@I_Ross: Well he is like dst says a 'holdive' mid. He's not a ball winner per se which is what a DM does. That's Rino's job(even though Rino is supposed to fit in as RM in the pyramid formation). He plays as deep-lying playmaker.
That's probably a subset of your classic box-to-box MF. And yeah he does seem to play in the same position as the DM in the 4-1-2-1-2. But it's his function, not his position that we are talking about. |

But in my original post I stated that he needs to play further forward so he can lose his defensive responsibillities, then he can express himself fully. |
