I know a couple of people who are season ticket holders (lucky barstids). One of them has commented that yesterday, Ambrosini was the only real man out on the pitch for Milan.
Ambro's not my favourite player but my Milanese friend and whoarethepatriots have a good point.

QUOTE (whoarethepatriots @ Mar 31 2008, 05:29 PM) The only players to come out with any sort of credibility from the Atalanta match were Kalac and Ambrosini (perhaps Maldini too) Long after everyone had given up, Ambrosini was there pushing the team on, giving his all when players like Pirlo and Gattuso could not be bothered A captain should not need motivation to play well against Atalanta or any other team, he should play his heart of for his team always, even if his legs fail him. I have already voted for Ambrosini, but you all should realise he is the best captain material, he is not our most gifted player technically or physically, but that is not the point Lead by example is what he does, and will always do (IMG: http://media2.acmilan.com/200712/9040_big.jpg) That's what I've said earlier on. I agree 100%. Remember (IMG: http://soccernet-akamai.espn.go.com/design05/images/sw/Massimo-Ambrosini_larsbaron.jpg) I'll never foget that one. I voted for Nesta, but it's Ambrosini who should get the armband.

QUOTE (whoarethepatriots @ Mar 31 2008, 11:10 PM) Being a captain is not about regularly starting, its about being inspirational to other, motivating them when things are down. Its unbelieveable how many times Ambrosini has saved us on the bring of defeat; PSV in 2005, Sampdoria and Atalanta in 2007, Empoli a month ago etc well it's hard to motivate from the bench, i mean the most important motivation is done during the game on the pitch. i dont deny his leadership off the field but for all we know fiori is the most important leader... but ti would pretty pointless to make him captain considering how much he plays (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) i wouldnt say it's unbelievable how many times he's saved us cuz i can count the occasions off the top of my head. you can say the same about players too (including kaka) he dragged us to the final in athens last year.

Nesta?? Uhm..realistically..it's been a two horse race for as far as I can remember.
Kaka is still seen as a bright young kid in the dressing room. He's not at the level Sheva was, when awarded the band. (I don't mean skillwise, I mean his place in the dressing room).
Besides I'm not too keen on the best player being the captain thing. Don't think it makes a difference.
But like 10ie said, it will be a seniority thing. Ambro, Rino and so on.
