save our @sses... One mistake is enough, this time it didn't cost us next time it probably will...

ps I'm not saying he's not a good keeper but certainly not the best right now and certainly we MUST go for Buffon!

Amazing saves indeed but would you expect less from Milan's goalie? That less is those "uncertain moments" IMO... He's a rare find, but a rare find that screws up some times.

Gila is great in the air but misses a lot of chances with his feet. From a dead ball situation, he has the ability to find space in the box despite tight marking and find the net, as evidenced by his goal against Roma last night and his goal in the WC against USA. However, he has missed some glaring opportunities over the past two seasons with his right foot, such as the shot he sidefooted wide last night and the one he missed in the 47th minute of the first leg of the CL semis finals last year against Barca.

Just as long as he takes the chance that he will get against Bayern this week, because believe me he will get at least one really sharp chance in this match, GUARANTEED! If he can score a goal that helps put us in the CL semis then he will ease the pressure on himself and go a long way to rediscovering some confidence.

Gila may not be banging in bag-fulls every week but he's our main striker in the CL so let's all get behind him and the rest of the boys. GO GILA!

Err .. I though it was Pippo Inzaghi who is our main striker for CL (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Gilardino, better not start the match against Bayern ! He needs to warm the bench a bit more ! Maybe he does better when he comes off the bench, as the stats show, his goal against Roma was him coming off the bench as was his goal against the merda in '06. Maybe that is how it is ment to be for him. MAYBE han (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Exactly, he had three defenders rushing towards
mexes and the shot was strong while his vision was impaired by the chaos in the box .. It was a very difficult ball to stop.

No, I agree with you, and mistakes like that one shouldn't happen. But I'm still very greatful to him for last night's perfromance, cause Gila might have scored the equalizer but if it wheren't for Dida that would have been just a consolation goal and nothing else.

And I don't think he could have done anythin on the Mexes goal, there where a lot of bodies in the box and he couldn't see. The way Roma where taking their set-pieces in such a fast manner was really killing us and everytime we were caught sleeping. That's why we conceeded so early not because of Dida.

Well who knows why he missed that, a couple of seasons ago he would have got that with his eyes closed, the goals he was scoring with Parma are proof of this since he was literally scoring with both feet, with his head, volleys, long range shots and bycicle kicks.

It's more of a mental barrier for him, but if he doesn't resolve his issues soon he might find himself being sold since Milan can't wait around for him to come around for too long

Pippo doesn't play well as a lone striker, if Carlo decides to play that damn 4-4-1-1 thing again against Bayern then Gila would be the better solution for it since he knows how to move into spaces and take away more defenders with his movement then Pippo, also Oli might be a better solution the Pippo in that formation but I don't think Carlo has enough trust in him to field him as a lone striker against Bayern.

I personally would play the 4-3-1-2 with Pippo and Oli but something tells me it will be the 4-4-1-1 with just Gila and Kaka behind him.

Where exactly did I say Pippo should start alone ?! I'm not the coach, that is for him to decide. But, what I meant was Pippo should start the game with oli (obviously) alongside him, then introduce Gila later on in the game.

I doubt Carlo trusts Gila more than Pippo, especially in a CL match that is crucial for the club and for his own status in Milan. Unfair to Gila, but reality bites ... I hope Gila scores against Bayern too, we need him to find that form of his, but not at the expense of us sitting and waiting for him to actually shoot it into the net. Carlo will play the best striker he has against Bayern and who else but Inzaghi (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/devilsmiley.gif) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/devilsmiley.gif) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/devilsmiley.gif) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/devilsmiley.gif)
