I think this also gives the same answer.  (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

We all know Milan are very loyal to their players. And it's cost us big time in the past. Instead of bringing in newer guys to help push the team forward, they've put faith in their existing players. Now we've got to a stage where the team is very old, and it's starting to really hurt us..
*

Milan never had much "faith" in their strikers. We've sold Simone, Gullit, Laudrup, Bierhoff, Weah, Jose Mari, bla-bla-bla without a blink (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) .

Lol, early contender for quote of the year. Though admittedly he had the support of a second striker this time around. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/innocent.gif) But I'm happy for the man! Let's hope he still gives something to Milan, when we most need him.

Ginevra? Whoever picked the name must be a Harry Potter fan.

I can just picture her being introduced as Ginny Gilardino. Milan DID want a Gigi, now they've got it. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

ON HINDSIGHT
3/21/2008 2:00:00 PM

Three years ago they wrote that Gilardino was the future of Milan, he was the best and most ruthless finisher in the penalty area. Now they ask why he should be bought. These are not two different newspapers, it is the same one.

The Gazzetta dello Sport of today takes the top award. The previous episodes are nothing when compared to those who end their accusation on Milan with: Gilardino, why buy him? Yes, why buy him? Good question, to which Milan does not pull back. Milan responds strongly and clearly, remind the same Gazzetta and all the Rossoneri fans what the main Italian daily sports newspaper was writing on July 19 2005, the day after the official announced of the arrival of Gila with the Rossoneri’s shirt. On that day Franco Arturi wrote: “Gilardino fills up the only (relative) hole in the Rossoneri’s army. This player gathers all the best qualities of the Milan attackers. A player who projects the future of the club in his 23 years of age. The economic contents of this move are quite acceptable, if the still not famous Shaun Wright-Phillips cost 31 million Euros to Chelsea, 7 more than Gilardino who seems much stronger right now.” Luigi Garlando highlights the tactical aspect: “From today, Carlo Ancelotti starts to coach Alberto Gilardino, that is the best he could hope for his attack. With Gilardino, Milan found a ruthless finisher of the penalty area; a cobra ready to bite every ball. Gilardino, who has a dense muscular structure, can hold the strength of the defenders; he can arrive to the shot after winning an aerial or acrobatic duel. Gilardino was handed the old job of the penalty area strikers, who in front of goal floated like in an aquarium. Gilardino knows the pivot art, he knows what to do with a short assist, there is no better attacker to play with his shoulders to the goal.”

Three years ago all of this was said, now why buy him? They seems two different newspapers, instead it’s the same one.

In any case, everything is clear: these, summaries from the Gazzetta of almost three years ago, are the reasons for which Alberto Gilardino was purchased.

Instead of asking provocative questions, it would have been enough to take a look at its own news in the days that the entire Italian football had seen as a great purchase.

We acknowledge that the performance of Milan in the league can lead to a lot of criticism, but this operation on Gilardino has just one purpose: talking on hindsight. Without coherence. If it’s so evident that this was a bad transfer, it would have been correct if a great newspaper had signaled it straight away. They cannot do so three years later, after that three years ago first they had praised him so much.

What a wonderful world ??!!!

He was fairly anonymous today, but did very well to set the goal up for Pato. Still, I don't think he'll be content with a place on the bench next season, which is where he'll be heading if Milan make some moves in the summer.

Hey! your posting more! I like it (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif)

I agree with you. Even though he played well today, there is no doubt his time has already been finished at milan. If nobody buys him we'll probably end up loaning him like we did with oli.

From what I saw he never set the goal up, more like Pato knocked it in even though it was already going in! I think sometimes Gila doesn't get the praise he deserves, although he always gets bashed.

And before I benched Gila I would wait to see who is in charge next season because if carlo is to stand down then I think we might see the best out of Gila and Yoann as a new manager might know how to utillise them in a better way.

He didn't intend to pass to Pato. he aimed for the goal but his shot was weak and I don't think it was going in. if Pato wasn't there the Torino defender would have cleared it off the line for sure.
