Arsenal Ready To Sell Adebayor - Galliani

Milan’s Adriano Galliani has reportedly declared that Arsenal have contacted him to discuss selling striker Emmanuel Adebayor to the Italian giants.
Adebayor’s future has been the subject of much debate all summer with the striker flirting with both AC Milan and Barcelona whilst also refusing to rule out staying at the Emirates.

However, it now appears the end may be in sight as Milan and Arsenal look set to sit down and potentially thrash out a deal which will see the Togolese swap London for Milan.

Speaking to Antenna 3 television station, Galliani has been reported as saying: "Arsenal wrote us a letter today in which they have said that they are ready to talk to us about Adebayor.”

The Price Is Right?

AC Milan had previously been reported as saying that Arsenal’s asking price for Adebayor was too high, a factor which looked to have ruled them out of the race for the front man.

Yet, whilst this may still be factor, it appears to be the only one preventing the deal taking place, which Galliani himself acknowledged. The Milan chief said: "There is just one major problem left to overcome - the price of the player, which is going to be high."

While the price still needs to be negotiated, it appears the player has already expressed his desire to move to Milan which appears to have set the ball rolling. Speaking of the striker’s wishes, Galliani confessed: "He's said that we're the club he wants to play for. That is surely a step towards the right direction."

Adebayor scored 24 league goals for the Gunners last season and manager Arsene Wenger will be reluctant to let the striker leave. However, the Gunners boss has already admitted earlier this week that his club may need to sell the player to help finance their stadium and should AC Milan get close to the Gunners asking price he may have no option but to sanction the sale.

Serie A - Ron or Ade, not both - Galliani
Eurosport - Wed, 09 Jul 12:13:00 2008

Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani insists the Italians will sign only one of Emmanuel Adebayor and Ronaldinho - which could spell good news for Manchester City.

More StoriesTransfer Talk: Jack Lampard
The pair have been linked with switches to the San Siro this summer, with Galliani claiming Arsenal have sent him a letter saying they are willing to discuss a deal for Adebayor but remaining tight-lipped regarding Barcelona's Ronaldinho.

However, the 64-year-old insists any deal for one would end interest in the other, with the possibility of two big-name new signings having a negative effect on the Rossoneri - and Adebayor, who scored 30 goals in 48 games for Arsenal last season, appears to be Galliani's first choice.

If Milan do turn to the Togo striker, it would therefore leave City as the only bidders for Ronaldinho.

"Let's be clear about this: Adebayor is the alternative to Ronaldinho and vice-versa," Galliani said in a statement on the club's official site.

"We consider Kaka and (Alexandre) Pato first-team players. Having two players of the calibre of Adebayor and Ronaldinho would create a lot of problems in the dressing room."

On Adebayor, who the Gunners value at around £36million, he added: "If Adebayor decides to leave Arsenal, we are certainly interested.

"The English club have told us they are available to be contacted to negotiate for the player. This is a step forward, but the road is still long."

Ron or Ade, not both..

For me it's simple: Ronaldinho.

But I'd be satisfied with either. whatever you do, Baldy, just DON'T bring Sheva back (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

.... I really dont get this at all I mean for example look at Inter. They have Ibra. Suazo. Crespo. Cruz. Mario Balotelli. and they make it work. Other teams have the same, if not more quallity forwards. We would have R10, Ade, Pato, Pippo, Kaka', and Borrielo. 3 out of those 6 players can also play behind the front men if need be. I understand that there is alot of "big heads" there but 50% of footballers have "big heads"

I'd take Palyvchenko over Ade and day of the week, and hour of the day and any minute of the hour!

I hadn't seen him play before the Euros and I must say he impressed me a lot, especially against Holland. like dst said, he could be an alternatove to Ade. he's young, and of course, he's got a nostalgic name (IMG:http://s2.supload.com/thumbs/default/pk22-20071027073640.gif)

Ha. Goal's getting slow. Mediaset had the Pavlyuchenko rumor Monday. I wouldn't be against it if we did get Ronaldinho.

Agreed, he is cheaper, and that way we could get R10 as well cuz we wont be paying for a extremely over payed forward. And he kinda sounds like Shevchenko

Galliani made a mention of him if we don't get Adebayor..However, i try not to think to hard how it'll be like if we didn't get ronaldinho or how it would be like if we did..or just thinking bout the formation..All this we need is to make AC Milan stronger again..The conflict or problem Galliani said would cause milan if we bought ronaldinho and Adebayor is not concrete at all..Inter has all the names..even chelsea and barca and they made it work..So i don't understand what this guy's trying to say

^^ Clearly they DIDN'T make it work last year at Barca. There were almost constant reports of tension/arguments between Rijkaard and players, among players, etc etc etc. I'd also argue that Chelsea's dressing room hasn't been particularly stable over the last couple of years, due in large part to Shevchenko's arrival and the feeling that he's the owner's pet and then due to the reportedly large number of players upset over Mourinho departing.

That said, Milan do have a history of very-little-to-no (public) drama in the dressing room. I can understand concern at upsetting the equilibrium in the dressing room if both Ronaldinho and Adebayor came in. Then again, it may be more Galliani doublespeak. Well they're from countries that were part of the Soviet Union so they will have similar names (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

As for wou will come in, I for one believe that Galliani is finally being straight with everyone, only one player will arive, there won't be R10 and a striker. It will be an either or situation and from those 2 players R10 would be my first choice hands down.

It's simple Adebayor, is not good enough and is clearly not worth the money Arsenal are demanding for him and the salary he would request.
