Whilst I'm sure Maldini has got a few seasons left in him, who would you like to see as the next captain of Milan?

I voted for Gattuso because I think he'd be able to motivate the players on the pitch through his persistence and determination.

No one would ever replace IL CAPITANO...but I Share M1ke opinion that Gattuso is the biggest motivator in the team !

I'm a bit torn between Nesta and Gattuso, but I'm going to say Nesta because the last time Rino was wearing the armband, he managed to get himself sent off!

Gattuso all the way, he such a terrier just the sort of person Milan need to hype the team and raise thier moral, he would be an exellent captain.

I'm sure Gattuso will become Milan's captain. Ok he hasn't got the technical ability like some other Milan's players, but he surely is the biggest character and motivator. He would be a captain similar to Manchester United's Roy Keane.

i'm still not sure who i want to be Milan next captain... coz i grew up admiring IL Capitano.. and somehow, everyone is not up to that standard that he possesed.

i like ambrosini when he;s wearing the armband [PSV] and he certainly less tempered compare to GAttuso [just dont like hot-headed person] but, he's not Ancelotti's first-eleven.

Well , perhaps lot's of you will dissagree , but to me the next Milan captain should be Italian ... as much as sheva did for Milan , he represents Ukraine . A player that represents both Milan and the Italian national team is just something else ... But that's my humble opinion

Rino plays not good, he can be replace easily in our first-eleven. Maybe in this season, he'll lose his position to Max. Don't you remember the match between Milan and PSV? Rino was not chosen as our captain.

My vote is for Pirlo, Gattuso is a great players that stays in Milan for many years, but a captain needs to stay calm in the worst moments, and Gattuso is very nervous.

Pirlo is calm and clear, his problem is that needs to put the team into his shoulder.

Ambrosini is not a regular first team football, so he can be the second or third captain.

Shevchenko is not a italian player, but it's a possibility too...

Pirlo or Gattuso in my opinion, but I prefer Pirlo.

I personally think people are voting for shev beacuse he is like the face of milan, when you say AC Milan you hear shev, you can ask anyone to name a player from AC Milan they will9 times out of 10 say Shev, its not a bad thing, people love him, he is an amazing player which is why I think people are voting for him, but I am still sticking with Gattuso, the team need someone with some flare, a little attitude and a real go get approach, and he has all that and more!

i go for alessandro nesta because he was captain in lazio roma and also italian national team before and he s really a perfect defender and one of the best players in europe . i really like and appreciate his way in football .

I wish Maldini another 5 good years as our captain. If he decides to take it easy, I would like to see one of the followings to be our next captain. The first one on my list is Ambrosini, then Nesta, Sheva, Kaka.

I voted Sheva the perfect choice IMO keeps his cool at all times, always acts like the true proffessional that he is, leads from the front and is a true Milanista as well!

I think there is an unwritten rule in Italian football that the captaincy automatically goes to the longest serving player and I think they also prefer Italians as captains so that is why Rino or Ambro are captains.

Why do defenders seem to automatically get the nod for captaincy these days?

it will most likely go to nesta, i would like to see it go to sheva. he has been with milan since 1999 and will be for years to come. he has a contract until 2010 and who says he wont renew it.nesta might be the best choice for captain but isnt he getting ready to hang up the boots? we dont want a captain for only 2-3 years
