Milan and Roma are set for a transfer market tussle to capture new Brazilian sensation Marcelo from Fluminense.Interest in the 18-year-old left-sided midfielder is set to intensify further when he plays in Brazil’s friendly games against Kuwait and Ecuador in October.
Coach Carlos Dunga called up the talented teenager after some impressive performances for club side Fluminense.
Roma have been tracking Marcelo for some time, but newspaper ‘O Globo’ today reports that Milan have joined the race for a January signature.
It’s claimed that a number of Rossoneri directors and Kaka’s father attended the League match between Fluminense and Cruzeiro to watch striker Wagner, but that it was his opponent Marcelo who caught their eye.
He has been pin-pointed as an ideal replacement for Serginho, who can play either on the wing or at left-back, and could be tempted into a January move for just £4m.
