You know, stats can help someone but you must be careful not to manipulate with them. Gilardino's stats do say something, but the most important thing is what we all see,...
If we gonna tell statistical informations, let's point out the situations in which Gilardino scored crucial goals in big matches?! I bet there's enough situations the fingers of one hand. We all should support Gilardino and hope he'll do something from time to time, but the big picture tells me he is not Milan quality. It seems we use to have double criteria. When we mention Ballack, C. Ronaldo, Drogba, Eto'o, Di Natale or whoever we (me included) are on the verge to say they are not Milan quality. But the players we really can judge are the players who already play for us. It is obvious that Brocchi is not Milan quality, never will be and never will be a persona of any use for us. Not while we play, not while we rest, even not when we have vacation. No use of him. The same cannot be applied to Giladino. But I'll have to say it: I belive he is not Milan quality, maybe he was, but right now he is not. And this "right now" is a longer period with thick history and great future. He is the only Milan player (do put aside Brocchi and the others of the useless..) that tortures me while I watch. Only he makes me feel a certain pain, and it makes me tired. He makes me feel sick.
Sure, I could feel sick about Javi Moreno or Brocchi, but first of all I did not expect that much of them and second I did not have to watch them for such a long time. You know, the statistics are telling us Gilardino is positive, but this is a illusion. In a Inter team, which is sadly maybe the strongest in Italy (results) Gilardino would not have done the same, cause of the concurention. Do you thing they would stick with him, and more important do you think Gila would have a chance to show his value and score besides Crespo, Ibra, Cruz, Suazo even Adriano? He would get 20 or 15 last minutes maybe and than he would have to score the same thing he does not score in 90 of our minutes.
So I'm gonna say it once more, yes we'll have to support Gilardino, but I think he had his chances and did not impress. He is sometimes useful, but mostly useless. That's why I'll say: the Milan-quality ticket expired for Gilardino. Let's move on.
