Now we've lost Tomori on top of a shambolic display against the worst side in the league
These injuries are just not acceptable. No top side have suffered more muscle injuries than us. Something is NOT right with how these players are being managed. How have the management not addressed this and cleaned house? Just incomprehensible at this point that we have ownership that claim to be business minded and ruthless when it comes to making decisions yet we're letting Pioli and his staff fester around for the entirety of this season.
This game had points dropped written all over it. We just cannot maintain consistency. The performances yoyo too much. The coaching decisions are shambolic. Jovic and Chuk have been making the difference as of late, yet they keep riding the bench.
Rafa has been shambolic since his return from injury. Giroud is a ghost, RLC same. Why not just give Rafa a rest here and bring him on later it is obvious that he is not moving fluidly, he has not been able to beat his man once since coming back from injury. RLC has been bad as well. I don't know about the groin issue x-off mentioned, but if he's not fit to start than just let adli play, we have Bennacer back as well, let him heal properly FFS, it's just making the situation worse.
For me aside from Pioli needing to be gone like 6 months ago. The true worry is 3-fold:
Theo, Maignan and Leao
These are our star players, not just that, they are players why are top in their positions in the world not just in Serie A. Yet all have been atrocious this season.
Mike has been flapping about and making regular mistakes. Sure he comes up with ridiculous saves but he can't also be doing basic errors. He used to be perfect, this season he just isn't.
Theo... Where do I start? Careless in both phases of the game, wasteful, terrible defensively. More worried about rolling about than playing to the whistle. How many times have we been punished because he's faking an injury while we're getting countered on? How many easy opportunities has he wasted?
And lastly Leao. He's not been at his level all season, but it's been even worse since he's come back from that hamstring pull. Either he's still not completely lucid yet and confident in his sprinting and that he won't pull up again or he's just simply unhappy with how things are going.
I think the drop in form can be attributed to many things for these players, but changing coaches will do a lot of good. It is obvious to me that a player like Theo is no longer playing for this coach. The contrast between now and the season we won the Scudetto and those prior is night and day. Something happened last season when we went into that freefall between him and Pioli imo and Theo's attitude changed with it.

Jimenez looks like the real deal. Why aren't we giving him more time and playing Florenzi out of position??

This season cannot be over fast enough
The sheer disjointedness of the team hurts my slightly OCD brain. We have no definable shape.
Started well, but as usual, it went down the drain the moment they put a slight but of pressure one us
The Jimenez mistake is something to be expected from such a young player, the overall play is what's really bad.
That's 3 competitions we're already out of and it's barely the turn of the new year. And this was actually a decent opportunity this year with Inter out. Leave it to us and out mastermind to f@ck it up
Pioli should resign if he had any decency.

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Jan 11 2024, 07:52 AM) And give up on all his wages? Nah, he should be sacked is what it is. But that's not gonna happen and we'll finish the season with him. We'll comfortably get 3rd place cos there's no competition and we'll get a new coach in June. I think that's already been decided.
Btw, Leao is probably having his worst season since he's been with us. Goal aside, what a horseshit performance. The moment he tried to dribble the Atalanta defender and comically tripped on his feet is the epitome of his season. I really don't know what's wrong with him. Every time he tries to take on his man, he's failing, when in the past he'd be successful 8 out of the 10 times he does it. He's just not had that zing about him ever since he got that injury. And this is not to excuse him, but he's very obviously just not moving as he usually would. That being said, he's even getting the simple things wrong atm. His touch, the passing, all so comically non-committal from him, and I get that that's the general vibe he gives out, but if you're not at 100% at least be fully focused enough to get the simple things right! His pass to Theo today was beautiful though. But we need so much more from him. Thankfully we have other capable attackers this season to take on some of the burden. Can you imagine him going through this kind of slide with Alexis and Messias on the other side?? Great win today it wasn't a pretty watch at all during that 2nd half especially but by hook or by crook we got the job done against one of our biggest bogey teams. Onwards and upwards.

