QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Sep 5 2007, 03:31 PM) This is my last comment on the matter, it's getting old. Yes, he scored 17 goals with Sheva. In my opinion Gila is a second striker, expecting him to be a guy that's going to get 25 goals is silly, that's not him. You're expecting him to replace Sheva's goals! That's like expecting Bonera to come in and play like Nesta, it's just something that's not going to happen. He is a number 2 striker, and that's what he was bought as. I would be glad to say that I agree with you on that. But I don't. Nobody here expects Gilardino to be Sheva. But we do expect much more of him. I think he is pretty expensive for a £18m transfer. If we follow the same logic, then Pippo also was No.2 striker. At a moment Sheva too. But we expected more, and that's what we got. With Gila, I'm not sure we're gonna get that "more" part...

Nobody expecting him to be a Sheva's heir. We just want a good, reliable striker that you can count on. And when I say count, I mean not only likes of Reggina but also 'big' teams and CL. I have nothing against him personally, and I would be very glad if he can finally put his issues behind him. He has the big stage to prove that he's woth it ,and he got big credit from Carlo (that I don't think he would have get in other big teams), but he's not gonna get it for ever.

QUOTE Gilardino Not Thinking About Exit Alberto Gilardino has insisted that he will not be driven out of the club by the 'boo-boys'. Alberto Gilardino has come under much pressure once again this season after failing to find the net often enough.
There has been plenty of criticism directed at the player since the draw against Fiorentina, and though he scored during the 2-2 draw with Dinamo Kiev, the pressure continues unabated.
With Ronaldo likely to make his return very soon, and 'Pippo' Inzaghi doing far better as well, he has been linked with an exit from the club.
However, the former Parma man is keen on staying put, and calm about his future.
"Yesterday, I spoke with president Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani," he said on Friday evening.
"Both have reassured me that my future is at Milan, so I can be calm.
"I will try to always give everything on the field and hope to have a little more luck in front of goal."

QUOTE (pKillerMax @ Sep 10 2007, 02:41 AM) Determined to do whatever it takes to find the back of the net. You think slashing his way through the opposition's defence with a katana is among those things Gila could do!?? It would help him... a lot!

QUOTE (pKillerMax @ Sep 10 2007, 12:41 AM) AND determination. Remember Marco Simone? There could be a friggin bomb exploding next to him and he would still be concentrated on the job. That's determination. Determined to do whatever it takes to find the back of the net. Marco,... (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)

QUOTE Bonera: Gilardino Will Come Good Daniele Bonera followed Alberto Gilardino from Parma to the San Siro at the start of last season and has in many ways eclipsed his young mentor by retaining good form heading into the 2007-08 season. The stopper, though, insists that Gilardino is still good enough, and will return to his very best... Daniele Bonera has leapt to the defence of embattled teammate, striker Alberto Gilardino.
The AC hitman has come in for criticism after an array of poor showings that have even seen him fall out of Azzurri contention.
For defender Bonera, though, this is a minor setback.
"Alberto was excellent against [Dynamo] Kiev," he said, looking back to AC Milan's recent friendly win in Ukraine.
"He just needs to keep going down that path.
"So many people focus on his lack of goals, but he was excellent against Fiorentina, and needs credit for his unselfish teamwork."
Gilardino remains among the first-choice strikers at the San Siro; with Ronaldo injured and Pato ineligible, scope for coach Carlo Ancelotti to ring the changes is limited.
Bonera, though, thinks that the coach can still get the best out of his player.
"Ancelotti knows how to deal with this situation; last year, he did a great job of squad rotation and he knows how to handle his squad," concluded Daniele.
Bonera arrived at the San Siro from Parma in 2006 and, after a slow start, has established himself as a regular in the rossoneri lineup. The 26 year old is an Italian international.
So, too, is Gilardino. However, he was left out of the last squad, the 25 year old hitman failing to add to his 23 cap tally. He, too, joined Milan from Parma, back in 2005.
