So you are all stunned? But why? Haven't we all agreed that last summer we made almost every possible wrong decision? Did we not complain about squad depth and squad quality?
And reading that Maldini was ready to sack Pioli and hire Pirlo of all people is also a big minus.
Players will settle in fast, especially if the management keep Ibra in the team with some role. Giving Pioli more say in transfers and signings also makes sense.
But the way Cardinale treated Maldini is still irking and shows how little the Americans understand football culture and ways of a big club.
1 bad summer which was mired in BS created by the ownership should not be the barometer imo. Cardinale rubbed me the wrong way from day 1.
I said it then and I say it now. We got f@cked over in another takeover thanks to greedy ownership. Elliot ditched Investcorp because RedBird let them keep a small share and a board member. Just like Silvio chose Yong Hong f@cking Lee, a guy who is literally a ghost in China because he offered the most cash.
I wanted to take a few days before coming here an spamming you all with long winded posts because I thought me head was about to explode when news first started filtering in.
It is clear that the issue was about budget. Paolo has been vocal multiple times in the media about needing to take a step in quality. That can only happen if your budget is better than that of a mid-table side.
Yes, last summer was a failure, but that failure was first and foremost down to the ownership, not to Maldini and Massara. Our summer was literally ruined by the contract negotiations for them which they only signed at the 11th hour. American ownerships have no clue about how football teams are run. They think it's like their idiotic franchises in the NBA/NFL/MLB (sry for those who are fans) where you actually get rewarded for failure with not potential consequences of relegation. In football you have to spend if you want to be successful. Especially if you invested in a tam outside the EPL where TV money is sh!t.
Anyway, sorry for still making a long post. Just still so mad. At least we did not lose Moncada as well and it looks like they're going to give him a bigger role, which is something that at least gives me hope as the guy has a seriously good eye for talent.