Great win today it wasn't a pretty watch at all during that 2nd half especially but by hook or by crook we got the job done against one of our biggest bogey teams. Onwards and upwards. Leao has never had that aggressive charisma on the pitch. He's always looked unbothered and nonchalant, and it's something I've never liked about him. But at least he got a few things right that managed to bring us goals and points. In the past 2 months though he's not been there anymore. As you said, he's not even getting the simple things right. I was very observant of his movements, especially in the first half, and I noticed that his teammates ignored him a lot. Like, a lot. There were so many instances when they could have fed the ball to him on the left but they simply chose other options. Because 9 times out of 10 it would have resulted in nothing. I think everyone is aware of his shambolic form right now. And honestly I don't know what his problem is. He's not committed. He's not there neither mentally nor physically. In any other top club he would have been relegated on the bench with such an attitude. As for tonight's game, classic Milan performance: - We start well, play well, score; - We give up two idiotic goals and we completely lose our composure playing like sh*t; - We sporadically manage to find an equaliser. It was the same with Lecce, Salernitana and Atalanta too. Difference is that this time around we somehow manage to win it in the end.

Agreed about Leao, and noticed those instances as well where he was ignored If this season we only counted points based on the first half of games, we'd be first in the table. That is how bad our 2nd half performances are. Those 2 league games you mentioned are the difference between where we are now vs fighting for the title. I'd also add the Napoli and Udinese first round games as well. Had we not thrown those games away, we'd have exactly 9 points more than we do now. Which would put us right there with Inter A real shame. I know a lot has to do with the massive injuries we've had to deal with in our defence especially, but some of it is just plain carelesness.

A real shame.

Vs Napoli and Lecce you were winning 2-0 dominating them in the first half. Vs Udinese at home regardless of anything you should have secured the 3 points. Vs Salernitana again you were winning and dominating the game. Vs Atalanta you conceded the most idiotic goal at the last second. I'll concede the Juve loss cos we were down to 10 men, even though Juve were horrible in that game and managed to win thanks to a deflected shot. But that's 10 points thrown in the trash can from the above. Just poor on every level. How to throw away a scudetto race 101.

Wow it's dead in here... QUOTE (X-Offender @ Jan 23 2024, 01:07 AM) Nah, it's just carelessness.

But that's 10 points thrown in the trash can from the above. Just poor on every level. How to throw away a scudetto race 101. I think going by the recent sample of games we've seen it is pretty obvious that aside from the carelessness, we just cannot seem to control games through possession. And I mostly blame this on the make-up of our midfield RLC is great at bullying people about and bursting through, but he's terrible at distribution and retention. Reinders has suffered a bit of a dip in form which has coincided with switching to Pioli's comfortable 4-2-3-1. We're wasting him playing the double pivot, not to mention him and Adli constantly leave wide open gaps for our slow-@ss CBs to deal with, which has caused the floodgates to open in recent games. Having to score 3 goals per game to get the win is just not sustainable. And lastly, Adli... I'm sorry but this guy cannot be a starter for us, A for effort and all that but I've seen turtles move faster than him, and the one thing he's lauded about, which is his passing, is not even that great. I've seen him flub so many good opportunities to get a good smart pass off. Not to mention that he's leaving us exposed at the back playing alongside a player like Reinders. We desperately need a DM. Hopefully Benna coming back will push Adli back to the bench Anyways, coming on after a win against Napoli to find a dead forum is depressing. I myself haven't been on lately as it's getting harder and harder to feel any enthusiasm about this season. And that's saying something when we're apparently tallying the 2nd best amount of points we've ever accumulated in the 3 points for a win era. It just doesn't feel sustainable at all. Leao's woes make it all the more depressing. He's improved a lot on his general play and his assist numbers are great, but he's let this not scoring thing get to him and the longer it goes the harder it will get for him to shake it off.
