Yep, I was against him when he first joined but this season I have had faith in him for some reason even after the bad start, but he's coming good now (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Maybe a bit more faith from other people in things such as Milan winning things this season, will make things come good too (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Gila channels his anger

Alberto Gilardino says he used the anger and frustration of his goal drought to push him on and it could even help his campaign.

“I’d be a liar if I said I was relaxed and calm when the goals aren’t coming,” confessed the Milan striker.

“Hitting the back of the net is very important for a forward, let alone for someone who is accustomed to scoring regularly. Yet the anger and frustration I felt during this period pushed me to always do better.”

Gilardino finally broke through the barrier that had even seen him dropped for Italy’s recent Euro 2004 qualifiers, scoring in Milan’s 4-3 derby defeat to Inter and netting his first ever Champions League goal in a 4-1 mauling of Anderlecht.

“In Italy people are too quick to judge, both positively and negatively. There isn’t the right balance, so players are put on a pedestal and knocked down almost immediately.

“A mature sportsman has to accept criticism and look ahead. It’s crucial not to let them get to you or lose sleep over it. I’ve always worked hard in this period with the confidence that it’d sort itself out eventually.”

The former Parma man certainly isn’t the only Milan forward in the dock, as Pippo Inzaghi and Ricardo Oliveira haven’t scored in Serie A since Week 1.

This drought prompted inevitable complaints about the £30m sale of Andriy Shevchenko to Chelsea.

“It’s only normal that when the team isn’t scoring a few people looked back to someone who was no longer there,” added Gila.

“This is a forward line of great quality and we can do very well. Shevchenko’s shadow doesn’t loom over me and I don’t think it’s fair to compare us. I have been here for just two years, while he gave a great deal to this club over seven seasons. I hope it’s what I’ll be able to do and I try every day to make sure he’s not missed.”

The Rossoneri are 14 points adrift of leaders Inter, partly thanks to the eight-point Calciopoli penalty, but the midweek victory over Anderlecht all but secured their passage to the next round of the Champions League.

“It’s not true that we put more effort into the European games. It’s not easy to go for the Scudetto looking at the table right now, so from Sunday we must take it one match at a time without paying attention to our position in the standings. We have to react against Atalanta and try to recover as much lost ground as we can.”

No. He was born in 79

Nah he was born on 5-7-82 it says it on ACMilan.com and Uefa.com.

I couldn't imagine why he would be in a Milan jersey other than the prospect that he will develop into a top player.

Gilardino was born in 82 but we were talking about Kalynychenko earlier and you thought it was about Gila

(I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place).

I was a little surprised today when peeking at the AC Milan website during my lunch break. Announcements like the one quoted below are just...odd.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT
12/8/2006
Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani clarified: ‘It is absolutely false that I paid someone to not publish a photo of Alberto Gilardino.’

So I did a quick look-through of the various Italian dailies (sports and non) online. Apparently, the photo in question (if it exists) is of Gilardino and Barbara Berlusconi at a disco. There's talk about this photographer blackmailing VIPs to keep private and/or embarrassing photos out of the press, and there's talk of legal investigations, but that's the gist of it. (see links below) I consider the sources quoted to be generally relatively reliable.

Given recent events and the rumors surrounding Barbara Berlusconi's possible financial control of the club's purse-strings, I found the articles interesting.
