i know this is random and off topic but i needed i a lil tickle during these hard times. but if guys know who George Gillett is, he owns the montreal canadiens (hockey team) and he owns other sporting teams and he wants to takeover liverpool. i thought that was pretty cool. cuz my two worlds; that is my world of hockey and football never mingle.

Are you kidding? Is that even a real question? What's causing the problems? The 40 year old Costacurta, 38 year old Maldini, 36 year old Cafu, 35 year old Serginho, the always unfit Ambro ( I don't even count him as a Milan player anymore...) Horrible horrible management and their horendous transfer marketing... Not enought depth on the bench... Worn out players with no rest and desire... Weak attack... Having Boriello as our fourth striker. Buying an unfit player as Sheva's replacement.... Losing Stam... Not having enough youth and flare... I mean how many times do we have to repeat ourselves?

Solutions? Transfer some great players ASAP and we'll see what we can do from there until next season...

Great post, but you forgot one thing, the departure of rui costa, the man that lead milan to win the champions league in the 02/03 season.

Maybe, after this match thinking about hockey seems to be relaxing, for the first time in my life I really consider doing that (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

ur right. i think we underrated rui costa. true he was never the player he was for fiorentina. but he was still a great player for us. and world class SUB, sumthing we lack right now, actually it's sumthing we lack on our starting 11 now.

There definately is a problem ..

Were could I start and where should I end ?!

The problem we have is not with age .. Come on, how is the age affecting our play? The problem is with the lack of depth that we have. We have a top team :

-------Dida

---Nesta--Kaladze

-Cafu-----------Janku

--------Pirlo (Im unsure anymore, after this season.. Id show him the bench)

---Gattuso---Gourcuff

----------Kaka

---Oliviera----Gilardino/Inzaghi

The team on paper looks competitive, and it is competitive .. But the problem is, we have no subs !

The way I see it, is we are in despirate need of fullbacks .. Someone to challenge Pirlo for his starting place !! Kaka needs a sub .. a striker?! I'm still not sure, though our strikers are going through a goal drought.

so 2-3 players would be enough to refresh this squad and put it back to contention.

always the transfer market is the soultion isn't it!!!
heres a question for you lot how come we have possibly the best youth and devolpment set-up in europe but hardly ever produce young players that make the prima squadra? aren't these things we should be looking at as well. I KNOW about the ageing players and lack of transfers i'm not stupid i was asking you to look deeper than lets throw millions of €'s at the problem.
if we have youth devolpment programs why aret they producing anything?
surely something is wrong there i know this won't solve are current problems but what i'm saying is the surely the club isn't short-sighted enough to see that the old players were degenerating and should make the effort to produce atleast 1-2 home grown players to fit into the milan system and replace our older great players!!

I just imagined something and it was so bitter... Just imagine us finishing 16th or 18th... Oh my... I mean this, I think if this happened... My heart somehow would stop working... And to know all this could be avoided if we acted smarter during the transfer market.......

ya the canadiens have been doing good lately( considering their recent standards which arent as high as they sused to be). and for the first time in 15 years the habs are doign better then milan which to be is crazy. normally im pissed off about the habs doing bad and milan with the their usual excellence. anyways maybe this is karma, we've been so good for the past few years maybe we gotta suck a lil to even things out.

Man.. U need to refresh ur insight on things !

Milan would NEVER on GODs green earth bring in a primavera to the first eleven ! That is impossible ! Unless the player is exceptional !

Do u know of any exceptional players ?!

Now u may ask how Billy and Paolo got here ? Simple, that was b4 Silvio's Milan.

So you ask a question to which you already know the answer? Is that some sort of trick to make you look smarter than others?

I really could care less about how many our youth players make it to our squad... We are not Ajax... There will always be a couple players that will make it and that will be enough. My solution is not throwing millions at famous players... We could spend less and still buy great players with great potential. Like Gourcuff. There are so many young and promising players out there that would make great subs! Players who don't necessarily cost that much right now...

Let's put it this way: we are doing absoultely crap, it doesn't matter if we hit too many posts or the referees are against us, we are having a horrible period. Solutions? Plenty of them. First of all we should sign AT LEAST 3 quality players in January. A RB is needed, also a heavy forward (at least get Di Natale, he's cheap) and a holding midfielder. With these sigings and the Christmas pause I think we should be ready for the second half of the season. Now, if we don't manage to qualify for the next Champions League, which would be catastrophic, I think heads should roll. The first of all has to be Carlo. I know we keep saying he isn't guilty cause the board didn't provide him a quality bench, but every manager has to keep his responsability. If we don't gain the 3rd or 4th place in May, I think he should resign by himself and not the board to fire him. That way at least he will accept the part of his mistakes. Now, Champions or not, we should REBUILD the team next summer. Simic, Bonera, Costacurta, Cafu, Seedorf and Borriello should all leave, and get YOUNG and QUALITY replacement. Stop it with these cheap and old players, we've had enough. These should be the steps to get out of the crisis in my opinion. For this season let's all rest in peace. We can't win anything, I'm sorry to say it. Let's just hope we gain at least the 4th place.
