QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Apr 2 2011, 10:41 PM) MotD is annoying. Fair enough West Ham-United being on first.. but Arsenal 0-0 Blackburn being on 2nd? Come on! Why not watch the game you want to watch on Football First? I don't even bother with MOTD anymore.

QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Apr 2 2011, 10:49 PM) I do sometimes, but it's too time consuming. MotD lets me see all the highlights in an hour, Football First takes an hour per game. Yeah, true. I often catch the stuff on Sunday mornings to be fair.

Yeah, they are ok to watch but Holloway & Adam are mugs.
We need clarification or something to happen about this double footed tackle rule now, it's getting a bit stupid. Now, I'm not trying to wind you up or anything Kurt but Makoun made a double footed tackle yesterday, which was rightfully booked and nothing more. Yet N'Zonzi of Blackburn made one and he was sent off? If it's a lunge into the tackle kind of like Flamini did against Spurs in the CL yes it should be a red but a 2 footed tackle (if in control) should not be a sending off anymore in my mind. It should just be a booking.
Obviously the tackle would have to be down to the referee but this whole, 2 feet off the ground nonsense even when it's a relatively controlled motion and they clearly win the ball should not be an immediate sending off in my mind. I fail to see how much more dangerous it is than a slide tackle that catches you around your ankle, or a scissor motion that could cause a broken ankle or worse.

QUOTE (Locke Lamora @ Apr 3 2011, 02:08 PM) Give me that over the "Hoof it to the big lads"-tactics employed by Blackburn, Bolton and Stoke any day of the week. Blackburn play some very good stuff under Coyle. They do go long every now and then, but who wouldn't with Davies up front? He's brilliant. I never saw the Makoun one yesterday to be honest, though the first half of my stream was naff so it probably got skipped. He did a 2-footer against Blackpool and rightfully got sent off though. The issue with a 2 footed tackle is that it's potentially a career ending tackle. An awkward slide tackle or something you'd have to be incredibly unlucky with it to even get injured. I don't think they're sending players off because the tackle itself is particularly bad, in my view they're doing it because they're essentially trying to ban the 2 footed tackle from the game. But footballers aren't the smartest breed, so they'll continue to do it and get sent off, it's just so dangerous because you've no way of stopping or pulling out of it with 2 feet of the ground and if you happen to land on someones leg, it's your whole body-weight going straight at their leg.

Nah, it wasn't that nasty but it was 2-footed, so the laws of the game kind of say it's meant to be a red-card. In all honesty unless you're jumping into the 2 footed tackle, or lunging in if you know what I mean that's dangerous and that is a red card. Though if you're sliding on the ground with 2 feet, is it that really that more dangerous than a one-footed slide tackle? I mean most professional groundsman wet the pitches so the momentum is going to take you most of the time anyway, with one foot or 2. Like, if you slide straight on playing football, you know what I mean it's pretty hard to stop yourself, I don't see how it's any harder with 2 feet. A side on slide tackle is a bit different as you don't really come into contact with the player, and you'd have to be pretty dumb to try a 2 foot tackle side-on.

QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Apr 3 2011, 02:56 PM) I don't know why players do it, how does it have any advantage over going in 1 footed? (IMG: style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) I think it's poor technique more than anything, you don't see many defenders tackling like it. I guess it also takes the risk down of you getting stamped on or something if you go in with 2 feet.

QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Apr 8 2011, 05:42 AM) Rooney got a 2 game ban for swearing. I do think United got alot of decisions their way, but my God do they get punished for some retarded things! Think it goes back to the whole elbow against was it McCartney? incident. Where everyone was going on about how United & especially Rooney get special rules from the FA. If this had gone unpunished every other club and other teams fans would have been going crazy. The FA need to sort themselves out though, it makes them look foolish punishing this and not punishing the elbow.
