Why is Milan called (in other languages besides italian/english) "AC (Milano*)"

*Name of the city - Milano - but in the language we're talking.

For example, in Portugal I would say 75% of the newspapers call AC Milan, but the others call "AC Milão" (Milão = Milano in portuguese).

In German, once I saw in DSF, AC Mailand or something like this... I must say I hate this.

It's MILAN! If it wasn't the club should be called AC Milano by the italians...

In bwin.com , our sponsor... on the portuguese version there's always "AC Milão" ...

I've sent an email, but I think nothing will change... what a stupidity. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Totally right the founders of the club where English that's why they decided to keep Milan's name Milan and not Milano to honour the founders of the club who where british

That's why there is the English flag in our badge

Herbert Kilpin was the founder of the Milan football and cricket club in 1899. He was born in Birmingham.
A lot of foreign teams were formed by British ex pats.

I guess it's quite normal that people refer to a club in their native language. If the city of Milano is called Mailand in Germany, well it's called like that. I don't like it too, I think Milan sounds much better AND it is the clubs name.
But you can't blame anyone for calling the club AC Milao or AC Mailand or whatever. I've also never heard anyone calling Bayern Muenchen Bayern Muenchen, it's Bayern Munich or whatever, so we're not the only ones having this kinda problem (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

In Italy Inter is know as Internazionale or simple as Inter. Never Inter Milano. Just on the other countries is adapted: here in Portugal, for example, is "Inter de Milão"... in English media is "Inter Milan", etc etc etc.

But the official club name is Internazionale Football Club (registered in Lega-Calcio, italian league).

Yes but Inter is also known as Inter Milan because we where once one team known as Milan FC, but some of the people involved in the club wanted to sign more foreign players, so they split and founded their own club, Internazionale Milano.

You know how the saying goes "nothing is as good as the original" well it really applies in this issue (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
