QUOTE (X-Offender @ Oct 5 2022, 09:50 PM) Pioli. You have no idea how much important the coach is in these competitions, but Pioli has been constantly proving himself to be a small coach in Europe. I don't care about the scudetto. Even Zaccheroni won it and he's a nobody.
It was blatantly obvious after the first 30 minutes that Krunic on the right wouldn't cut it and Giroud wasn't going to touch a ball for the rest of the match, but he did nothing to correct it. And obviously there's the mentality aspect which is by far the most important one. He just doesn't have it. I agree that Pioli is the issue here. I think he's overcome the inferiority he had in the league, but in the CL it's obvious that he's changing the way we play to accommodate the competition and that screams of someone who is unsure of himself in this setting. Even a terrible Inter can pull performances out of their @sses in this competition. And we've been miles ahead of them in the league. This is not an issue of whether Serie A is competitive, because it is. Napoli have been immense this season and we over-powered them in that game a few weeks ago and should have won it had it not been for some real sh!tty finishing. This is all about the coach, the inexperience of our players in this competition and the very obvious issue of having a squad that has a really good first 11 but once you go beyond that, it's a big dip. We missed Kessie in the midfield tonight. First time I'm saying this, but Tonali and Benna looked tired and slow today, which is not something that I'd attribute to them, but once again, letting Kessie leave and not replacing him is costing us. We're over using the only 2 players we have there and we miss his physicality is these specific games as well.

With Pioli we'll never go far in this competition, simple as.

QUOTE (han2503 @ Oct 6 2022, 12:22 AM) Nah man, this performance is on us
Just not there today, played a completely different game than we usually do. Timid, slow, ponderous.
It does not help that it feels like we're handicapped with these injuries and we have reserves that are just not good enough Aside from the stat that Milan won only one game on English soil in 20+ professional games, Chelsea's bench seemed better than half of Milan's outfield players. The injury crisis plays a role here. Timid, slow and ponderous, I agree with you. But this is the team that's fielded. A decimated one. We can go round and round playing the blame game, but truth be told, three years ago none of us would have forseen Milan being in the CL. Baby steps, and Milan could progress. How far? Not that far han, maybe just past the group stages. Then restart next season and improve on that etc etc.
