Milan and Roma are set for a transfer market tussle to capture new Brazilian sensation Marcelo from Fluminense.

Interest in the 18-year-old left-sided midfielder is set to intensify further when he plays in Brazil’s friendly games against Kuwait and Ecuador in October.

Coach Carlos Dunga called up the talented teenager after some impressive performances for club side Fluminense.

Roma have been tracking Marcelo for some time, but newspaper ‘O Globo’ today reports that Milan have joined the race for a January signature.

It’s claimed that a number of Rossoneri directors and Kaka’s father attended the League match between Fluminense and Cruzeiro to watch striker Wagner, but that it was his opponent Marcelo who caught their eye.

He has been pin-pointed as an ideal replacement for Serginho, who can play either on the wing or at left-back, and could be tempted into a January move for just £4m.

who is this lad???

Well I hope we sign him ... obviously I don't know sh1t about him but I reall love new promising youngsters!!!

Even though I wouldn't like to see one more winger play as our LB, Brazilian January transfers have come out quite good for us now ... rolleyes.gif

This guy is outstanding. He's the "new" Roberto Carlos. Really good player.

Juve and Roma are looking foward to sign him too.

I don't think Cicinho is a bad player... he got some problems on the defensive roll, but he's good winger/back in the end. rolleyes.gif

There's no "new anything", this is all crap!!! He's a young and promising left-back, a position where R.Carlos has been playing for quite a long time now and was the best player (not just LB, PLAYER) for at least two seasons ... he's just Brazil's new LB even if he will at some time reach/exceed Carlos' level!!!

God I hate comparisons!!!

Attend .. I had the tickets since before the WC .. As the game was schedualed then .. But because Real Madrid appealed to UEFA that they wont let their players play in that friendly, the match got cancelled all together and the game is to be played this season ..

This time it'll be a better camerca dst tongue.gif

In the end we're not buying anyone. Favalli was free and it's a very good player. "The future" of our defense.

Maybe we can check some 30's yo LB free agents next summer...
