I'd just ban teams that do wrong.

Villa have missed out on the CL before because of other teams fans acting like jackassess. I don't see why we should be punished once again for doing nothing wrong.

I wouldn't mind if we did have a bad history of violence, but I don't recall Villa ever causing trouble away from England.

My ratings are as follows. Sorry if they're a bit long! I'm so excited about the victory that I'm having the day off and could type all day!

Dida 7- Good saves from Pennant in the first half and Gerrard in the second. Came out and made all his catches/punches well. Couldn't be blamed for the goal.

Oddo 6.5- Generally contained Zenden/Kewell and Liverpool didn't pose much of a threat from his flank. Made some nice overlaps including one which contributed to the second goal but didn't have a lot to do offensively.

Nesta 7- Solid display with no major faults. Made a great block from Kuyt's shot in the first half. Always in the right position.

Maldini 6.5- Lost possession in dangerous areas once or twice, but always a calming influence at the back and his partnership with Nesta is key. Good positional sense.

Jankulski 5.5- Had problems with Pennant in the first half especially. A poor first touch from a team mate's pass resulted in Pennant's chance around the 20 minute mark. Wanted to push forwad but was having problems containing Pennant. Most of Liverpool's best build up came from his flank.

Gattuso 6- Won lots of ball in midfield as usual but lost possession in a bad area which should have resulted in Gerrard scoring. Played responsibly after getting booked.

Pirlo 6.5- Calm on the ball and nice passing as always. Important outlet when coming out of defence. Wasn't owned by Mascherano or Alonso as some predicted he would. Who knows if his free kick was going in before Pippo deflected it? Delivery from some set pieces not at his usual excellent standard. Played his part in the overall performance.

Ambrosini 7- Neat in possession and worked hard to close space and get to the contest when we didn't have the ball. Does a lot of 1% efforts which generally go unnoticed like covering in centre defence when Maldini got drawn into the midfield and was temporarily out of position. Had a part in the build up to the second goal.

Seedorf 6- Didn't provide as much support to Kaka and Inzaghi as he has previously, which meant that they were slightly isolated. Had a part in the second goal, receiving the ball from Pirlo and holding off two defenders well to feed the ball across the field.

Kaka 7- Hard work for Kaka today. Was working on his own up front against multiple defenders for periods but had more space when Mascherano was taken off. Didn't have much of a sight of goal this time but was incorrectly called offside in the second half when he was through on goal. As almost always with Kaka, there was a final product to his efforts with him winning the free kick which led to the first goal and making an excellent assist for Pippo's second. How good was his spin to get past Riise in the first half?

Inzaghi 8- Pippo Inaghi, segna per noi! And he did, twice! First one was a bit lucky but the second one was a classic. His performance wasn't just about goals though as he worked very hard all over the field. Made small contributions like blocking a cross in the last 5 minutes and winning corners and throws. Huge effort....my man of the match.

Subs 7- They each made small contributions in their own way when they came on.

Ancelotti 7- His best decision was made before kick-off, with his choice to start Inzaghi paying off in a big way. Read the game pretty well. Liverpool largely cancelled out our attacking play but weren't creating a huge amount of clear chances either. Got his moves right in the second half, although Liverpool were chasing the gme by then.
