ya i'm one of those that still believes he can perform if he gets a good partner. but what i dont get is that when he was at parma he was played up front alone and we all know how well he did...
*

At Parma there was no real pressure, he and his team were expected to be around mid-table every year. Now you're asking this same kid to carry a club the size of Milan single handedly, in terms of goals.

I agree with Han. He needs a partner, he's still very young. You can not expect a 25-year old kid to carry a whole team, it's just not fair.

oH , yes he must carry 25 Milion ton of Euro (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Galliani beatiful words :

On Gilardino:

"The fans were quite harsh on Alberto, they are spoiled because they support the number one club in the world, so even when someone fails to control the ball well they would react like that... but I've heard that also happens to the tenors at the Parma theatre," and smiles.

Yes, maybe at Parma there was no pressure to handle and here he can't be the prime source of goals, but, in a hursh way, that also means that he is not good enough for us. I think Gila is a bad first-team player for important matches, and an even worser bench player. He is no real "Joker",..

cough Kaka cough. 25 is usually the best years of a striker. In football terms 25 is surely not a kid. What is Pato then?

Nobody expects him to carry a team. Playing a good football and will be enough for now.

I know what you're trying to say. But I keep saying that his scoring record is very good. Better than Weah in his first two years, better than Pippo in his first two years. But they both had striker partenrs, Gila just doesn't, which is making him look bad.

We all know Kaka's the exception that proves thw rule, he's just something else. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

Weah was a proven striker in europe that use to score in big games too. The guy won the best european and best world striker awards. Gila scored just two goals in two seasons in the CL (both of them unimportant of course). Any comparison between him and Gila is just wrong.

If you want to compare players, do it when they are were in the same age. At 25 in Juve (a big club almost the same as Milan (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) ) Pippo was considered one of the most lethal strikres in the world scoring many goals both in serie a and CL. When he moved to Milan he was unlucky and had several big injuries. He didn't played half season in his first year in Milan so this statistic is useless considering how many games he played in these first two seasons. But when he was fully fit he was lethal (just remember the 2002-03 CL campaign. 12 goals in 16 games (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif) ). The guy is the best Italian goalscorer in the european competitions ever and you can alway count on him when you have an important game (even at 34 (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif) ).

The point is: at Gila's age these guys were at peak. Nobody questioned them and they were scoring as much on the biggest stage - the CL, while Gila's pants is wet the minute he's hearing the words 'Champions League'. Any comparison between them and him is offensive for them.

We just keep making excuses for him. Midfield that we have is a dream for any striker. Milan can't afford to have someone just for the situations when we play with two strikers (and even then he may fail), especially when he's the one who was supposed to be our main striker. If he only can play with a partner then it's a disabillity. Sure he scored 17 goals in the league but it was mainly because of Sheva. Since Sheva left he just can't handle mentally with the 'to be the main striker' pressure and we can all see the results on the field. Plus you can't count on him at in the CL. Again, a team like Milan can't afford all this.

Kakas the exception? IMO Gila is the exception...there are tons of strikers being at the top of their game before they were 25. Del Pierro, Rául, Vieri, Ronaldo just to name some very popular ones...

OOooh stop it please. Now, don't get me wrong, a good partner is really something that can mean much (like Cole-Yorke). But still,...This is rediculous! Why would we search for a partner that suits Gila? Should I start now worry cause Gila does not have a partner? Naah,..

Year one, I told my self, shame on me, I'd expected too much. Year two I said, ahh shame on Sheva, he left Gila under real pressure. But from now on, IMO, Gila should be the ashamed one. If this season don't works, then I must say - it does not look him bad, he is bad. And I don't give much attention to the statistics. I give advantage to my eyes. I watch this guy on and on playing, but never, not once I the whole last season in an impertant match I said to myself thank God Gila is here. I said it for Dida, Nesta, Maldini, Rino, Ambro, Kaka, Pippo, Seedorf, Janku, even Oddo. But not once for Gilardino. And that's what counts most.

Sure, Alberto Gilardino is not a striker like Luca Saudati. He much above that level. Sure, in some segments he is very good, maybe even brilliant. But, don't miss the big picture - and the big picture.

Let's look at this stats:

Weah (1995-1997) 25 goals in 54 apps.
Inzaghi (2001-2003) 36 goals in 68 apps.
Gilardino (2005-2007) 29 goals in 64 apps.

Well, that's not better then George or Pippo.

Poor poor Gila. I really like him. He's been cr@p, but he's such a nice guy. And he's got such a pretty girlfriend.

I wish Porty would sign a petition saying, Gila we have complete faith in you, but if you don't shape up, you'll be shipped out.

Maybe I should change my sig to something more polite.

This is my last comment on the matter, it's getting old.

Yes, he scored 17 goals with Sheva. In my opinion Gila is a second striker, expecting him to be a guy that's going to get 25 goals is silly, that's not him. You're expecting him to replace Sheva's goals! That's like expecting Bonera to come in and play like Nesta, it's just something that's not going to happen. He is a number 2 striker, and that's what he was bought as.
