Kurt, why don't you counting CL? (maybe because Gila can't score there even if his life depend on it ) . All in all his first season: 47 - 19 and that's surely no better of what Pato has at the moment. Second season 45 - 16 and this season 38 - 9. And of course stas alone are not telling the whole story and most Milan fans who watched Milan these past 3 season know it.

Europe: 28 games - 4 goals (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

QUOTE (zdrossoneri @ Apr 26 2008, 07:46 PM)
Problem is, there's no way we can compare our 2005-06 season with the last two seasons [in Serie A]. we were clearly a stronger team then and finished second in the league. all these bad results in the league started from 2006-07.
*

You can't really compare anything in football, ever. My case is that Gila is a good player, that is all. It's just annoying when people will say "he's crap" and whatever. He's finished Milans top scorer 2 times in 3 seasons, he's finished Serie As top scorer twice, he's a good player, that's all I'm saying.

I want him to leave myself, there's no question he needs to. And I agree with Jack that you can't change a system, you change a player, because no-one is bigger than the team.

@Misha. I'm really not interested in continuing this if I'm honest, but even with CL, you can't compare Pato and Gila in this way.

Good player? maybe but not at Milan. To finish Milan Top scorer in those two seasons wasn't much of a challenge and you know it. Serie A top scorer? again, not at Milan. And BTW Kaka was our top scorer last season with 18 while Gila had 16

Maybe, but you started this comparison. I don't think there is a question who's the better player (even though they are different type of players). Pato is the future of Milan, while Gila is ... well, you know.

Fiorentina expect Gila deal

Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino has confirmed that the Viola are on the brink of signing Milan marksman Alberto Gilardino.

Gila cut a forlorn figure at San Siro last term as the former Azzurri hitman saw his playing time limited by the resurgence of Pippo Inzaghi and the arrival of young gun Alexandre Pato.

The talented striker has never quite settled since arriving from Parma in 2005 and is determined to escape the Rossoneri camp to avoid another season warming the bench.

And it seems that a deal with Fiorentina is imminent after Corvino revealed that talks are progressing well.

“There are just a few details to be sorted out, but it is practically done,”
he told Italia 7 Gold.

“The player has made an important effort to compromise with his wage demands.”

Having stolen Champions League qualification from the Diavolo, the Viola are looking to strengthen their squad this summer and are expected to welcome six or seven new recruits.

Gilardino looks set to be one of their big swoops and could be the perfect strike partner for the prolific Adrian Mutu.

Mutu and Gilardino played together at Verona and Parma at the start of the millennium and have a good mutual understanding.

Good player, but not mentally strong enough for Milan.

Wish him good luck at Fio - I'm sure he'll do well.

Grazie Gila

I always liked him and always will. But like m1ke said he couldnt handle the pressure of playing for a club like us. I wish him all the best and hope he explodes at Fiorentina, that way he can win his way back to La Nazionale

Farewell

I'm sad on a personal level - he seemed like a nice guy. But I'm not going to miss his performances.

It's better for him like this anyway - he'll probably do well at Fio.
